Also, I don't think that Hazou should be the one to brief her on Noburi and Keiko -- ask them to do so themselves. It might not be quite as accurate, but having a friend tell you superior all about you is kind of skeevy. It's understandable with Kagome -- there are safety and security reasons there -- but the other two can speak for themselves.
[X] Action Plan: A Running Conversation
Our mission is a B rank information drop. We have been provided scrolls to distribute to each outpost around the boarders of Leaf and out side the boarders of Leaf with all possible speed in a clockwise fashion. The goal of which is to update all deployed locations with critical information related to current events via the scrolls, along with having our team out of the capital for a time so that to political landscape can recover from the sudden shift. We are given discretion on how to handle travel methods as well as rendering any support to the outposts. Personally I think we should only take short duration D rank missions at the first few outposts as critical information should be dropped of before we start digressing to much. The latter outposts on the list will be less critical and we can invest more time rendering assistance.
Edit: Actual wording of the mission as given by Jiraiya.
Goals:
Survive.
Build trust with our team Leader Minami.
Build trust within the ranks of the ninja of Leaf.
Complete our mission with all due haste.
Stay out of the hair of our Clan Leader.
Methods:
Make all haste towards the first few outposts via Sky walkers, staying just below the tree tops as the outposts are still land bound. Make conversation with Minami about what we should expect to do for this type of information drops and what sort of support the outposts would need and how long a circuit of all outposts of Leaf should take for a typical team of ninja. If possible encourage some team building training while one the run towards the outposts. Include Minami in our normal routine and encourage the rest of the team to make friends with her and the Ninja we meet at the outposts.
For the outposts, be polite and let Minami take the lead in conversation with the outpost leaders as she is the ranking officer but offer up friendly conversation when able to the other ninja at the outposts. For the first third of the leg of our trip offer up our services for any D rank missions to assist the outpost. Get the documentation for all services rendered beyond the information drop. Possible D rank missions would include latrine duty, maintenance of the structure of the outpost, pest control, resupply of basic consumables such as chopping wood and foraging for food. Be ready for these types of tasks to be handed down to us as we are going to be perceived as green recruits. Do not whine or complain that our talents would be wasted doing these tasks, our mission is to be seen by the Ninja of Leaf as being helpful and loyal ninja.
Once we complete about one third the number of outposts we can start to relax our pace to include more travel time if we are ahead of schedule compared to a more typical ninja team doing this same task by the standard Minami would say is normal. We should use this extra time to have a more involved training sessions and show Minami what our normal routine was while missing ninja as a way to build trust and companionship with our team leader as it is likely we will be under her command for at least the short term. A good friendship with her is also beneficial as when she gets back to Leaf Capital she will be questioned by everyone about our behavior, loyalty and work ethic and we would be best suited by having her value us as part of Leaf and thus report to who ever questions her things that will make us look good.
Added Methods and considerations.
- The team completely talked over Minami during the introduction. If she's going to be team leader, at a minimum, the interruptions need to end now. Honestly, we should probably apologize for it.
- CCnJ seems like the perfect tool for integrating a newcomer into an existing tight-knit group. Let's introduce the idea early.
- Kagome is going to continue to be hostile to Minami for at least a while, and while the team will work on him, we need to let Minami know she needs to treat him like the crazy uncle that you ignore at family gatherings. Except in this case it's more complicated than that because she needs to ignore all the fluff and gratuitous insults while paying extremely close attention to the actual content because that's how we all don't end up dead.
- We need to split up Mari's role in the team to the new group. Some of that obviously goes to Minami who has been slotted into the position Mari held, but given her lower field experience and outsider status, it doesn't make sense for her to take all of it. (Note that already having introduced CCnJ will make this conversation go much easier.)
- Minami is in charge of overall strategy, per Jiraiya. She sets our immediate goals, interprets the orders, and decides which of the requests we get should we help out with.
- If we find ourselves in a combat encounter, tactical control should fall to the team, with existing team dynamics suggesting that this would mean Hazou. He would still be responsible for tactics being consistent with the strategy that Minami has laid out. We should add some code though to let Hazou and Minami confer at least somewhat if our tactical position makes our strategic goals untenable and we need to bug out or whatever.
- Per existing team doctrine, everyone is a big boy or girl and knows enough about the overall situation to interpret their orders in a way to maximize success (see Best Apprentice setting the PMYF kunai on fire to allow us to substitute a greater distance each time) with the understanding that they are responsible for not being stupid (see Dumbbutt Apprentice not telling people she was running low on chakra). We would still need to rein in Kagome's twitchiness.
- Keiko, per her bloodline, can override any decision by anyone in the group, including Minami. This may involve tweaking a plan or just critiquing what's wrong with it, but no one has the option to ignore her on this. Leaf may already have protocols (formal or informal) for what to do when there's a Nara on the team who is not in command, and they wouldn't likely apply exactly, but it would still be a good starting point for how Minami should interact with her.

Take what you want from the plan as well as offer suggestions on how to make things better.
Writing out an action plan due to general lack of plan. Suggestions welcome.
[X] Action Plan: Welcome to the Team
Goal:
1. Survive.
2. Integrate.
3. Train.
Methods:
Talk to Minami.
Train.
- Apologize for the team's unprofessional conduct.
- Explain the concept of CCnJ.
- Explain the quirks of team members and how to get along/manage them.
- Most importantly, how to prevent Kagome-sensei from blowing up the nearest stranger or herself or anyone.
- Hazo's foot in the mouth syndrome.
- Depression spiral for Keiko.
- Noburi's image problem.
- Akane's very sunny deposition.
- Campfire stories.
- Have everyone share stories. Help integrate the newcomers.
- Introduce Pandã as well.
- Minami and Akane are the least integrated members of the team.
- Do training and team exercise when possible.
- Practice with skywalkers as well, since nobody on the team knows how to use them in combat save Jiraiya.
For visibility sake the plan I have made once more.
Once we get the information about the mission I can add to the methods of how to carry it out.
We could always just ask Kei if it's alright if we debrief Minami on the mental effects of her bloodline's use so she doesn't make the mistake that Hazou did when he first met her to ask her to overuse it. Ask Noburi too for safety's sake.Just straight up explaining everyone's insecurities and problems would likely be viewed as something of a betrayal, at least by almost everyone I know. I rate that a catastrophically bad idea. I predict it would cause major problems within the group if the others ever learned about it. Having Hazou explain his own problems is fine, but doing so if Minami is not considered by Team Uplift to be part of the group would be a very bad idea.
Kagome's issues need to be explained. Similiarly, we should explain that Keiko's bloodline pushes her towards passivity and depression when used. That would probably be fine, and is something it's necessary for her to know. Keiko's more general struggle with depression and Noburi's body image issues, less so. At least not until Minami is getting along well with the group. Currently, Minami is viewed by Team Uplift as an outsider, and explaining problems and insecurities beyond what is necessary could easily be viewed as a betrayal.
Yeah, I'm mostly waiting for Akane's character sheet to be updated before I decide whether or not to go with her or Keiko. I put Akane's name because Jiraiya mentioned her as being a diplomat, and because Keiko probably wouldn't enjoy doing diplomat work even if she is better.@faflec kei is probably our best diplomat would bring her personally
Fair enough. Though we should also see about getting Minami a seal load out. Can talk to Kagome about how those leaf stinkers don't teach people the true value of seals. Then say something like she's probably never seen more than 10 explosive tags go off at once.Yeah, I'm mostly waiting for Akane's character sheet to be updated before I decide whether or not to go with her or Keiko. Oh my god this would be wonderful to read. Then say something like she's probably never seen more than 10 explosive tags go off at once.
[X] Action Plan: Akatsuki Rising
- Get to the Rivers contact.
- Use Skywalkers to move from Konoha to the place.
- If not already done, brief Akane & Minami on their use, and give them Skywalkers to use.
- Make sure that when ascending or descending we aren't spotted.
- Whenever resting, do so using Skytower technology.
- Keep a standard watch out for flying chakra monsters.
- Make contact.
- Everyone going to the contact together is too conspicuous (esp. with Kagome and Noburi's barrel).
- Hazou and Akane, the team's liar/diplomat, can go make contact. Akane can take point to deliver the message.
- Minami uses her bloodline to keep watch on both the team and the surroundings.
- Use Henge to turn into the appropriate cover, based on our knowledge of the contact.
- Discuss this beforehand; between Hazou, Keiko, and Minami this should be easy.
- Make sure we're prepared.
- Minami and Akane have seal loadouts, courtesy of Hazou and Kagome.
- Everyone's topped off with Noburi's chakra beforehand.
- We have misterators for blocking LOS and for absorbing chakra through mist (clan secret, only Noburi gets to say this part).
- Deliver the message, and ask if they have more messages to send or need "short-term muscle".
- Don't commit to giving muscle to the contact; discuss with the team first.
- Talk with Akane (copied from @Jello_Raptor's plan).
- Gene
rally be truthful about our feelings.- We're sorry about getting kicked out.
- We're sorry about not sending her a letter or anything sooner after talking to her father.
- Optionally, at Hazou's discretion: (following are sentiments Hazou wants to express, not things Hazou says verbatim)
- I don't think you father was actually wrong about some stuff.
- On reflection being both your sensei and your partner seems problematic.
- I want to be your equal in a relationship, not your superior.
- I worry that the power dynamics of being a sensei and being a partner interact badly and can become something exploitative or abusive, even without one of us noticing.
- We will always have stuff to teach each other and we should.
- I want to know that, when you think I'm wrong, you'll tell me.
- My judgement is not perfect, or even all that good, really.
- I think the whole missing-nin issue is sorted though. *smug face*
- (If we sleep in a Skytower) Wake up to watch the sunrise with Akane.
- @Velorien Please please please write this scene, it'll be beautiful.
- Generally catch up.
- Integrate Minami with the team. (HELP)
- Explain to her how the team's decision-making process works, both in non-emergent and emergent situations.
- Make a list of questions about Minami's bloodline to ask her.
- Hazou treating Minami like a part of the team helps the team warm up to her.
- How far away can you see using your bloodline?
- Is it blocked by LOS?
- How much chakra does it take?
- How much concentration do you need (if attacked can you use it while fighting)?
Discuss our abilities and weaknesses, invite the other members of the team to do the same. Do Kagome.
Kagome: *gibbers madly as he reaches for his rings* I KNEW IT YOU STINKING NINJA STINKER GET AWAY FROM ME I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO DO I'LL NEVER WORK FOR YOUR SLAVEMASTER KAGE
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT.Kagome: *gibbers madly as he reaches for his rings* I KNEW IT YOU STINKING NINJA STINKER GET AWAY FROM ME I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO DO I'LL NEVER WORK FOR YOUR SLAVEMASTER KAGE
Mari: *suddenly appears to ruffle Hazou's hair* Oh wow, if I knew you were into that I would've helped set you up with Chouji.
Chouji: *eats a potato chip*
Noburi: OK, I did not see that one coming.
Akane: *giggles* Hazou-sensei, maybe once we get back we can do some early training with Guy-sensei and Lee-sensei.
