I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Tally Weirdness. Its only showing the First Extravagant, and not the Rest. I dont see any issues besides that though.
Thanks. This makes checking up on the specifics of what a plan has really annoying though.

Library carries more standing penalties, so that first point isn't true. And Business is all about runelords taking commissions here. It has nothing to do with the transport of materials, which also doesn't have any risk to the craft and is already a normal thing.
Obviously I meant Shopping, but the danger I mean by that is this makes it supremely obvious just which caravan has the most likely rune related cargo. Right now, every cargo has an equally random chance of carrying rune reagents.

On to Business though. Do you consider this
Requires access for non-Runesmiths

Looking at a thoroughly confused Rudil, you head to your door and find yourself face to face with Elder Gormak's grim visage, two of your Hearth Wardens looking to you for guidance and a few very confused Master Runesmiths.

Waving them off you face Gormak fully.

"How?" he asks, voice quiet, "The King let me take a look at one of them, and to my surprise it is genuine. So tell me, have you actually done it?"

"Aye," you reply with a nod, "I have."

"I can only imagine you're planning to do something maddening with it then," Gormak mutters to himself, "Alright I'm satisfied. I'll be off then."

Watching dumbly as Gormak begins walking away, your mind finally catches up enough to shout out a simple question at him.
He ain't waiting for the next step. They're paying Snerra to make one for them.
"So you have the time to fulfill our request?"

Snerra's Braids bob as she nods at the elderly smith.

"Most certainly! Though If I may ask, why haven't the Metalsmiths gone to Master Snorri?" she curiously asks the aforementioned Guild's representative.

"That was Guildmaster Gormak's preference, but in light of Lord Klausson's injuries, he chose not to put the request forward. As you are his student, and a Runelord yourself, the Guildmaster judges that it is good as he and the Guild are going to get. 'Better to mine the Silver in front of you than ignore it and go looking for Gold that may or may not exist,' and all that. To wait and lose out on several contracts to Varn, especially now that their Runesmiths are finishing their lessons from Lord Klausson, simply would not do," he explains simply.

She nods.

"Well, I can't fault you for that! Let's square away the details quickly then, the faster the Chain Forger gets up and running the better!" Snerra says, beaming.

"In that, we are in agreement. You have the Metalsmiths Guild's most gracious thanks Rhunrikki," the representative utters, bowing as he slides over a stack of parchment.

The next step is just getting rid of MRunes so non masters can make them, so it wouldn't be enough for Gormak to personally make his own anyway as he's not a Runesmith of any sort.

Yeah I meant him, and my bad then, seems I've misunderstood a few things. Yeah I'm not too interested in it right now then, though Akazit might still have a means to open it up to non runesmiths but I don't much care about that compared to our other research options.

I actually sort of do want to continue the chain forger but it's not high on my priority list right now. Curse not having infinite ap.
 
MRune of Kingship for Whitebeards coronation myself even if its a long shot.
I think our guess as to his coronation was 50-55 right? As that's when we're expecting the last of the ancestors to have left? With the work needed for this new workshop I don't think both are possible, especially glimril, but MRune of Kingship might be viable.

Or make a facility large enough to supply enough mail for all the North. When we have to consider that things like making a Chainforger for Kraka Drakk was a write in and stuff, there is no final step.

The point is, I think we (the questors) went into Chainforger with certain expectations, we meet those expectations and then we moved on.

That does bring up the question; are we planning to take any more apprentices, what with Kharstah basically a perma-apprentice?
In my serious voice, I think the threads opinion is generally at the point where people feel the cast is full enough that taking more would detract from the story.
In my not serious voice, I think we should pick up apprentices constantly so that we can solve any problem by application of unpaid interns.

Maybe, but the thing is, I legitimately don't know the Engineers are in a position to actually help. Without annealling and forge flame weakening the wire to be drawn, the two options I see to go the rest of the way are:
A) Have the entire thing operating at a significant fraction of Gromrils melting point, so we'd probably need to upgrade all the parts of the Chainforger to Adamant or something so they aren't weakened in the same way.
B) Steam power levels of force applied (or a titantic Gronti or something) and just accept that you're going to ruin wire dies at an incredible rate.

Both A or solving B with a Gronti, don't actually make the chainforger more widely applicable to non Runesmiths, and the engineering isn't actually there to backup a mundane solution of B. We're basically blocked on that until Engineers get creative.

Could in theory? there is no Akazit theory. theres not even consensus on what Akazit will look like.
Got no idea what to do with this sort of speculation.
 
On an entirely different topic, Snorri seems to have grok'd that the Old Ones language exists from his comparison between the origins of Khazalid and Elven Tongues. Mayhaps the idea of returning to the Anvil of Power comes to him so he can get another look at those odd runes present? With his newfound insight it's possible that he might notice that they could be related to this mystery parent language...
 
I think that given the way previous apprentices have faded away into the rear view mirror as they've grown up and become independent fully fledged runesmiths, it would be nice to pick up some new ones so we can watch their development and get new perspectives on the events of the quest through fresh eyes.

I thought they were one of the more interesting narrative devices in the quest and I'm sorry we've lost them, as it's inevitably narrowed the focus away from what other dwarves are doing.

I'd prefer to recruit a new batch as soon as we've done Azakit, so we can get their perspective on it as ignorant apprentices beyond taught it from scratch.
