[ ] Improve DoofOS Security (Alan Bradley)
DC 115 (Reduced by XP)
3+24+26+20+5+2=75
Dismal Failure

Alan certainly seemed to know what he was doing, right up until he first looked at the source code for DoofOS. You never thought you'd see a grown man be driven to tears by a page full of ASCII characters, but Alan did not take his look into the maw of madness very well. It turns out that the spaghetti code written by L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. does not hold up to any scrutiny whatsoever. It works, it works well, but if L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. has ever heard of coding best practice, it was from the bottom of a well full of water while they had wax stuffed in their ears and from very far away. Unfortunately, Alan's attempt at rewriting it led to him spending many, many sleepless nights in the computer lab just to get it into a workable form. The end result is that, from a front end or security perspective, absolutely nothing has been improved.

[ ] Investigate Supervillain Attacks (Major Francis Monogram)
DC 75 (Reduced by XP)
17+17+18+10+1=63
Failure

To be continued in Interlude: Plan B
[ ] Tinker with your Inators
28

You didn't have much time to devote to tinkering at all. Choose one inator to activate:

[ ] The Probabilitor-Inator, doubled!
Every success is a critical success. Every failure is a critical failure. Roll 1d20 for the random event roll, and flip a coin. If it's heads, the 1d20 corresponds to 80-100. If it's tails, the 1d20 corresponds to 1-20.

[ ] The Groundhog-Day-Inator, doubled!
Roll four times for each hero action, and take the worst.
[ ] Chat with the Bossman: L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N.
26

This didn't go well at all. L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. has just as many issues with you now as they did back in the day, making your attempts to talk with them an exercise in futility. Rodney just glared at you the entire time and the rest of the muffinheads weren't great conversationalists either. They've been getting unpleasantly surly lately, and pretty obviously discontent with the jobs you keep assigning them to… it might be time to start thinking about how to seriously restructure these guys lest they just up and leave, and probably sabotage a vending machine or three on their way out.
[ ] Dennis the Duck (Study the Perfect Sandwich)
5

Dennis started to study the Multiverse's Greatest Sandwich, but was quickly distracted by 625, who demanded to know what he was working on. The two of them hit it off rather well, sharing their knowledge of sandwichcraft and their love of all things between pieces of bread. In fact, it's safe to say that both of them have found a new friend!

Unfortunately, they commemorated their newfound friendship by splitting the Multiverse's Greatest Sandwich.

Dennis and 625 have both received a loyalty boost! The Multiverse's Greatest Sandwich was declared to be delicious!
*deep inhale*

Something funny I thought of Judge Doom critical fails and falls down an escalator for 4 hours it goes viral beyond "it will not stop flushing."

I am fine with others doing well and bad if it means we don't have all failures. Besides MiH would be doing the other actions for the other kings and they have the chance to fail too.

Non-Practicing Practitioner: Janna has a breadth of knowledge about the occult but also, ultimately, basically no experience using it. She has +5 to rolls made to learn more about supernatural subjects, but also cannot take any Occult actions that require her to cast a spell or otherwise manipulate magic herself.
Should Janna still have this trait? We already saw her cast a lot of summoning and attack spells, so this trait seems out of time.
Semi-Phenomenal, Nearly-Cosmic: This unit may use their Occult score in place of their Martial score when in combat.
Janna's Martial has increased by 2! Leopold got a good workout and his bonus has increased by 2 as well!
Also how useful is Martial score going to be for a girl who routinely substitute her Martial with Occult?

Speaking logically, we know the Probabiit-Inator is going off, and the other Kings don't. The other Kings will be taking completely normal actions, while we'll be taking actions that have low DCs, since we know what's coming. If statistics spreads out like statistics is supposed to, we'll get very few critical failures, and the other kings will get, uh, several.

If we aim carefully, the Probabilit-Inator is a net gain for us, and we just have to hope that we get a good RER. The other Inator is, is just, bad.

Curious how Jumba's sucess and Monogram's failure are combined into the same Interlude.

Is there a chance that Monogram got drugged and monstrified but Jumba managed to reverse it?

So, let's say we activate the probability inator. Most threats get bonuses that mostly cancel out, right? Like, on average Toffee's successes will cancel out those of Meridian, etc. It's still a benefit to us, as we know it's coming, and it hurts toons the most, as their trait is less useful (including, notably, Doom and Phantom Blot). On the other hand, Bill.

So, I don't think Bill is playing a CK2 quest, or even a person-scale quest like PB or Negaduck, but more of a puzzle of him trying to figure out how to burst the barrier. In any case, a crit here could be really good, setting him back, or really, really bad. Something to think about.

"Uh oh"
"Don't tell me, one of our wacky Inators got rolled."
"Yep"
"It's gonna leave a big Impact on everyone on earth?"
"Most likely."
"Bring it on."
Welp, it affects us but also everyone else, and at least we have the advantage of being prepared to exploit it. Speaking of which, brief list of low-hanging DC actions that could really benefit from enforced Critical Success:

[ ] Recruit rogues and villainous capes
DC 65
There are all sorts of empowered individuals out there, whether riding the wings of natural, inheritable powers, spontaneous mutations, or extraordinary technological developments. Pulling some of them into your fold early on might be a good idea, especially before your rivals snap them up. Villains will be much more comfortable with your DEI mission statements, but also have a reputation for eccentricity. Then again, so do you.

(Reward: choice between several hero units, units are happily villainous but may be unpredictable.)
Whenever we crit a recruitment action, we get two-to-three units for the price of one, and some of our best unita have come from spinning the gacha. Let's do it again next turn.

[ ] Dinosaur Entertainment

DC 75

You remember some really old movie about a dinosaur theme park that went horribly wrong. Spoilers: everyone died. You think a lawyer got eaten by a T. rex or something. Not on your watch! Your dinosaur park will be far better, far safer, and far more popular than just accommodating one tour group with a bunch of whiny kids!

(Reward: Small increase to public opinion, moderate increase to income, Gets DEI's name out there as a scientific miracle house)
Put Roddy Blair on it, and with Exp it's an automatic success. Needless to say, this'll be a very high-value action for us.

[ ] Collaborate with Smarty Mart

DC 70

Martin Smarty, the CEO of major supermarket/wholesaler chain Smarty Mart and one of the richest non-ducks in the world, has offered to collaborate with you on a large scale upgrade to your Doofenshmirtz Evil Megamarts. In addition to splitting the profits with you, he was so enthused by his meeting with Coyote that he's offered to do a bit of consulting for you on other projects.

(Reward: small income increase, Marty Smarty will be available to perform a few stewardship actions for you.)
This is here by virtue of being one of the lowest DC stewardship actions, having decent rewards, and probably making an excellent impression on our new part-time Hero unit.

[ ] Research Silphium
DC 90

This wondrous herb has been extinct for centuries… everywhere except Drusselstein, that is. According to some ancient literature the uses for this thing are innumerable, ranging from the culinary to the pharmaceutical. Unfortunately you've got no idea where to begin given that most of the literature on the thing is older than any modern nations. Get your scientists cracking to see if they can figure out how to best use it!

(Rewards: new research unlocked, ???, ???)
With exp, Ludivine can auto-succeed this, and really this Silphium stuff has so many uses a crit would probably give us some serious shinies.

The other kings likely won't be aware of it before doing their action, so unlike us they will be taking actions normally, and some will get screwed when they "bare failures" turn into critical failures.

[ ] Large Herbivore Domestication

DC 110

You were a bit surprised that Jumba didn't leap onto this immediately, but you suppose there's only so many hours in a day. Not necessarily 24 since he comes from another planet mind you, but still, a limited amount. Bring your dino-studies to the next level by researching the big boys.

(Reward: Large Carnivore Domestication research action unlocked, Dinosaur Weapons Platforms action unlocked, ??? if Dinosaur Park established)

[ ] Environmental Adaptations (Dinosaurs)

DC 130

You may have brought them back from extinction, but as they are now, dinosaurs simply aren't suited for every situation. Minor adjustments to their DNA will change that, allowing you to make specialized dinosaur strains and subspecies for whatever comes their way! Floods, droughts, cold weather, or bullets! Where one dinosaur subtype fails, another will prevail!

(Reward: Increased effectiveness of dinosaurs in combat. Miscellaneous benefits in other areas.)

Double dino Learning Actions with Lee and Jumba! With exp, those have a 90% to pass! Also, it synergizes with Dino Park!

Behold, one and all, the power of Doof Dino Universe!

Here's a thought: if success (and thus critical success) is out of reach, just put everyone on personals. No risk of critfailing. Not enough actions, so what? We have a marginally inefficient turn, compared to utter chaos everywhere else.
