You can be reasonably sure that an action which crit failed did not grant you the bonuses of a success.
I think that what people are asking is if we'll face any penalties if we try to do Research Superpowers again, or if we've potentially lost the action for a while like when Lovemuffin did it. We all know we won't get the benefits, it's just we're worried about whether the research has taken a hit beyond 'no results this turn'.

Oh heck, I dunno. Probably not?

I get that from a mechanical standpoint, but narratively they spent months making a super serum and super-serum-maker that for all we know actually worked, plus notes
[X] Research superpowers (Dr. Jumba Jookiba) (99% w/ XP)
DC 110
1+38+38+30+3
Critical Failure!
Also, we met the dc for the action despite rolling a 1

Ok, so I took a look at Lovemuffin's sheet, and...maybe having them do the Extradimensional tech would work? With the reductions from this turn, the DC is 60, and exploring other dimensions coikd be spun as possibly even more exciting than space! With space, there's no IC guarantee that aliens exist (assuming Jumba, 625, and Pleakley have been keeping their mouths shut, and they'd be responsible for opening up whole new worlds to explore. They have a pretty good chance of succeeding, and possibly even getting a critical success.

Nope! They made very clear in this update that they don't like the fact that we hand them gimmes. They want things with a chance of failure, so I'd suggest exotic vehicles, where a crit fail is unlikely, even with their trait.

Ah, ok then. Unfortunate, but workable. Honestly, Exotic Vehicles or the SHV laser sound like the best choices at the moment. They have a chance of failure, the results are potentially useful, and the results of a crit fail probably won't hurt too much.

...Oh no. The DM's have handed us a hero tailor made to target our greatest weakness, namely, our complete and total aversion to actual risk.

Yeah, I'd rather go with Exotic Vehicles, tbh. Anyways, my very rudimentary plans for next Tuen are we put them on Exotic Vehicles, Jumba on a personal for once, Janus on genetics, and some relatively unused learning hero on the Other-Dimension-Inator.

I just realized something, in one of the books is explicitly said that Peter Pan visits each one of Wendy's female descendants, taking them to Neverland to have an adventure and then returning them when they ask. Disney Peter Pan never make this, just taking Jane on an adventure once and the ending of the movie didn't make a reference to what happened in the book, but...It would be crazy out of character for Disney!Peter to do what his counterpart did?

Also, I really hope that there is a reference to El Zorro sometime. How knows? Maybe that Arrow Expy is his descendant (I think the card said he was rich...)

Edit: Yeah, I know the Rule of only modern settings, but how knoes? There is always an exception.
Peter Pan and Zorro are both in Classic. Our best chance of seeing them is...Well, there's pretty much no chance, since, as far as I know, the QMs don't want it. Maybe, if we get REALLY lucky with dimension hopping, but probably not even then.

Honestly, I think putting Lovemuffin on the SHV laser would be better for their loyalty than Exotic Vehicles. Not only does it have a (slightly) higher DC, the concept just seems like something Lovemuffin might like more. After all, we have an entire subdivision of gearheads, complete with a Learning hero who'd do fine with them already. The SHV laser, on the other hand, involves mysterious stolen proprietary technology from one of our biggest competitors, and basically has them throwing science at a wall and seeing what sticks. Of the two, I definitely think the laser will improve their loyalty more.

Good point. And a crit fail is impossible on it, as well (with XP). Yeah, we can definitely put them on the Shiva Laser.

I would like to vehemently disagree with this idea. Remember that people know that dinosaurs are one of our specialties. If a bunch of rampaging dinos get set loose on the American population, then Doof is taking the blame for that.

Also I don't want those idiots touching an easy win for Jumbas and Janus. Out of the question.
.... But it has the potential to lead to an awesome dinosaur-themed Jurassic park quest!

Ok...so part of a plan for next turn, I'm expecting changes incoming.

Upgrade Norm or Normbots
-Upgrading Norm Prime will probably increase his stats, while Normbots are the foot soldiers of our army. Might as well give them an upgrade, and it's less likely to piss anyone off than Super villainy.

Collab with Shego on Drug Trade
-We're letting her know about the issue this turn, and offering to collab with her ought to help our relationship
??? Diplomacy
-I'm open for suggestions on what we should do.

I'd like to lower the DC for reorganizing Lovemuffin, but I'm not sure how. Regardless, as the biggest bonus we can get appears to be from Phineas and Ferb (and frankly, their DC increasing trait might apply there so I'm not sure they're the best choice) we probably shouldn't choose this just yet.
Host a Company Retreat
-We might not get another chance at this this IC year, but if we do then we should take it. More loyalty = better stuff for us!
Do something about our OS problems (Alan Bradley)
-Seriously DoofOS is our single biggest source of income and more importantly, the OS we use. We either need to fix it, or get something that doesn't have the same flaws. We've got Alan, so he better start earning that paycheck!
Sponsor SPLIT/SECOND (Roddy Blair)
-This gives us a nice boost to our incomeand is slightly easier than Dinosaur Entertainment. assumes we don't get another shot at the company retreat this year.

Investigate Hawk's Death
-This probably won't be around for much longer, and its the best chance of stopping Doom's plans we've got.
Infiltrate a Hotspot: Anywhere except New York
-We need something for that second Intrigue faction, and this seems safe
Do something about Kat (Potentially Colonel)
-Whether it's Spying on Employees again, or something else, we need to get rid of that feline menace. The Colonel ought to be worth the expense.

Research Superpowers (Jumba)
-We tried this year, and failed. Let's try again and see what we can get.
Extradimensional Tech (???)
-We went and got an 80 point reduction to the DC, so let's get this started!
Research SHV laser (Lovemuffin)
-Alright, Lovemuffin wants something they can fail at? Then fine. This has adrecently high DC, fits them narratively a lot better than Exotic Vehicles does, and they're just designing something from a blueprint. Even if they fail, we ought to be able to handle the consequences

Dance Magic (Juniper)
-We've got Juniper, now let's put her to work.

Any objections or ideas?

For my plan, would anyone object to putting Ludivine on the Extradimensional action? The reduced DC is 60, and if her trait kicks in the action with the closest DC is Exotic Vehicles. I'm thinking it's a safe place to put her, and if her trait does kick in it'll be a bit irritating, but Exotic Vehicles is definitely less damaging then Flubber.

Actually... yes. Yes, I think they have.

Granted, since we've had LOVEMUFFIN since the beginning of the quest, I'm not sure it was supposed to target a weakness, but thinking about it, I'm pretty sure LOVEMUFFIN was supposed to be a cointoss on whether or not they produced crazy mad science results, to make up for them being an entire extra national action.

Negaverse Janna-Quest: Christmas Cheer!

====================================================================================================================
Please tell me you're continuing this? I didn't realize just how much I need to see them panic their way through 12th night, but I do now.

We shouldn't fire Lovemuffin if we set Lovemuffin on actions we don't want getting out, like the SHV Laser or the Extradimensional tech.

That means that we'll have to supplement them with personal actions, and there's a real possibility that they will still try to fight us despite that.

Nobody else is willing to take them, and they know it, so at best they can try to take over the company.

I say let them try.

Then again, it wasn't as if the average member of the public was much better.

Janus no, L.M. is ... give me a minute.

Average stat of NPC is 8.

Assuming 14 members (Hero unit photo, Rodney, & Dr. Dimutive) in the group.

Stat/14*x=8

Martial is 37.3 times worse.
Diplomacy is 56 times worse.
Stewardship is 14 times worse.
Intrigue is 37.3 times worse.
Learning is 8 times worse.

They aren't even average in magic but they at least fall into the median of 0.

I object! It's a serious waste of Ludivine, when basically any of our heroes could manage it with a bit of XP, unless you're trying to go for a Crit? I guess it makes sense in that case.

It's the possibility of a crit. Doof and Ludivine have a combined bonus of 78, and the DC of Extradimensional tech as it currently stand is 60. We're already guaranteed to succeed on anything but a Nat 1, so I figure it might be worth the cost to lower the DC to 50 and go for a critical success as well.

Yeah, guess that makes sense. We can double up on the crit to have MAD SCIENCE!
