On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

This is the hopeful answer and so I think the one Thungi would have gone for. Both Elder and Warrior are good contenders for who goes down last when the world dies, but that does not feel like something he would have gone for.

Karstah was better suited to the speed trial than Snorri. She actually had a speed enhancing item in Stonestrider which was MWandering on it. Snorri taking the trial would be reduced to running full tilt while BA keeps him from getting tired and the occasional yeet from Mhorni.

Not so coincidentally, this would be the trial High King Grudgebearer would fail at where he to take a similar trial.

Also just flat out negating any damage the Pillars can do to him

I think Snorri passed but in a different way than Karstah, TBH.

Snorri was speedy thinking, Karstah was speedy moving.

[X] [Statue:] Elder

a trio of a warrior, a mother, and an elder: clearly the elder Ancestor Gods

who carved the rune of azamar, promising that so long as the rune endures, the karaz ankor will as well? Grungni.

yes, but this is what perseveres, not what preserves.

I like the argument for the elder, which represents Grungni and by extension the Karaz Ankor

To persevere is to endure throughout opposition, challenges or adverse circumstances.

To preserve something is to make sure it perseveres through time.

And as mentioned, a Mother IS an Elder, especially to her children.

And there is no fiercer Warrior than a Mother whose home, people and, most of all, family, is threatened.

And for extra solemnity... Snorri knows one long lost... loved one... who would have wanted to meet Karstah and finally be a Mother.

as long as the family perseveres the other two as well through them, new warriors come from them, and even a new karaz ankor will arise from them

Just a thought, all answers are correct, but the most correct version has the fewest or no dragons fire.

Like one option is 6 dragons, another is 4 and so on. Or it really is a binary yes no option.

How the hell was he supposed to respond to instant teleportation of his daughter? You might need to reread it, Kars was teleported into a chamber of some kind and had a moment to breath and realize what was going on before running.

There is literally nothing, absolutely nothing that snorri or any of his hearthguard could do to affect anything at all related to the teleportation. There was nothing to fail because he wasn't taking the trial.
Probably the fastest member of the party got picked by GM. Same would happen if we got warding or the other option.
Stats/Skilled tested will be from the best of the two runelords.

In a test of speed rather than run he stood still and replaced the collapsing pillars. It feels like not matching the intent of the test.

Settled on going with my first gut.
[X] [Statue:] Mother
Being able to defeat the test itself count as a win, I would imagine. Even if it would have Thungi grumble he should have used something stronger.

[X] [Statue:] Mother

Seems the most likely to me. A mother must persevere through everything. While in the end warriors fall and elders reach their end.

While Mother is probably the right choice from a philosophical perspective, I think it's at least worth mentioning that Warrior is a strong contender for the bonehead, "well, DUH. Of course it's XYZ" pick. Perserverance is central to the Dawi concept of war - they hold on out of sheer stubbornness and slowly attrite the opposing force.

The arc itself is also called "The Enduring WAR Rune". :p

But yeah I think that the Mother is correct. After all, even the Ancestor Gods eventually left the fate of the world in the hands of their children.
