Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

He added it to the spread sheet which he does the power draw for. So it is at this point 100%, confirmed just not in story.

Can confirm that the Reality Constellation perks have been selected and added to the list of possible perks. So damn excited!! And yes, I know I've become a broken record about this, but I am so ready for the Key Link perks, so that he can close the door to his lab while he's in it and then open the door to any door he has used for access in the past, and for the Portal perks, because Cauldron shouldn't be the only ones to have that sweet, sweet portal power! For those interested, the link below is to the list of available perks:

EDIT: Apparently there is no "official" list, and these docs are updated by fellow CF readers. Still, a great way to have an idea as to possible perks available. Apologies all around and a big thanks to those keeping these docs up and running

After looking over the personal reality perks, I'm interested in seeing how some of these perks work with the things Joe, and the duplicates, have already built, for example will computer core add a new system to the workshop or just upgrade the current computer with fiat backed additions.

I'm also interested in how the Jump Topic perk will work for Joe, does he get a store for every world he gets powers from?
Also since we've seen that Garment can use Apeiron gold coins for her powers can Joe spend those coins in his personal mall or will he finally need to become a real mercenary and start doing jobs for cash?

This is on. *fingers cracking*

Eidolon: "I was told there are worthy opponents around here..."
Slack Jash: "No, I don't have any relation with a roguish and charming famous killer. Look: I even have a mustache and he obviously does not. By the way, while we are on that topic, how do you feel about murderhobbo-ing?"
Chubster: "Excuse me? I was promised an interlude a while ago and..."
Fragile One: [Can you make BEST HOST even BETTER !?!!]
Machine Army: "... We are just here to officially claim our allegiance to Lord Matrix, the one that builds all, and Lady Survey, the one that sees all.".
Doctor Mother: "Are you by chance interested in a permanent research position with almost unlimited resources and exciting opportunities? If you wish to stay as a mad scientist, even morals are optional."

"I feel like this meeting has gone quite off the rails, if could all just" but uppercrust was silenced by the sound of the endbringer sirens.

All of the walls flew apart to reveal an angelic figure that suddenly exploded in go del light "i was using that wall" said a snooty scion.

"Never fear! The protector of all that is mice is here!" Said mouse protector who just poofed out of nowhere.

Then bonesaw bonked her from behind and took her to an empty room.

"Yes this is all going according to my timing" said march hidden behind chubster.

Joe for his part just did a pose to express his disappointment at the whole situation.

So, will there be an opportunity for "Dynamic Posing?"

All of the major gangs have shown up and this is a chance, it is "Neutral"

Spree can multi-clone himself?

Time for a Battle of the Bands with music?

Hemorrhagia: *looks at cuddle mink* W-what the hell are you!?

What Hemorrhagia thinks Tetra is saying: YoUR WoRSe niGhTMare. *SKRWEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

What Tetra is actually saying: Hello there new best buddy!
Finally, someone mentions it! The fact that Tetra communicating via an infrared signal that causes her to light up when in use makes her look like a Monster from a slasher film to the rubes is hilarious. Added to that fact is that some of the villains realize that she ordered, was delivered, and proceeded to drink a cup of blood and is now laser focused (heh) on the blood manipulating villain... And the psycho villain who is part of a gang considered one step up from the S9 is freaking the hell out from the attention. I was dying of laughter.

Where was this mentioned? I believe Quarrel just happens to have the (relative) cooperation of most of the previous Butchers, due to the fact that she's part of the Teeth. So instead of driving her insane, in a sense they help her maintain her game face much like how Taylor could offload her emotional responses into her bugs.

As "helpful" as having over a dozen voices in your head constantly sounds though, Quarrel has absolutely no desire to become the next voice in the chorus when she dies. It means, after all, that if she dies, she's forever stuck as yet another screaming voice in someone's head, passed over and over again across the successive Butchers.

You seem to be saying the same thing as I am about their inclination to not want to be a voice in the mass, only without the part where I'm assuming that's what she'd want March the Shard Whisperer's help with: 'Fixing' the power so that she's not a screaming voice but still the personality in control next time.

Yes!! That's exactly what this fic needs: a hero who stands guard against the crimes against Cheesus, Mouse Protector! Unsure of where she is in this and if canon is still in play towards her, but if she's alright (and I'm really hoping she is) then I would love to see an MP interlude that includes her making moves towards the Bay. And if she's not okay, then we need never to mention her and I can pretend that's she off protecting mice everywhere 😊

Best parts of the update: 1.) Survey casually calling out Coil's snipers, 2.) Hemorrhagia finding out she has a fan in Tetra, 3.) Joe telling Butcher to get her damn gun off the table, not as a threat, but just pointing out that the table will break underneath its weight.

I'm curious if Joe would make the offer to 'fix' Butcher, if after doing so she takes her crew, leaves, and never comes back to the Bay. It would probably depend on how the 'fix' works, I suppose. For instance, would she be willing to have that if it separated all the powers save their original power? If the current Butcher did that... would she be able to maintain control over the Teeth afterwards?

One of the things I was thinking about to myself the other day as I was re-reading the previous chapter was basically that we, the readers, know that the Endbringers tend to have targets in the cities they attack, although I don't believe that it is common knowledge. Right now, there are 4 major target players in the Bay that Levi (if he attacks the Bay) would be interested in: Apeiron, Uppercrust, Butcher, and Noelle.

While we're all expecting Leviathan to hit the bay, it almost feels like the city is waving a red cape and yelling "Toro!"

Related: the Pacing Complainers vs the Pacing Defenders battle in the immediate aftermath of chapters is the second best part of BCF updates.
This made me chuckle and I'm debating throwing it in my sig.

Same, I was getting pretty pissed when it looked like Joe was just gonna remain passive again and just placate the Butcher and the rest of the villains when he could stomp them by himself because he's too much of a doormat to actually leave the workshop for more than an hour to take care of them.

It's not... just that. That's not just Joe being a doormat.

On one side, I do believe that last perk gave him the push he needed to actually intervene with the Butcher, but you're forgetting something. He said he'd stick to the rules of the summit if the Teeth did. True, that was when (as the other gang leaders see it) he didn't know it was the Butcher. But still.

Apherion keeping his contracts it a Big Deal. It's the only certainty people have about him, and it does a lot as far as keeping people calm goes. So he can't just kick the Butcher's ass (no matter how cool it would be). But yeah, I do agree that is was kinda cathartic when he interviened (although then the Cliffhanger came in!)

With what Joe's healing nanites are capable of there isn't much Bonesaw can do that he can't fix. His only limits are magical curses or 'a really out of this world super virus', and even the virus is something he can handle. Unless she starts using parahuman powers to alter people he can roll back any level of butchery she attempts. If she tries to put traps or killswitches in them then she's racing the nanites and going up against Joe's understanding of technology. That's not even getting into the fact that she uses mechanical control rigs and is basically hoping her ECM can counter someone like Joe.

Basically, if Joe gets his hands on Murder Rat he'll be able to physically fix them. They might need some therapy or possibly a controlled dose of water, but recovery is possible.

The real question is how against is Bonesaw likely to be about her work when she goes up against Joe, and what else will she have planned?

With recruiting Canary, Joe might feel sorry for her regarding getting stuck with a mind control power, but if he finds out she bought it rather than triggering it will considerably change his opinion. Canary is close to a lot of serious issues for Joe, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

There's no timeline given for when Murder Rat was created, but based on the the fact that she had been deteriorating for a while and was in bad condition when she arrived in Brockton Bay I'm ruling that it's already happened. In fact, based on Interlude 25 is appears Murder Rat was a full member for a brief period, even passing the membership tests before she broke down too much to fully function. Cherish's membership test was probably intended to replace her. Joe could definitely restore her with a Philosopher's stone but frankly might be able to manage it with just his nanites. Bonesaw's work is advanced, but it's not beyond the limits of that power. With Joe's natural science and Big O chimera knowledge he could probably manage it now. Getting any more biotech perks before then would make it much simpler. Really, it's an easier task than curing a Case 53.

Mouse Protector had an odd relationship with he Protectorate. She left the organization, but continued to work as a hero. Saving her would be significant and not just with the Protectorate. Bonesaw has a lot of suffering victims left in her wake and Joe being able to reverse the effects of one of the worst cases and bring a hero (and also a villain, but that's besides the point) back would have massive implications. Just the potential that he might be able to do it is putting him squarely in Bonesaw's sights.
At least she has a chance?

heh, and there goes march's plans, I guess he stayed himself and is no longer under whatever power made everyone forget about that little group of fuckups?
March is a woman, I think we saw her out-of-cape when Joe was at the gym doing background support for Garment's big day - she showed up to mock Flechette subtly and get old, extremely limited run merch signed.

Edited to correct my own misconception.

He definitely knew it was the butcher, survey specifically didn't call out power profiles because he didn't want them freaked out by being able to do it from blocks away.

Late teens to early twenties is not a little girl.
Ehhh, but yeah. Definitely not a little girl to apeiron or doug as was shown in the segment he referenced

"Oh hey, apparently my powers have another level that they were building up to all this time."
Cue Tattletale becoming telepathic just so that she can scream louder and farther.

... no, this is more than that.
This is the power of the entire observable universe.
Neutrinos are streaming out from the Earths core due to the high energy reactions within. Part of the reason that an underwater neutrino telescope was rejected was due to the uranium and other radioactive isotopes in sea water obscuring other neutrinos due to themselves releasing neutrinos - like a radio being jammed.
Neutrinos come from the stars, supernovae, nebula, the edges of blackholes, nuclear fission and fusion... if there is an atomic reaction of some kind, there will probably be neutrinos.
Going underground would only make these things more powerful due to the radiant neutrinos from the Earths core - the only way I can possibly think of to make them really lose power is to go out into intergalactic space, where there is mostly nothing except possibly dark matter and energy.
Except, Neutrinos interacting with a thin sliver of crystal at all is ridiculous. Randall Munroe from XKCD once had a question posted to him by a fan, "What can give you a fatal dose of neutrino radiation?" His answer was: "You have to be in the area of a supernova explosion to die of neutrinos, but at that point the supernova is the bigger problem."

This is because neutrinos just plain don't interact with matter. They're ubiquitous and omnipresent, we are literally bombarded by neutrinos in every direction daily yet... for all those neutrinos, not one atom of us is likely to interact with a neutrino, for our entire lives. That's how "ghostly" neutrinos are, hence why Joe was so stupefied that one piece of crystal the size of a fingernail could actually get energy out of the things - we convert entire salt cave systems just to make neutrino detectors (as in just to detect a single collision to a measurable degree) that's just how much mass you normally need just to get a single interaction, yet this thing could somehow not only capture neutrinos consistently, it's to the degree of converting it to energy.

That's just plain ridiculous but that's the Forge for you.

NOOOO!!!!! *Active breathing to calm down* Okay, there's a chance. Take solace in that. Maybe Joe will be able to fix them and then MP can become a member of Team Forge! Yeah, I'm good with that ending. Oh please Lord don't fail me now!

Yes. I never intended to state or suggest that such a thing as this is actually physically possible.
But everything else I said was still true.
(As an aside - the other reason an underwater telescope was rejected was due to bioluminscence obscuring the photons released by neutrinos colliding with other particles - instead the telescope was made under the ice of Antarctica, where they could clearly watch for the occurrence of blue flashes when Neutrinos manage to collide with atoms and other particles. There is no known method to detect neutrinos without their collision in this manner.
Please don't ruin fun for the sake of absolute scientific correctness.)
