Gah!

We don't need electronics to make a computer at all! Just piping! How did I forget about this?

Fluidics - Wikipedia

It is possible to make a "computer" out of pretty much anything. All you need is to be able to persistently store one of two states, to be able to easily read states, and to easily toggle one state to the other. That's it. You can theoretically do it with explosive seals and LBF tripwire if you really wanted to -- I think I made a post about that a while back.

The hardest thing about building a computer isn't building the physical construct, but understanding computation in the first place.

The most useful thing about a computer isn't that it does computation (lots of things can do computation), but that it reliably does computation really fast.

We aren't going to build any useful computers. Not by a long shot. (Not to mention, what problems do we have that we need computers to solve?)

And yet, people still found MONIACs useful for modelling economies.

Of course we are, it's just a matter of time. I'm aiming to have analogue computers and simple electronics down by the next in-game year, but combining them will take quite a bit longer. We'll need to improve the materials industry most likely, and that will be a time-sink. Once we can build transistors, we can just set the Nara on the project and let them go nuts on making a room-sized tickertape calculator or whatever they had in the fourties.

I shouldn't need to spell out why having computers is good.

Goal of thes training plan is to get everyone to stealth 15. It also works on making Hazō a better ninja in the field. Choose to level MEW to get one step closer to earth jutsu reduced cost
[X] Training Keiko: Stealthy ninja
Stealth 12 [12]
Stealth 13 [25]
Stealth 14 [39]
Stealth 15 [54]
Save 19 exp

[X] Training Noburi: Stealthy ninja
Stealth 12 [12]
Stealth 13 [25]
Stealth 14 [39]
Stealth 15 [54]
Save 9.5 exp

[X] Training Hazou: Stealthy puncher

Stealth 11-12 (23 xp)
Roki 12 (33 xp)
Capacity 11 (22 xp)
Multiple earth walls 7 (7 xp)
Save 0 exp

[X] Training Keiko: Stealthy ninja
[X] Training Noburi: Stealthy ninja

[X] Training Hazou: Stealth at full Capacity

Stealth 11-12 (23 xp)
Capacity 11-12 (46 xp)
Roki 10 (10xp)
Save 6 exp

Prioritizing Capacity, since that is our bottleneck to fast movement. Unlikely we'll need to punch things, but we probably should get Roki 10-12 eventually. I'm not sure I agree with getting MEW to 10 just to have the discount. We don't need the discount for anything at present, nor do we have prospects of getting more useful Doton jutsu.

With Noburi having 650 chakra points don't think we have to worry about running dry

Capacity limits Hazou's ability to use Noburi's chakra. This will give him +20 base and +10 from Noburi. This means one additional boost before needing to refill.
Ehh you're not wrong. Leveling Capacity is basically 2 more dice to chakra boost with. I'd still give a slight edge to levelling Roki to more often win the deception roll.
Regardless I think the most important thing is making sure Hazou get's the full benefits of stealth
[X] Training Hazou: Stealth at full Capacity

Edit: Also if we level capacity to 12 We will have the chakra reserves for Hazou to make 2 earth clones in combat. which is a cheap way to get 2 taijutsu dice. Especially after we get earth wall to 10

I presume you would agree that we should also presently divert resources to working on spacesuits, since we will eventually want to travel in space?

You jest, but when we get a good opportunity to R&D without pressing issues.... yes.

Primitive space travel is possibly even easier than computers, with seals and jutsu. Hell, basic space suits might even be needed to skywalk above the troposphere lest we run into problems of a low-oxygen nature.

I never said we should drop everything and build a computer, but it should be something we do in the next year, definitely. And yes, spacesuits are also in that category.

We can get a foothold on electricity tech with morse code, which to Jiraiya would serve as instantaneous long-range communication, with the caveat that a continuous line of wire has to exist, which may be tricky. Radio would be better, but require more components and are generally more complex, so it'd be best to start with morse code to prove the potential.

For basic morse code, we need:
  • A switch which sends a DC current down a wire.
  • Something to make a sound while receiving DC current.
The goal isn't to have something impressive and useful, since outside of Konoha chakra beasts might break the wire and within Konoha there wouldn't be much demand, but we can use it to say 'I get the feeling electricity can be pretty useful' and justify working on the development of radio, which is guaranteed something Jiraiya would want.

e: also with some basic experiments with wire and electricity Hazou can invent very crude lightbulbs.

@faflec kei is probably our best diplomat would bring her personally

Should also give dumbbutt a list of questions about her bloodline and general abilities. This also serves the function of making the rest of the team defend her from Hazō's madness
It really isn't insanity, it's a useful thinking tool and I don't like how the rest of the team is treating it.
Honestly, I can understand why one or other of the QMs would be annoyed enough at missing sleep to come up with the idea, but it's not actually helping the story. I'd prefer a retcon (or a quiet dropping of the subject), but I'll go for solving it with CCnJ if we have to.

Pretending that Jiraiya will ever be Hazou's dad is going to lead to terrible, terrible things happening. ...entertaining, maybe, but still terrible.

It's not particularly necessary to exactly ascribe Jiraiya's role, anyway.
Besides, he seems more appropriate as a grandfather, anyway. Spends way more time showing us tricks and sneaking us presents than he does diciplining us or demonstrating how to act like a responsible adult. :p
