Following that and then psychoanalysing LOVEMUFFIN, I want to build TECHNOR THE MECHANICAL MAN's MAGNABODY. My primary reason is that a giant robot is awesome and it could also help us if/when we need to take a quest to reach out to the Tempest Domain.

Fixed that for ya.
Anyhow while a profile on Shego would be nice, I'm not too hot on sending TECHNOR, THE MECHANICAL MAN out of our sight. He's the golden goose that lays gold therapy eggs. Which is to say he's valuable, very valuable when considering the kinds of people we pick up.

Not too sure TECHNOR, THE MECHANICAL MAN is our in to Fireball. Personal I'm placing my bets on our actual human son Norm (Knight of the realm, second in line for the throne) and Princess Coffee Java (third in line for the throne), ya know royal to royal communication. If TECHNOR, THE MECHANICAL MAN tags along it'd be icing on the cake, which I'm not opposed to.

Currently the only Hero unit which really needs therapy, as in action economy wise, is LOVEMUFFIN. Once they're done therapy'ing we can get them to listen to Von Drake. Max would be better served by Russ teaching him how to deflect jokes.

Coffee Java will not be sapient by the time we can reach out to the Tempest Domain. At minimum it is two turns away. I would prefer that we have our robotic heroes as good as they can be before we send them out, however.

That would be good.

I think there are better ways to get to that point than throwing Max into therapy.

We could do a chat with bossman with him (or with Russ), and during that conversation we could let him know about Russ's comedic control (or request that Russ teach him if we're talking to Russ)

We could have Russ do his "hang with the toons" action.
Personal actions and quests are the best ways to get traits; I think the only exception we've had is the Temujin martial national action, and even that involved personal actions. If we want Russ to teach Max how to lampshade jokes rather than be the butt of them, then sending them on a quest together is probably the best option. The NYC quest probably isn't the most efficient for these purposes, both because Russ is our strongest quest leader in general and won't be able to put that into practice with Doof there and because Max is likely to be fine with it, but Russ gets his stats so high thanks to tooned in, so it'll at least be a chance for Max to see Russ in action and decide for himself if it's something he wants to learn or not.

Maybe add Hego to the category of heroes that need therapy his family issues with Shego and the dichotomy of a hero working for Evol INC cant be good for him

Doof always needs therapy.

And I'm still not sure how therapy with LOVEMUFFIN would work nor am I convinced that'd it make them super receptive to learning from others. I'm like 50/50 that therapy will do something for them. Unless they've got backstorys like Doof, in that case yah.

I don't believe we'll be able to research GalFed's translation method and decode what we think is a transmission from Fireball in two turns but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we manage to do so.

I can agree that the MAGNABODY would be real nice to have when going on a diplomatic mission. Though I'd hate it if it's usage was nessesary against Drossel Juno Vierzehntes Heizregister Fürstin von Flügel.

Hego's 5 loyalty is worrying.

Consider this:

Max complains about being sent on dangerous quests and being involved in 'toony antics'.

And our reaction to that is to send him to therapy.

I would be impressed if his first thought wasn't "Doof the kooky toon loving scientist wants me to be put in therapy because I'm not toony enough... he sees me as a let down, especially compared to my dad."

Which sends a very bad precedent/signal to Max. More so than any loyalty malus, it could be a serious blow to his self esteem. It's an authority figure invalidating his life choices.

I'll admit with a high enough roll this situation might be avoided, but low and average rolls are much more probable.

Edit:
Better to send him on stuff he would like (SPLIT/SECOND), or do a "chat with the Bossman" activity with either him or Russ so we could eventually get Russ to tutor Max with his comedic control abilities

I think it's important to separate out the mechanical effects from the in-story effects. For example, on a mechanical level, if we have Goofy do some gardening, Goofy does some gardening. But story wise, Goofy likely simply has more free time and chooses to, rather than Dr. Doof ordering it. Hence, why Technor has a session can be modified. I had Janna be suggested by Doof because Janna's session was about concealing fear with hostility and hostility with disinterest, so starting her in a bad set. In contrast, my write up for Max's arc isn't about that hostility, so it has him stopping by because Janna mentioned that she found Technor helpful and well, Max and her are friends.

The rough draft of the therapy is here, for anyone who wants to read, finalized won't be out till I know how this quest went.

I'd add to that putting Russ on Auction, which is a low-combat, city quest for next turn.

I do think we need to keep in mind that we got very lucky that the three psychoanalysis rolls were 100, 75, and a 96. So we might be going into things regarding therapy in with a biased view, having not yet gotten a poor roll yet. (Also the high rolls matched the positive results of your omakes so they were canonized... but a low roll might not match)

I think the perspective of Max feeling shame for not being toony enough is a possible result from a poor roll for psychoanalysis (a low enough roll might have him simply refuse to go), and it might be better if we chat with Max first, to help buffer potential issues by giving him a tool (comedic control) to help solve one of his problems.

*blink*
You're dedicated. Writing therapy sessions we haven't even started voting on? You ARE Technor, the Mechanical Therapist, aren't you? Behind the screen?

EDIT: I have a theory that because clockworkchaos' Omakes directly correlate to the therapy sessions, and they alleviate the need for MiH to do more writing, our last two fire rolls are less (d100) and more (d50+50).

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, TECHNOR PROXY!

Maybe we can do it after Standley had a turn, he has been promised therapy about half a year ago and I don't want to miss our opportunity to recruit him for the Lava melee weaponry and other stuff. If we going to bring Max to new york for the auction, it might be preferable so he can get relax a bit before the therapy as I doubt he would complain as much in a secure city environment as opposed to his two outdoor trips.

I believe it was mentioned that we won't be able to recruit him.

Low rolls are part of the nature of the beast, like maybe he rolls a 1 on chat with and it goes bad.. Furthermore, Doof isn't someone who has the insight to appreciate that what Max most wants is control, rather than not merely liking trips. So like, I don't find it likely he could suggest a method of control. Technor has both the insight and knowledge to suggest it, and I'd like it suggested before the auction.

On that.

I know you guys feel responsible for Stanley, but don't. After your critical success on an intervention, Stanley got the help he needs from prison therapists and is already on the road to being a mentally healthier supervillain and/or legitimate businessman. You cannot recruit him, acquire his company (if it still exists), or access any more of his tech for the time being. You may be able to reverse-engineer some of the more interesting stuff he could make in the future.

I am against therapizing LOVEMUFFIN. Even if mechanically it would be a good idea, I think narratively it wouldn't fit. What, TECHNOR doing group therapy with 13+ mad scientists? Doing trust exercises, mediated talks where they talk their feelings out and then hug it out? A workshop on positive, non-aggressive language to improve communication?

... Actually, yeah. I could see that working. But getting each of them to individually let go of their arrogance? Nope, I can't see it. TECHNOR is only one (albeit MECHANICAL) MAN.

Technor hardly spends all of his time on one person. He helps many people. He has time to psychoanalyze all of them. Should we put in LOVEMUFFIN, he will simply have to have 13 new patients. We don't need to get rid of all of their arrogance, just enough so that they will listen to Von Drake.

Wait,Hitler was a Disney villain.Does that mean....
Err what? What disney works was Hitler the bad guy in? I don't think WW2 era propaganda counts.

Before anyone mentions Bedknobs and Broomsticks: 1) Nazi high command doesn't show up there and 2) That film is already part of DVV Classic, with Leonidas as the king of Naboombu.

Ok, ok, I get it, Technor is a Therapy God, but hear me out here...

Can we give the man some free time? I think he deserves some time to work on that body he's been itching for with his other personal actions. We've gotten Olympic Pool-fuls of milage from him and his therapy skills. He's EARNED some personal time.
I quite agree. Also some megawattage.

In my view, Xanatos is too-leave him alone for too long and boom, he owns everything out from under you. But fair point, so perhaps match Bill with the [Redacted] thing that I think @weredrago2 has mentioned?
Xanatos is an end-boss you can live with; he's got a very live-and-let-live attitude towards antagonists even when he could theoretically destroy them.

Bill is... different.

On the other hand, Max might well seek out therapy of his own free will because he's angry, stressed, depressed, or having trouble resolving his feelings about his dad and so on.

Not everyone we vote to have Technor therapize is automatically being ordered to do it by the bossman.

It would probably be a better idea to get Russ to teach Max how to deflect jokes. Doof has seen Russ do it in character.
Maybe we should take "Chat with the Bossman" with Max soon. On the other hand, Doof's getting ONE personal action next turn, so... uh.

I mean really, Max while he might like some crazy stunts, the fact is he's a city boy at heart. He's gunna always hate going into the middle of bumfuck nowhere and deal with ancient civlizations or whatever. If you want Max to enjoy a mission he's on, think to yourself 'would the average teenage boy find this scenario fun, tolerate it, or outright hate it' and then go from there.
It really depends on the teenage boy, but you're not wrong and we should probably stop sending him on expeditions that involve trekking through a howling wilderness.

Fixed that for ya.

I think sending Technor along would help.

Among other things, Technor is in fact rather smarter and more autonomous than Norm or Coffee Java, and likely to remain so for a while until we do a lot of upgrades.

Wait,Hitler was a Disney villain.Does that mean....
Disney Villains Victorious: Gridlocked generally only uses Disney properties set after World War Two and/or that would fit the overall 'Shadowrun' dynamic of the setting.

Since Hitler was, by definition, a villain set during World War Two, and isn't a corporate overlord like Shere Khan from Talespin... he doesn't get to be victorious in this setting.

Maybe we should take "Chat with the Bossman" with Max soon. On the other hand, Doof's getting ONE personal action next turn, so... uh.

I'd vote for him to chat with russ. We need to update him on all the Toffee stuff, prophecy of the masquerade falling, and talk with him about what he finds out in his next interlude.

And we haven't really chatted with him since we found out he likes toons. It be nice to thank him for the fantastic job he's been doing and for recommending the Dickenses to us since they are very helpful in finding Marco it seems.
