Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

After looking over the personal reality perks, I'm interested in seeing how some of these perks work with the things Joe, and the duplicates, have already built, for example will computer core add a new system to the workshop or just upgrade the current computer with fiat backed additions.

I'm also interested in how the Jump Topic perk will work for Joe, does he get a store for every world he gets powers from?
Also since we've seen that Garment can use Apeiron gold coins for her powers can Joe spend those coins in his personal mall or will he finally need to become a real mercenary and start doing jobs for cash?
Jump Topic (200) After every jump concludes, your mall gains a general store specific to that jump's reality that carries commonly available consumer goods and pre-packed food items indicative of that reality's cuisine. Think convenience store bentos or carry out chinese food. Also carries spare parts for mundane equipment from that reality. If you've used More for More to upgrade the general level of your shops, the Jump Topics will also be improved, carrying higher end goods and food.
I'm also looking forward to Jump Topic. There are some jumps like Fallen London where the common consumer goods are crazy. There's also stuff like robot booze from Samurai Jack. It'd be fun to make a list of jumps with interesting stuff (could also save Lord some work). Harry Potter is another I'm looking forward to. There are also jumps I'm unfamiliar with that I feel might have potential in the interesting and unique common goods available like Dune. Though there are some jumps that probably don't have a store like the Robot Unicorn Attack. I know that most stores aren't gonna have anything interesting (most likely mundane modern or medieval goods) since it's still common consumer goods, but I'm curious about jumps like Splatoon where the denizens aren't even human.

This is because neutrinos just plain don't interact with matter. They're ubiquitous and omnipresent, we are literally bombarded by neutrinos in every direction daily yet... for all those neutrinos, not one atom of us is likely to interact with a neutrino, for our entire lives. That's how "ghostly" neutrinos are, hence why Joe was so stupefied that one piece of crystal the size of a fingernail could actually get energy out of the things - we convert entire salt cave systems just to make neutrino detectors (as in just to detect a single collision to a measurable degree) that's just how much mass you normally need just to get a single interaction, yet this thing could somehow not only capture neutrinos consistently, it's to the degree of converting it to energy.

It would only really make sense if the crystals are made out of something incredible dense, such as neutronium. Of course, this would be impractical for a number of reasons, namely the fact that it will instantly and explosively expand outside of the gravity well of a neutron star, and a single cubic centimeter of it has a mass of roughly 100 million tonnes. So given all of the Forge shenanigans, it makes perfect sense. There is such a thing as matter which is opaque to neutrinos, it's just that you only get that matter in ridiculous environments.

But here's the real problem: Even if you had matter with the magical property of being opaque to neutrinos, you still can't get that much energy from absorbing them. Based on some quick googling, I calculated that the combined energy of every neutrino that passes through a 1m^2 area on the surface of the Earth gives about 2 kW of power. Not terrible, you could run two microwaves concurrently with that, but definitely not a compact energy source.

So not only must these energy crystals be made from either insanely dense matter (or use magic dimensional stuff like fold carbon), but they must also do something magical with the neutrinos to obtain more than the average 0.53MeV per solar neutrino in output.

The fact that neutrinos are also produced by terrestrial activity doesn't diminish their relationship to the sun, does it?

Like, I thought geonutrinos were orders of magnitude less common than solar neutrinos, but I guess if the solar neutrinos are comparatively more dispersed by the time they reach the surface of the Earth...

Probably the latter since it's from Shivers which means it operates on the paranormal element of that setting. It specifies power from the Sun in the perk text and personally I can see there being some wierd sun worship belief/faith based influence from the Atlanteans as a headcanon in-setting explanation. Note that paranormality is likely also different from magic.

It could also just use some exotic effect to actively hoover up neutrinos from around it instead of passively converting any neutrinos which touch it.

So now Joe has a reproducible design for a lattice which defies entropy. Well, if Joe ever needs a bargaining chip with the Entities, he certainly has one. Not that it would be good for the wider universe without some heavy concessions.

Lisa plan have gone off the rail when Joe came to the summit with a team. Before that, she was doing okay, all things considered.

"Plans don't survive contact with Apeiron".
"Oh hey, apparently my powers have another level that they were building up to all this time."
Cue Tattletale becoming telepathic just so that she can scream louder and farther.
I'm looking forward to the Chubster interlude, but also hoping for a Lisa interlude in which she throws an absolute mental fit in her head.
I'm really starting to like the idea of more Lisa and/or Undies POV. Just all out nervous wreck, blubbering, "I can't do this anymore, I give up!" Once she stops trying to fool herself that she can control everything she'll be much better off. That would be a nice bit of secondary character development.

Alec: "Apeiron just stopped having a nervous system"

Lisa: "What are you talking about?"

Alec: "Apeiron. He was sitting there with a nervous system and then had that trance thing and now he doesn't have one anymore"

Lisa: "Ugh my head"

Rachael: "What? Is he OK?"

Alec: "I mean without a nervous system he shouldn't even be alive, but what do I know? I'm not a super Biotinker. Or a Thinker. Hey, Tats, I bet you know everything, right?"

Lisa: "Shut up, Regent.

Alec: "See? She knows what's going on. Can't even explain it for us dumb dumbs because it would fly over our heads."

Rachel, frowning: "What the hell are you talking about? She was wrong about everything happening at the meeting that she told us about using her power so far."

Lisa: "UGH!"

Alec: "Thinkers, man. Leave all the thinking to them. It's what they're good at."

Lisa: "I hate you."

CLONK goes the cart at the top of the roller coaster. Down we go.

Enlightenment is on the table, supernatural mindfulness. Or id superpowers, become the dog with all the bones- pfft nah. Enlightenment. And today that means lancing the baby Entity's plans like the pustule it is.

I read another piece of fiction, that featured cranial/neural implants, recently and that made me think.
These implants are pretty common in Sci-fi settings and I would be surprised if there aren't multiple variants of them available in the Celestial Forge. But how would the Forge handle that?
What happens when Joe gets a neural nanonic (from Peter F. Hamilton's Armageddon trilogy) for example in addition to the neural implant from Halo he already has? Does he end up with 2 similar implants crowding his skull? Will they merge? Will one upgrade the other?

Given how Workshop merges various labs and facilities from all the fiction I am pretty sure Forge will combine two implants with each other. There also a variant which would allow Joe switch between them but I think merge is more likely

Oh yeah there's a ton like pjo would probably have some neat things cause even if you want to ignore Olympus on the grounds of not really knowing what's there camp half blood has a store with interesting things pretty sure it has some nectar and ambrosia so that should qualify there's also standard rpg shops like tales, overlord, fire emblem and kingdom hearts that will offer things like hp and mp restoring consumables and various neat items plus of course sea salt ice cream. Also heard fate extra has neat stuff in its shops but i don't have a psp so can't say as though i have extella that's a hack and slash as opposed to dungeon crawler so the only items in the shop are the mystic codes which the perk lets you make anyway including lore tho it might have some neat things since the areas got a roman and japanese theme cause of nero and tamamo. Harry Potter tho would be a huge one cause of all the wizarding food and magic items.

It was taken over because arcane aka nic was a dumbass.

We have to rebuild for now.

Also fuuuuuuck all of the compiled WoG's... gone. They didn't even delete that much they just deleted the WoGs like come on man. Does anyone know if there are ways to recover deleted messages?

Okay, anyone wanna say how that happened and what they mean by 'Hacked'? How bad, and will I get a virus if I sign in?

No, but you will get spammed by Turks.

As for what happened, Nic, the (Former) Admin of the CF server, downloaded something which ran an EXE command that stole his account. Then some Turks stole the server, deleted the WoG channel and then started banning people.

Can someone please explain these perks to me in detail. Can Joe only have one or the other at any given time. If he switches can he go back to other? Also which one did he pick?
Ok so basically whether or not he has access to Revival or Reaperdom's benefits is based on whether or not he carries the accompanying mindset. Revival is about choosing to confront and grow past your character flaws , whereas Reaperdom is about choosing to simply live with them. It's not about choosing the powers, but choosing the mindset, which happens to come with the powers. From the way it was portrayed, it seems like he has access to whichever one he has the mindset for, with abilities proportionate to how much he falls into that mindset. He mentioned in the explanation of this that just the decision to try to overcome his Doormat flaw already gave him some of the benefits of Revival, making him more resistant to mental effects.

So he has Revival, which will grow as he works to overcome his flaws, but if at any point he Stops making the continual choice to self-improve, he loses Revival and gains Reaperdom. Or something to that effect. He gets the one that best aligns with his outlook/his answer to the question posed ala "Does the world end with you, or is it something more?". It's more than a mere "I want this power"/"I want that power", it's dependent on the way he thinks.

discord drama is maybe the craziest internet-based drama. here's a reminder to everyone not to click on sketchy links or download sketchy files or run sketchy files.

Exorcism Greek Style (sarf)
Exorcism Greek Style

"Tybalt, if you please?" I asked him.

He nodded, stepped down from his chair, marching towards the Butcher. With each step taken his presence unfurled, like a premonition of doom.

"Be merciful, if you can. Some of them were innocent." I continued, as the Butchers started shivering.

The rest of the capes were held fast in their chairs by fear, and in Tattletales case, burgeoning horror.

Tybalt spoke, his eyes burning green spirals. Roughly translated, what he said was "DEATH IS NO BAR TO MY CALL. ATTEND ME, SHADES OF THE FALLEN."

The ghostly visages of the previous Butchers materialized.

I think so?

How do I recover a deleted channel?
Go to the right-pane and choose the 'Channels' option. The channel will be shown under the 'Deleted' list if you select it. Simply click the 'Restore' button next to it to confirm. Confirm your selection by responding Yes or No with Yes or No on the prompt.

Aw man, this sucks. I don't know about recovery, but at least the WOG can be found in other places; sure will be annoying to recollect though.

On my own part: Literally earlier today I was scrolling through the Celestial Grimoire channel looking for story links, but decided to put it off and do other stuff.

Well.

Hopefully that little sub-niche of this niche community manages to repopulate itself…

What the hell do random Turks have against the BCF discord? Wouldn't not deleting things be an easier way to sucker people into clicking links, or wouldn't deleting everything be the easiest way to destroy a random community you hacked?

Did they figure out what people cared about the most and only deleted those bits or something, to be annoying?
