Do Freeza's people require food? If so... would it be possible to keep them within katchin until they starve?
starvation would take too long. With not-arcosians we could try to have them suffocate, depending on the size they wouldn't have enough air for more than..i don't, a few hours? It would probably depend on the species.

with arcosians... maybe we could have creation mages create poisons/narcotics. we drop them inside as a multiform/shade,or have the mages create it directly inside it if they can.

...just thought about it, but could healing magic be used creatively to create tumors/cancer?

Or maybe we could try and use unlocking magic to "unlock" the good inside their heart?

I thought of this already, but we should probably make it an ASK vote.
[X][ASK] Can Namekian Mages create a toxin to incapacitate Haila-or-whoever inside the sphere, and just have Kakara keep it still? For that matter, can they anchor the sphere in place around the warlord if we boost them?

Not with this system. You'd need to actualize the concept of "growth" or "regrowth" or "transformation", instead of "restoration". The right type of magic could almost certainly turn a Senzu bean into an instant ossification poison, but it wouldn't be the sort that emulates Senzu beans in the first place.
Or maybe we could try and use unlocking magic to "unlock" the good inside their heart?
Hmm. I think we'd need to scry the leader's mind for that to work.

Functionally, yes. The exact mechanics are a bit different, and honestly so spoilery that I won't go into them, but for purposes of this quest that's what it functionally results in.
Well now I'm really curious. Incidentally, are you interested in seeing my notional application for DBDFP?

[X][MIND] Shielding. The number one immediate use you have in mind for this talent is shielding your mind from foreign influences. Dazarel begins helping you to refine the lightning shield.

[X][LURE] Get aggressive. Confirm his location and attack immediately. Get his guards away from him and throw up a katchin dome. Once that happens, you can fight him unimpeded.

[X][KILL] Speak up now and remind them all that one, you're thirteen, and two, you actually have a fairly developed view of violence and killing which means that you're not actually willing to kill Haila in cold blood, since they all seem quite certain that you can win the fight without resorting to lethal force.

[X][TRAP] Wish for the trap to be destroyed. (x1.1 vote weighting from, "Ambitious.")

Again, why are people voting for Shielding right now? It won't keep us concealed, it probably won't keep Garenhuld concealed - I just don't get it. Do the other options just look that bad?

They want instant gratification, even when it's useless right now. The best option is mind restructure because it does all that passively but takes time. I bet by the time she needs shielding the same time could have been used to get it passively.

I find it questionable, at best, that the Namekian healers will be willing to use their magic to intentionally give people cancer. That's like asking the average doctor to start slicing throats with their scalpels.

Can you guys maybe tone down the condescension directed at votes you disagree with, as if your opinion is the one objective truth and all other votes/options are stupid traps the rest of us are gullible idiots for daring to vote for?

I'm divided (and therefore didn't vote on that point), but shielding makes sense. If we assume we want shielding at some point to help against Dandeer, then the comparison is really between organization/speed and whatever other actions we really want to do in 6 months. (If we don't train shielding now, we force ourselves to later when we might have other stuff we want to do).

How does organization compare against training Jaffur's trick, or organizing defenses, or developing a new technique, or whatever else? Can we count on it to pay for itself in time for the invasion, for rescuing the last wandering Saiyan, and for fighting Dandeer? I'm not sure - it might be a long term option in a set of circumstances in which we're under meaningful time pressure.

Plus, there's the noted risk of messing up our personality by Dazarel's instruction.

Well, if you insist.

With regeneration-based magic powers, that'd be a pretty obvious outgrowth, I'll grant, but this magic system doesn't work through mechanisms like that. If a healing mage heals somebody, they're not using magic to stimulate the body's natural healing process -- a means which can be abused to force the creation of malignant tumors -- they're pushing conceptual healing at people. This is because the metaphysics line up right for it -- healing is a coherent metaphysical concept in this setting, and it does not include the creation of tumors.

About shielding. Reason why I'm voting to get it now is that its because something we'll need in the future, but have no idea how long it'll take to master. If we master it quickly, great! We can then move onto something else. But the sooner its mastered the better.

On another note, is there a specific reason why everyone's voting to wish to destroy the trap? I don't think I've seen much discussion about it.

Good sir, I know how fun it can feel to trash opinions you disagree with - but you may have lost our side this vote. I implore you to restrain yourself in future.

Apologies for my colleague's behaviour. I don't actually know why you're voting the way you are - my current best guess is a combination of "Kakara might have to deal with mindreading sooner rather than later" and "Kakara might somehow be too occupied to spend enough actions training Shielding in the next couple months, despite the year being so heavily focused on training".
There may also be fear that "Dazarel may manipulate Kakara into becoming considerably more psychopathic", but I peg that as low-likelihood. Kakara is strong-willed, in charge of her own mind, and not stupid. She will almost certainly stick to memory optimization, and that will still pay good dividends in literally every training action that follows. (Remember, as @Deathbybunnies plan showed with Team Fighting, training works by dicerolls - rolls we don't have many bonuses for.)

But this is the real crux of my argument. Barring massive upset, we will have at least 8-ish further Psionic training opportunities before the invasion. We don't know how much investment is needed for any of the options, or how much of a bonus Reorganization would give to them - but we do know that Reorganization pays for earlier investment in a way the other two don't, and in a way that will pay its' own opportunity cost off eventually.
Conclusion: We should take Reorganization as soon as reasonable.
Corollary: If it is not reasonable to take Reorganization now, we need to identify when it will be. If we need to shield our mind to keep from leaking Garenhuld's existence, in preparation for Bassoon's impending scouting runs, waiting until our shields are acceptable makes sense. If we simply need a more trustworthy teacher than Dazarel, we may miss out on all its' potential benefits for the next several years.

Because it's the only one that seems to get us a wish from the fragment, since magic and force would probably hurt the fragment or possibly even kill it. Giving Bassoon the reins might or might not give us the wish, but it'd certainly be my second choice - he might discover why it exists in the first place.

I really doubt that we're going to get a wish out of this. This whole thing seems like shmuck bait, and I'm pretty sure that if we make a wish, that's what's going to set it off. Getting a wish granted seems likes the most attractive bait around, and it seems like we're going to fall for it.

EDIT: This whole scenario has seemed off from the start. Why does Bassoon have a trap in his head? The only scenario that I've come up with that makes sense is if someone is using the FutureSight to scry us, and they put that trap in Bassoon's mind specifically for us.

/tinfoil hat

Also, the Porunga inside the trap just seems to be a fragment, without even enough energy to grant a single wish.

You want to know the really obnoxious part? I might well agree with you, but I know just enough RP spoilers to find that unintuitive. But the quest has also made itself hard to engage with without RP spoilers - apparently, we won't ever get to learn what Cynthia's real deal is in character, because she's a PC from the RP!
On in-character merits, though, it's at lest defensible. The grass wasn't that tough, we have sorceror oversight in case something goes wrong, and anyone who could tell we were going to be in Bassoon's head could almost certainly find Garenhuld and release that info to the Enemy, so any nefarious purposes they have would be for us in particular.

Fragment Porunga doesn't have to be strong enough to grant a wish; he just has to be real enough for True Porunga to make the effort of granting one outside normal service hours. At least that's how I interpreted it.

You get one more of these. Plenty of players follow both RP and Quest quite tolerably; plenty follow only the quest. I only get complaints from you.

You get one more, and then it's a problem that it keeps coming up despite very strict and clear spoiler policies, and repeated and explicit warnings.

Sorry. Would spoilering that have worked? It seemed like something where a spoiler tag called "RP Spoilers" would have given away just as much, and I didn't want to leave him hanging.

Calling it instant gratification is technically accurate, but misleading. I appreciate restructuring, but we have no idea how long it would take to learn or how long it would take to switch up.

For that matter, we don't know how long the other two will take. We may not have time for them after restructuring. Especially considering restructuring makes Kakara niche. We would speed up some stuff but slow down others.

There's no indication that there's a tradeoff being made here? I would not expect us to be "slowing down" in other areas. It's not an intelligently-designed system weighing pros and cons, after all.
