? No we don't. We shut that down.
As far as I understand the logic here on a likely progression, inside our
particular system:
King is king because he can make people follow him <- We had this for a bit. Ashryn especially was this. What martial kings use to rule, by beating up or threatening to beat up folks. A very simple method and thought about kingship.
King is king because people think he is worthy to lead them. <- This is a big part of what we still have. Our elective kingship.
King is king because people think he is worthy and that the gods think he is worthy. <- What we have now and a form of divine right.
King is king because people think he is worthy, that the gods think he is worthy, and that the gods follow similar practices to mortals with specific gods acting as running-buddies. <- What we could have had with divine patronage.
... Many steps later.
That running-buddy evolves into a Incarnated God-King system where the mortal king is thought to be a rebirth of a God on Earth. <- What we could have or might still develop. Similar to Pharohs and Horus in ancient Egypt.
This progression is way different in other cultures though. E: though thinking about it this progression is kinda misleading, so I will clarify. The second and third steps on the progression were probably simultaneous and synonymous.
Looks like it's 42:39 in no free city's favor. Truly another soon to be missed opportunity to rise the centralization ceiling. Oh well, fun turn coming up anyway.
We will see if this new group of nomads is going to upset the usual aggression pattern.
Well that pattern has been off for some time, considering the HH. E2: also 42 v 41 in favor of no right now going by NetTally.
