It's too late to join the lobbyists in the direct "lobby against the act" option. It would make us look like opportunists, and also snake-like for only rallying to action once something was both popular and after being called out for not rallying against it before. Showing we're not talk is the only route to meaningfully salvage against the PR attack.

Time-Sensitive Inator!

The Peach-Cobbler-Inator! (...again!):
+/- 5 to diplomacy for a turn depending on whether or not the Tri-State-Area can produce something that can pass as the aforementioned desert.

And when he points out that while we did some Pro Super things but we never actually moved against the Bill itself what are you going to do?

Clear our throat.

Raise one finger, opening our mouths.

Pause for a second.

Walk off-stage.

Appear in the newspapers four months later for sponsoring a brand-new, nation wide super team that has a better arrest record than any other super group in the nation. Also for solving the hunger crisis with dino meat and environmental "bubbles".

Okay, don't hate me because I have never seen Gargoyles, but... who's Fox?

EDIT: I mean, I know she's Xanatos' wife, but why is everyone so caught off guard by her being dead?
She's the daughter of the Summer Fae Queen Titania. Anyone who killed her would have the wrath of Xanatos AND The Fay Court fall on their head like the meteor that killed the Dinosaurs the first time, and if it was sickness or disease or whatever Xanatos's money or Titania's Magic should have been able to heal it, so something fucky is going on.

Pro-Xanadu Players: We should do Xanadu next! It can have cool upgrades for Khan and Janna!

Anti-Xanadu Players: It's risky! We have more important things to do at home and no idea of what to expect!

Xanadu:

Wait a minute, Fox is dead? When did that happen because I certainty don't remember any mention of it.

That wouldn't work. Oberon intended to take Alex to Avalon while Titania was gaming things to force Fox's power to the surface while getting Puck to be sentenced to be Alex's bodyguard and teacher.

so Titania fucks up and kills Fox instead of powering her up and Alex is taken by Oberon.

how the fuck does this count as him being victorious?

I'm admittedly new to this quest, but I'm fairly certain permanent boosts to stats are a bit too OP, at least compared to the Bad -inator you came up with. Either they should both deal in permanent stats, or they should both deal in temporary stats.
Made an addendum that the gains disappear in two turns unless cemented with a training action - because the inator doesn't come with the training or good habits necessary to attain and maintain good health and fitness.

And when he points out that while we did some Pro Super things but we never actually moved against the Bill itself what are you going to do? Don't half ass global wide diplomacy. Either support for or against it. This half measure shit won't cut it.
And when he points out we only started lobbying for the SRA after it was clear that's where the wind was blowing like some opportunistic snake what are we going to do? This isn't about saving AP, I actively think lobbying against the SRA is just activating Doom's trap card at this point.

So as for what I'd do if he came after us for not lobbying against the SRA after we'd taken concrete pro-Super actions, I'd say we do nothing, because we'd have taken the bite out of the accusations already, and, ideally, reached out to Shego directly to smooth things over on that end. If possible, we could make some post on Social Media about how we don't need to campaign against the SRA in Doofania, or something like that.

We are still the Diseased Lunatic from Danville. Might as well take advantage where we can.

Let's just say we kinda left America, we didn't think the US would appreciate a foreign country meddling in their affairs, and we have always been pro super, look hego is on staff.

Even our national insurance chain is changing it's policies now that it looks like America is catching up to Doofania and we won't be trampling all over their unjust laws.

Got a chuckle, and I would love to adopt this as a defense. However, earlier conversations showed that this specific defense falls flat, and doesn't work well. The more we push secession then the more people push back.

Ehhh. The SRA push reads to me less of a "Help Heroes" and more of a "Rebrand Villains into Heroes" thing like what Sky High is doing right now, where they are angling less of Heroes and more into being Super Mercenaries. And I dont think Doof really cares about rebranding (its in the company name after all).

Best to help those heroes hurt by the fallout of the change, I believe. Either we attract those who sees through what we are doing (actual help rather than lobbying), or we repel those heroes who do more harm than good (in the eyes of the public at the least), which is a win/win to me.

The downsides of this is Doom fingerpointing and smearing us publicly, which I see less of a bad and more of a neutral thing, since it just makes the eventual reversal (when we finally decide to strike back) that much more satisfying.

Half-Fey. Child of Titania, human father. (Yes, that Renaissance-era queen of fairies, wife of Oberon, did you read Shakespeare ever? That one.) Xanatos' wife, and not for political reasons or anything.

Dead of something that neither magic nor money nor Xanatos-caliber planning could stop.

Yeah, that sounds unbelievable on the face of it to me. Off in another dimension raising her son somewhere safe and protected while David is working to make the country safe for them to live ? Now that's more plausible. I mean, we're talking about borderline-meme-caliber Xanatos here. The guy who invented the Xanatos Gambit and Xanatos Speed Chess.

Which means, of course, that if we doubt him at all he can either play offended atoner (I'm just trying to do the right thing, after losing the woman I loved)...or he can nudge us up on the threat level, as someone who could see past the surface-level illusion of her death and thus potentially pose a danger to one of the two beings he would move heaven and earth to keep safe.

I propose we donate a nominal amount to the fund as a gesture of goodwill and friendliness.

Oo, possible opportunity to foster good relations with Xanatos! If Fox died due to foul play, sic Russ on the case and have him track down the SOB!

Xanatos Enterprises
[ ] Lobby against the SRA
DC 100

Great Success

David Xanatos has quietly expressed his approval for the repeal of the SRA, an action that carries more weight than it would for anyone else. Whether Xanatos simply feels a wind change and wishes to get ahead of it, or has some greater plan, no one can say.
Welp, if Shego and Xanatos are against it it's probably best if we just flip against it ourselves. Silence will speak louder than words when almost all the other prominent Kings have turned against.

[ ] Announce the Fox Xanatos Memorial Foundation

Critical Success

Without any fanfare, David Xanatos has announced the creation of the Fox Xanatos Memorial Foundation on the third anniversary of his wife's passing. The foundation will provide financial assistance to any employees who are put into a financial burden as the result of a recent death in their family.
...I am unsure if we've heard more information on this than just this, but... Do we have reason to think Fox is dead, or faked death because of something that would be hard to conceal? Hard to be sure.

Ooof! Well that didn't end well. Honestly I'm surprised... though I did note earlier that Glomgold can afford to pay for damages caused by super mercenaries regardless of the SRA, giving him an advantage. Then again, after the St. Canard breakout (with some of the toons in question being supers), he may just be prejudiced against supers himself.

Great Success

Olympia has publicly announced its support for the repeal of the SRA, shattering years of prior policy and distinctly shifting the national environment in a pro-Super direction.
Yeah, I think we'd better push this way... it won't make us look great, but silence isn't helping either.

[ ] Sponsor a cape
DC 100

Spectacular Success

Olympia only underscored this new commitment by beginning to 'sponsor' a new cape. Superheroine Voyd, who made waves during the eventful performances of the Sands Gala, has been chosen as a new face for superheroes everywhere. Olympia has indicated that it will be taking on financial responsibility for Voyd's work until such time as the SRA is repealed, explaining that they are 'that confident that Voyd's actions will prove unequivocally the aid and benefit Supers bring to our communities'.
WELP. So much for hiring her ourselves... At least she's good at the job and portals are low collateral damage from Deavors' point of view.

Hard to say whether Evelyn is coming up with a plot that parallels The Incredibles 2 or if this is relatively on the up-and-up. Tempting to investigate.

[ ] Posthumously ruin Oliver Sansweet

Critical Success

Judge Doom has begun an extremely successful posthumous smear campaign on one Oliver Sansweet, said by many to be the man single-handedly responsible for ending the Golden Age and ushering in the SRA. Sansweet has been out of the public eye for decades now, but the recent defamation campaign has brought him back in the public consciousness as nothing more than a sniveling ambulance chaser and probably communist who should never have been saved from his attempted suicide by Mr. Incredible. This scathing rhetoric had the side effect of making Judge Doom look all the better in the eyes of superhero supporters.
Well that's a shitty move, but very Judge Doomy. Also he seems to be getting some kind of Diplomacy boost that worries me. I think he's gonna leverage that. I strongly recommend we keep trying to leverage Russ's Intrigue against Judge Doom; he's going to rebuild his position pretty easily at this rate if we don't find an effective way to undermine him.

Khan Industries
[ ] Lobby for the SRA

41+35+40+6=122
Decent Success

Khan has taken a measured, careful approach towards disapproval of the SRA. Since Cape Suzette is an unincorporated territory, Khan only has to worry so much about the status of an American law. Nonetheless, his general distaste for vigilantism has led him to rally against what he describes as 'an inefficient and chaotic means of law enforcement'.
Oof. Not unexpected. Hopefully we can smooth things over with Khan even if we do take an anti-SRA stance.

Failure

Khan Industries has hit a roadblock when it came to furthering their research into fusion power, or so they said in public reports.
Yeah, escalating DC's are rough. But I don't know just who they have providing those bonuses. Has Khan got his own angle on Blue Hawaii and GalFed tech? It's not impossible; he has a lot of shipping and aircraft, so the blockade may not fool his people indefinitely.

Laser Pirate
[ ] Rob ENCOM HQ
DC 90 (Reduced by ???)
66+27+20+40(???)=153

ENCOM HQ was broken into last week by what confused and disturbed bystanders are calling a 'digital pirate.' The so-called pirate sailed an enormous flying ship shaped like a skyscraper down Palos Verdes Drive into downtown LA, thus bypassing traffic, before staging a break-in by animatronic pirates. The 'shipscraper' or 'pirate building' was destroyed in the attack, but the Laser Pirate in charge escaped on some form of hover-dinghy. ENCOM is remaining tight-lipped about what, if anything, was stolen. Sadly, you may never know what-

[ ] Sell 'laser plans' to prominent individuals
DC 50
67+14=81

Never mind! You and several other prominent individuals around the country have received an email from one 'Captain Laser' offering to sell you an 'entirely unique' design that he recovered from ENCOM headquarters. Called the 'SHV 20905', he promises that you will find its like nowhere else, and a copy of the plans can be yours for the low low price of ten million dollars wired straight to a Swiss bank account! This is peanuts compared to what your company makes in a year, so… do you want to take him up on his offer? (A vote will be included in a later interlude.)
...Wacky.

Also, that is a digitizing laser holy shit. Even if we don't use it immediately, the applications are staggering; we HAVE to have one.

ENCOM
[ ] Patch security holes
DC 90
96+58+34+8=196
Critical Success

ENCOM has rolled out a mandatory update for all systems to address the concerns that most consumers have with the platform. Following the break-in at their Headquarters, they seem to have decided to take security incredibly seriously. Their update, against all logic and reason, not only failed to brick the systems but actually delivered on what they were promising! ENCOM Legacy's updated digital security is actually pretty impressive, as much as you hate to admit it. Not even DoofOS is as resistant to viruses and trojans as Legacy now appears to be.
Ooof. They are doing really well lately. I wonder who broke into their headquarters, though?

But yeah, we're gonna need to up our game. If upgrading DoofOS is a Stewardship action maybe we can put P&F on that... though it might not be a Big Idea for them.

Now that the Sands Casino has returned to normal operations, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck have opened up a live show in the casino to near-universal acclaim. Their shows have been sold out every night and the livestreams of their performances are seeing millions of views online. While the St. Canard breakout is still in the back of many minds, the return of two great stars to the stage has helped a bit in restoring some of those lovable characters' reputations.
Ahh, very interesting.

Wait how is he a family man if his family is dead and abducted by their grandpa?

o find it hard to believe he moved on that fast.

Something is screwy over there and I really don't like it.
