Waterborne transit is always faster than land-based. In Redshore, the mercs could leave immediately and arrive within a few days since catamaran are stupid fast and the Black Sea isn't terribly large.

Please, you aren't even making the actual math necessary for the transport of actual troops together with their equipment's and rations. Do you know that catamarans have a lower value of water displacement which is what make them fast? The afore mentioned displacement that is actually used when you're going to transport massive weights across the sea because of buoyancy ? So for us to transport a massive quantity of troops we need hundred of catamarans. Now imagine beaching that amount of catamarans. Imagine the space, and you get a d-day situation, where each crews would be cut to smithereens by the nomads.

Yeah I agree. While the bonuses for having a high faction strength are really good (Holyshit free Megaproject how why what even), I don't want to have to be on the recieving end of a faction that is both insanely powerful and inanely pissed.

Why 2, though?
Because 3 is when they can start hijacking, they can't at 2, 'cept for Guild.

The free mega is a reward because of a super good roll on that particular quest. The Guilds give half their power as Max Wealth as their high factions strength bonus.

Why is it always the Red Banner mercenary company that gets damaged? They were the ones to nearly be annihilated during the Kings Do Not Kneel fiasco. They were the ones that were cut off, nearly trapped in Greenshore and destroyed during the Trelli war. Now they're the Banner Company that got reduced to half strength after fighting the Trelli. Does Crow hate them?

I took that to mean they always come back.

They may have a in-universe reputation of being "Hard to Kill"

First one: I kinda want FH to take it just to be sure FH are strong and can sit between us and Med. Although honestly, as long as there is stability in trade routes and somebody is keeping the shitty parts of Med from slipping through to here, I don't care who owns it. So mediation it is, because:
pushing further was going to run into a lot of problems internally. Mostly because the casualties of pushing across the strait were going to be enormous. Actually, there more than a few who were pretty sure that the Freehills 'king' was going to accept the gains already made and stop at the strait for the time being.

Also, VINDICATION:
Were it not for the Freehills leadership the Red Banner might have been sundered when they got caught in a box canyon, but fortunately the current leader of the small kingdom was extremely competent at his job.
We'd probably lose a Banner if we went at it alone. Just goes to show we should never ever ever think that we will win the war with no problems.

Phalanx detected:
The new company as well as the experience of fighting with the Freehills warriors, who had their own philosophy of heavy spearmen who could form immovable blocks in the hills and passes of their home, was filtering throughout the People back home.
That's textbook greeks tactics more or less? Only these ones are arming everyone, which honestly...Greeks with Total War and mass conscription is nothing to scoff at.

However, while many of the ideas for paying for things were fairly straightforward, there was a major issue being raised. The Guilds were getting powerful with all of the production they were doing, the swing they had over who would be classified of as essentialy personnel and thus exempt from conscription, and of course when heavily recruiting from artisans and urban workers there was the fact that the guilds then had contacts with plenty of warriors. While at the moment the guilds were mostly just happy, there was some worry that they could force through actions contrary to the desires of others if they wanted to.
Fff. Okay.

Okay, if Guilds are getting more powerful, it means we should concentrate more production in hands of government; which here means, I think, Weapon Storage or Deployment. Because I do not want to see Faction Power 7 Guilds, for all that I am a major fan of them.

Professional armies have dedicated arsenals.

Gotta get them ironworks!! As @PrimalShadow says, better not to use a main to achieve a secondary.

With revelation about Guilds, giving them even more power via Ironworks might be detrimental.

Vote seems relatively benign, so I'm not thinking about it too hard and just going with approval voting for the mercs. Either seems fine.

Has there been much thought about the fact that this is a Prototype Weapon Storage? My hope is that this leads us to a new extended project that provides tech refunds (since it's based on Arsenal) in true cities. This could be the final piece of making Ironworks spamming an econ juggernaught.

Not saying this is a given, or what I'd go for immediately, just tabling the discussion.

Sure Freehills, keep fucking about with the Trelli, that's fine.
And not empowering the guilds further quite yet.

If negotiation fails, we're going to be fighting the Trelli in a pointless and bloody war.

I've seen it somewhere before :V

But, like, Freehills are likely to take it, and Trelli...are harder to predict, but they are losing the war, so. I am not too concerned with the chance to fail. I am concerned with whether Freehills will try to bother Khemetri afterwards.

They are not. Valleyguard is the capital of the...well i guess its not "new" anymore, but the lowlands province we settled via the "south of cataracts" and the like. It used to be HK land before the climate issues way back when. As for the capital, i'm almost certain we only have significant walls, unless i missed something lately, because we got walls around it in the first place by way of a midturn reaction main back in the old action system, i think at the same time as the occupational vs geographical choice; i.e. a secondary now. That makes them significant.
Ah, that makes sense. I forgot that area became its own province. The midturn reaction was what I was thinking of, since I remember the Stallion Tribes building a wall for Stallionpen around the same time. If I'm remembering right, shouldn't Stallionpen's walls be significant as well, since it was under the old system?

Was going reply to various posts, but I can't really be bothered tbh Overall it seems clear that we had a very good chance at taking the city, while Freehills had a very low chance because they have no navy to contest the straits.

For the vote, I'll take the stability and this balances Trelli and Freehills. Trelli still controls the strait, but they have a hostile polity glaring at them. I wonder if the Trelli trade values survived the implosion, would be interesting if they didn't and what replaced them. Mercs have done their job and we need them for pirates, bandits and probably nomads. Not too fussed about which of the Reforms we take, so I guess I'll go with the current consensus. It feels like a long time since we added any annexes to the Palace.

I felt a little inspired, but not too inspired, so I decided to make some basic mockups of the Banner Corps banners.

Also I'm voting.
