On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I think a more logical first step is to have Karstah try on the armour. Does the elemental still form, and does it still take Snorri's form.

I do not think putting the armour on the elemental is an option (or even a good idea) , because my impression is that it can only be summoned while it is worn.

Secondly, Snorri would also not let the elemental out of his supervision until he understands how its mind works. Does it inherently have an understanding of Dwarfs similar to a gronti, or is it just reading his mind?

Apart from that, my thoughts of such things were limited to temporary things. Such as a Rune of Forged Eye on a helmet so that you didn't need eye holes and instead the helmet itself served as your eyes, which would give you a vastly greater range of vision and so situational awareness than wearing a normal helmet. This is surprisingly important, particularly for a commander on a battlefield, as they'd otherwise have to take their helmet off to properly see what was happening at scale, but wearing a helmet literally causes tunnel vision.
Personally, i would prefer one of those clockmaker or jeweler doohickeys with multiple sets of lenses, each lense runed to view different sort of phenomenon. wouldn't really be fragile because it would be made of adamant, and it fits the aesthetic better.

Haven't we actually done all of these already when Yorri was teaching us the Runes of Sensation? I distinctly remember Snorri having to go around with a third arm, if only to drive home the point that having a third eye or an extra arm without the accompanying motor skills sucks.
That does sound familiar, even so I'd still contest that Snorri saw it as a lesson NOT to do that, instead of a Lesson about finding the right way to do it. Thanks for reminding me about this though.

Mutation is a real threat that humans in WFB have to deal with, but dwarves and elves have much less of an issue with it, apparently.
I can only guess that that is due to them being sensible about it. Also even if it doesn't affect them personally, they do keep goats, and I think I remember it mentioned here (it could be an omake, I can't recall) that when the chaos moon showed up, it caused all their livestock to mutate and murder their minders. This was when the dwarves had settlements above ground if I recall rightly.

I think it was actually in-quest story linked to Valaya or something. Can't quite remember the details

So it's in Snorri's mind, but relegated to the same drawer as the master rune of forgeflame.
The possibility exists but he hasn't thought of a practical use for it.
Yet.

After all why use a third arm, when you have an heir that provides two arms and a useful second perspective?

My only issue about third arm and all that stuff is that....we a rune priest, that kind of stuff is what you expect from a engineer of some form, we will need the engineer equivalent of Gift giver.

Not for a warrior. Just a helmet with a face, including eyes, sculpted on the front would be better. Helmets with masks on them existed and I don't think would be out of theme for a dwarf.

Dwarves and elves are more resistant to chaos taint and mutation but far from immune. Plenty of wood elves have turned into chaos spawn because of Morghur. Then you have the various bull mutations of chaos dwarves.

There are elves (the Anointed) that lived in the chaos wastes for thousands of years in canon with only cosmetic mutations to eye and skin colours.

The chaos dwarf mutations look a lot more like forms of chaos 'blessings' than random mutation.

Dwarves and elves can be mutated by direct magical attack by the likes of Morghur; but environmental mutation seems much less of a problem.

War mask

But speaking of piggybacking on the geomantic ley lines to communicate; that would be a great thing to have during the time of woes.

The Slann's changes would not break that connection.
---
Just as importantly, it could help avert the war of the beard.
The dwarf Envoy does not need to go to Ulthuan to present Karaz Ankor's grievance. No Shaving happens, and therefore no oil poured on the fire.

One of the biggest changes that fast communication does is improve the reliability of diplomacy, by shortening the time it takes for communication.

Via the rune of Speech, it would be the equivalent of having a telephone line between holds. Putting one endpoint on Ulthuan would be the equivalent of the intercontinental telegraph line.

[X] Vragni Silverbrand and his horde of attendant apprentices.
[X] Brynna quietly watching a group of Zornish warriors go about their duties.
[X] Let them come to you. Random Encounter.

We nee to finally talk with Vragni and I want to know more about Brynna.
They are also Runelords so we might get a runetrade going.

Random encounter because it promises to be interesting.

Edit:
Thoughts on the Update:
-We should place the rune of syphoning next to our Adamant smelters and also trade it to the brotherhood for favour.
-Research + Karstah actions should go to the frostbird feather next turn. This fulfills Karstahs wish while providing progress on Akazit.
-doing anything with the rune of brotherhood should wait until we finish the next part of Mind, it's only 2 actions away.

Both Vragni and Brynna are conservative and Vragni especially dislikes us.
Sven is a better chance for a Rune trade, but thats not happening unprompted given we've never met before and have nothing especially that either want a lot.

Tbf Brynna seems to respect Snorri pretty well and is pretty amicable, if overly formal. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if what we're doing right now burnt that bridge.

Now that we're talking about medical prosthetics... it wouldn't surprise me if more than one Dawi engineer in the canon timeline was stress-testing an iron lung design or two for a few centuries after losing kin to Skaven gas-attacks.

*Will burn that bridge. In about half a century at earliest.
Just fixed that for you.
Yeah, it's not likely she'll realise what we're doing right now, but in a couple turns or so it'll be hard to miss.
Edit: if you think people won't catch on to what we're doing until it's finished I'm just gonna say that's wrong. They won't get the full details right away, but some will absolutely realise what kind of thing we're attempting. The scale alone makes it hard to miss, let alone anyone paying attention to labourer movement or Snorri dropping cash and calling in favours left and right.

The current situation is very similar to when we got the Runetrade with Valma.
That is to say, we are going to be campaigning together and we are wearing our brand new mythic gear with peculiar effects.

Considering how long it has been since the last I wouldn't be surprised if we got a trade going during this campaign.

If this campaign is in fact a multi turn thing (not multi update, multiple turns with multiple action investments) like some people have speculated, we can probably expect another Valma trade. Soul said she's been campaigning a few times, and between learning elven language and texts, Mhorni, and our new deep magic tap? We have a lot to talk about with her. And that's if we don't also do Movement 5b for the quasi-elementals.

As if the Fimir will last more than ten years after we come in to personally wreck their faces :V

I don't care to argue precisely when the bridge will be burnt.
All I care about is that its not already burnt as your original post said.

I think you underestimate how Radical Valma is.
Name: Valma Hilldasdottir
...
Affiliation: Totally Kick Flipping Radical my dude
Brynna is not quite the other side of the scale, that would be a Zorn conservative, she's a conservative.

There's something that I've grappled with since this quest's inception, especially as I get more involved in Khazalid for obvious reasons. It poked at my brain for a long long while now, maybe even since I started getting deep into Dwarf lore, but only becoming really a point of frustration thanks to this quest.

Namely the, well names, of the Far Northern Holds. I've sort of held on to this realization for a few weeks now, and to my knowledge I've not spread this anywhere but through DMs and the discord but I figure I may as well say it here first, at least publically.

Karak a Drak(k) - Hold of the Dragon/Dragon Hold
Krak a Drak(k)
Kraka Drak(k)

(Which as Boney pointed out when I proposed this idea brings up the question of why the spelling both drifted and chose to follow the whole Karak A convention that Everpeak uses instead of the other Holds, I am forever damned with questions. Life is sufferin) That is all, happy second anniversary, thank you.

Languages are made out of exceptions to the rule as much as the rule itself.
My original explanation was that a Kraka was a specific type of mountain, however I also like ideas like it was how rangers called it before it was given a proper name (strictly that would be Karaz a Drakk I think) and then it got turned into a pun
The Mountain that a dragon was nesting inside. Would be a very important mountain to be aware of.
It also could be something to do with the settlers being primarily of a specific group with a that quirk in their dialect.

I think the big problem is that theres no clear root word for Kraka. Linguistic drift from Karak is the best explanation, however its hard to fit that into the timeframe. the a is much easier to explain.

Or it could be that Dwarves as they grow older and beardier become that most hideous creature, a being that enjoys ridiculously subtle puns it takes Generations to realize exist, if they do at all.

Kraka Drakk could just be the Hold founder's own personal pun, naming his Hold after the Dragon that was killed for it. Both a pun and a blatant reminder of how the hold was founded, being built out from the heart of a dragon nest.

Remember, theres never only One meaning in all things! Oh sure, Runes are all built for reliability and ease of use, but thats only surface deep! Mix and match certain runes, and powerful combinations can you unlock!
