I'm mildly inclined against leaving an Uplift mark here as well. For the paranoia reasons, of course, but also because it's kind of... lame.
Like, there were some ancient ninja there before, who left their marks, for whatever reasons. Then the Sannin came and also left their marks. And now we do it too, because... why? Like, we wouldn't do it otherwise, if we didn't see the Sannin et al.'s markings. The idea wouldn't even occur to us. We came here to extract valuable resources. We have zero romantic feelings with regards to dungeon-diving, we do not feel wonder at the beauty of this natural miracle, nor a timeless connection to those who were here before us, nor a need to prove something to any hypothetical people who'd come here after us. If we do this, this wouldn't be because of some meaningful internal motivation; we'd just be doing it because everyone else is doing that too. Lame!

And we don't even know that everyone else is doing it! We only have records of the people who did go and leave a mark, there could be just as many, even ten times as many people who visited the cave and didn't leave a marking. What kind of peer pressure is that! Imagine if we gave in and left a mark because everyone else is doing it, only to later find that we actually just joined the club of niche weirdos who felt unnecessarily attached to leaving indentations in stone.
I propose, to sufficiently determine if we should leave an indentation or not, that we hold a study where we measure how many ninjas discover this cave over the next few decades and use that to determine the actual ratio of markers to non-markers. If it turns out that markers outweigh non-markers, only then can we allow ourselves to feel the peer pressure.

We're finally following up on a plot thread that connects across time to our lost family and we're just going to plunder it and move on silently in the night?

IIRC, we only leveled it to 50 because we were still trying to unlock Primordial Sealing. I don't think we've touched Earthshaping since we unlocked Primordial Sealing.
I remember that even leveling it to 50 was a long debate.
