The condors seem pretty reasonable, we could just volunteer our crimes up front.

"So, the pangolin boss tricked us into thinking you'd blocked off their access to an important religious/diplomatic site, and they needed ways to defend themselves against your aggression. By the time we discovered the truth, we were beholden to a superior who ordered us to continue the arms deal. That person is now no longer our superior. The pangolin summoner and I cut the deal off, and would dearly like to help the Condors regain what was taken from them, if possible."

It skims over some details, but is broadly speaking correct, and if they discover the truth later and feel we lied to them, then that could make future relations untenable. Otoh, now, in a trapped cave entrance, where we can unsummon, where we've only just made contact, might be the ideal circumstances to come clean.

We could...
  • Convince them to be scouts for us wrt the Dragon Corpses (it's not like they can say no if they want safe passage back) and then kill them once they've outlived their utility, or just not save them from attacks
    • We'd get more detailed information, but it would have Hazou being his worst self and falling into instrumentalization. It would also involve social rolls, which he's bad at.
  • We could make a good impression of them, in the hopes that they might be able to change the other Condors' minds about Hazou
    • Unlikely, tbh. Hazou is a known arms dealer, and, according to Kei, is reviled throughout the Seventh Path (iirc). Far more likely that these Condors just assume Hazou is lying.

I know it's fruitless and won't change anything, but I still want to send these Condors off with food supplies and other non-weaponizable supplies. We can't meaningfully help the Condor Rebellion without risking Kei's safety, but we can at least ensure that they're not starving. Maybe we can work something out with Cannai (idk, semi-permanent residence between Dog and Arachnid?), in return for the Condor Rebels helping against the Dragons?

The testimony of these Condors at the Crusade Discussions would go a long way towards getting the Bosses to move their asses... of course, having their firsthand testimony might spur the Bosses to move against the Pangolins, instead of the Dragons. They might even use a Crusade against the Pangolins as a testing ground for the entire concept of a Crusade.

Hm.

Yeah, let's just quietly arrange for these Condors to die here, on the island. Much simpler. (joking)

[X] Convince them to be scouts for us wrt the Dragon Corpses (it's not like they can say no if they want safe passage back) and then accidentally them once they've outlived their utility

"Er," Hazō said, "if that's okay with Kumokōgō, the Arachnid Empress, since we'd be ferrying you into Arachnid territory. Kagome can check with her after we're done here."

Contorite raised a wing. "So long as her people will not attack us while we are aboard the ship, you needn't bother the Empress. We are used to being unwelcome strangers. The islands of Archaeopteryx are too far from the mainland for us to fly in a single stretch, but if you can ferry us even halfway, we can make it to Arachnid and find a place to truly rest. If you think it is likely she will refuse, then please, do not ask. Just get us close enough for us to make the rest of the way on our own.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail @Paperclipped Do we believe Kumokogo is likely to refuse?

[X] Action Plan: The Offscreened Dance, with Some Snowflake Retcons
Word Count: <300
  • Sanity check everything with Mari.
  • Throw a small, private party (close friends/family only, their polycules obviously invited)
    • Food
    • Hire a band that Akane and Ino, specifically, like.
    • Moonlight.
    • Floating lanterns.
    • Arrange Arachnid entertainment if Kagome can manage.
      • Aerial silk dancers? Trapeze?
      • Find an Arachnid interesting in learning about human fashion/artistry, and introduce them to Ino. Tell Ino to come prepared.
    • Show off.
      • Dance with Ino and Akane.
      • SCs use ES to make the dance floors rise.
        • 15x15 square dance platforms rising 16m, slowly spins around like a screw.
        • Hire + consult with a mosaic artist to have one of the SC ES the dance floor with a simple moving pattern without tripping up feet.
    • Talk about getting or not getting used to a life like this.
  • Offer a dance to Snowflake
    • Tone: not flirtatious, people dance with people at parties and we don't want Snowflake to be left out

They might then refuse our help on principle and stay there to die or something. Better wait until they're in Arachnid, I think.
[come up with possible reasons here, bandwidth permitting]
I don't think it has anything to do with the dance moves Ami was making at all. From Hazou's description, it sounds more like it's an Iron Nerve thing in its entirety, something to do with using it in a particular intense way; and it just so happens that "challenging dancing" is one such way.

Hm, challenging high-stakes dancing. It'd probably be challenging to dance with someone without touching them. Wouldn't it? If only there was someone else who'd be interested in this kind of activity for their own reasons...

Hazou SC XP: 5.4 (xp/day) x (1.8-.3) x 10 (days) + 5.4 × (1.8-.3 - .1 [mild]) x 2 (days with mild) = 96.12 SC XP
Akane SC XP: 81 × 2.1 = 170.1 SC XP
Kei SC XP: 81 × 1.7 = 137.7 SC XP

Someone wanna double check my math on Hazou?

...Is it a problem for us, personally, if they decide to die there?

There was an "Archaeopteryx Summoner" mentioned. Probably dead now and the Scroll is definitely useless, but worth asking who was that. If nothing else, maybe we get to grab a dead Scroll to poke at.
Didn't the plan call for asking what their summoners name was? Though I guess it said ask the Archaeopteryx, not the condors :V

There are other possible explanations but the most likely one is that the HOWS are (for now) working!
THEY'RE ALL IN THE OCEAN EATING THE CRUSTACEANS AND KRAKENS AIEEEEEEEEEEE

Yeah, don't know which was the true answer but if Contorite and co. actually met the Archaeopteryx Summoner Deidara probably was the Summoner.
Didn't they say the Summoner was a she? Though I guess Deidara is somewhat feminine...

Humans are weird as fuck, tbh, especially if you take into account the perspective of a non-primate species. I could see the Condors thinking "human females have long head-fur, right? I heard that from my grandparent, once."

Looks good but I'm sleepy so I may not be the best judge

also:
(It is not clear how much time Hazou had to study the notes. Presumably he wasn't doing much else during the 3 day boat ride, but there was also researching mixed into the update that usually take up the whole day, but only for Prime, so for convenience I'm just going to assume he was able to work it into his schedule. Maybe he read extra on the boat ride idk.)

(EDIT: Though, now that I think about it, he wouldn't have clones out during the boat ride? Maybe we should just subtract a day or two off or something...)

Hazou Sealing notes xp (15 days of study, 4 blocks a day. 15 * 16 = 240 Sealing XP.)
  • Jiraiya's Sealing Notes: S:450, B:762, R:288

Noburi notes XP (3 per day * 15 days = 45 XP.)
  • Oro MedKnow Notes #2 : S: 0, B: 78, R: 22
Akane notes XP (3 per day * 15 days = 45 XP. Only 34 remain on the MedKnow notes, so she will continue the MedNin notes as well for 11 more XP, total of 44.)
  • Oro MedKnow Notes #1: S: 65, B: 45, R: 0
  • Oro MedNin Notes #1: S: 0, B: 44, R: 56

It's already subtracting 3 days for the boat ride, fortunately.

...Is it a problem for us, personally, if they decide to die there?
*shrug* They may be our way to involve ourselves with the Condors and plot Pantsaa's downfall, or see if such collaboration is at all possible. They also don't seem to be the villains here (or anywhere, as far as we know), so provoking them to irrationally refuse our help and subsequently leaving them to die would probably be a negative-utilons event from an altruistic perspective. But no, I don't particularly care.

What would be inconvenient is if they ganked us here, forcing us to unsummon — wasting us days of the trip and whatever other intel they might've supplied, and making this terrain dramatically more hostile on subsequent trips (now with intelligent adversaries hunting us).

(Wait, does Kumokogo know about our arms-dealing ways? She probably won't care, and I feel like we would've mentioned it at some point, but I don't recall off the top of my head. @faflec?)

We should probably offer the information to the Summon Council that is currently wasting time bickering, both the "Clans eaten by the dragons become unintellingent" and the "There are more than 6 Dragons, so the Arachnids won't hold forever".
Possibly we should also had "Dragons really got stronger after eating a Boss Summon, so losing another could be very bad news".

Also, is it possible that the Dragons are waiting for the seal to weaken, so that they have more dragons to invade the other Clans?
