On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

There is always the effort to convince the Burudin to not be overtly political if Yorri is right over time.
I feel like this is leaning into the "our Gronti changes the entire slayer cult" plan that's a bit ego based. We're one dwarf, and a new member, and as impressive as snorri is in the relative vacuum we see him in he's not going to be the most impressive one there by far. Then again, I feel like accepting is at least partly based in OOC recognition chasing so I'll admit to being a bit biased.

This really is pretty neck and neck, after reading all of the votes, including the ones that weren't marked properly( @Cheap Orange Knofe, @Ronmr ), its about 85 no vs 80 for yes.

Hey, @soulcake, just how long will this voting last for?

- [X] Find new accommodations: In removing one problem, that being the overcrowding of your home, you have created another. Perhaps it is no concern of yours, but you will do what you can to find a way to house them now that squatting in your home is no longer an option. Unlocks further options.

[x] [Burudin:] No:

Voting no on Burudin even though I have a sneaking suspicion that doing so would be even more of a political statement than accepting. How many dwarves have been asked to join and then rejected the offer? Can't be many.

Still think it's best to heed the warnings of our mentor though.

That's something I'm concerned about too, but I feel like a lot of the older ones would accept it easily due to who our master is.

Fine. Fine. If the idiots are choosing to be cheeky and finagle a way to stay in your home, they're going to at least pay for the privilege! It will require a good deal of work, and cost a pretty penny both in time and effort, but if it's going to be done, then it's going to be done right. Your southern colleagues may grumble and growl, but when have they not? You're over a thousand years old, they can suck on a particularly porous piece of pumice for all you care! Unlocks further options.

Gain title, Member of the Burudin. Options Unlocked. Yorri is too plagued by his mysterious old hurts to see the truth. Accept Alric's offer, and join the Burudin.

- Karstah learns the Master Rune of Lifeleeching.
So I take it we won't get it due to oaths and whatnot? Shame, but that means that lifedrain effects ARE possible.
Not sure where to start researching on it tho. Because that IS an interesting Master Rune.
Might not work on our current Set Combo, but I think we could find something on it. Something like, The Mountains and The Earth Reaps Lives As Much As It Equally Nourishes Them? Goes well with the Destruction/Creation stuff we have.

Join and see how things are then leave if we don't like it or it's too much of a time commitment. We also need more friends and social interaction. Home is feeling less homey and more guildhally. We should build the guildhall right next to our home with a tunnel to it. Also make adding to the defence of the guildhall a part of learning there.

We have a town we can expand more for em and that should honestly work better.

I am going to miss Moira. Good woman did much for the hold from its early days to now. We could make the staff to her name later if that would help. It doesn't seem to be a priority at the moment but I'd be fine with voting for that.

Yes? And are we gonna trade those away? We haven't with grimnirs rune. And I doubt we will do it with the fate rune.
Our repertoire of special runes is small right now and being able to widen it is good. As an example, without a trade we would not have been able to make our cool armor. So getting better runes let's us make better shit.
I'd assume we will for good runes. Though I admit my arguments against the Burundin have very little to do with the runes we may or may not get out of them. No, my issues have to do with what I perceive to be a complete failure on their part to have done anything meaningful to improve Runesmithing in the time period since quest start. Nothing that others aren't already doing at least. Nothing that stands out as "Only the Burundin could have done this for Dawi-kind" or anything of the sort.

Like, Hammerspite, he takes journeymen and teaches them. So do we. Also apprentices, and Master Runesmiths. But where's their Gromril Chainforger equivalent. Where's their rune of Forged Limb equivalent? Its just, we haven't seen much of anything from them to suggest their actually doing their job to push Runecrafting forward. Unless they are keeping said advances to themselves in which case BAH! I say, BAH! That's not how you improve Runecrafting and see it help the Karaz Ankor as a whole.

The combination of embrace and no is asking for schism, IMO all the negative synergy of refusing the company of our more politically minded peers while engaging in radical politics.

Er... you do realize that any improvements would directly cut into the time the GM has to write stuff for the quest. Everyone looks passive next to a quest protagonist.
