I agree that we shouldn't and can't politically. It is technically possible to bring the team back to the Leaf in the same manner that goods can be instantly exchanged(embassy summon can reverse summon person, then summoner brings person with them back with, but I agree we shouldn't. Good points
Living things cannot go into the Seventh Path unless they are a Summoner

[X] Action Plan: An Isan Plan That Hopefully Will Not Break The Timeline
Word Count: 299

Setting: Hazou meets with Keiko and gets updated.
  • About Mari:
    • Tone:
      • Maintain Standard Gouketsu Family SOP as possible.
      • Speak calmly and kindly, use CCnJ as appropriate.
      • Listen to Keiko.
      • We are NOT trying to convince Keiko of anything, just explaining Hazou's thought processes.
    • Ask Keiko why she thinks Mari's never apologized?
      • Mari's a Jonin social-spec, and knows a lot about Keiko.
      • She must know how important an apology (or similar) is.
      • So why hasn't she?
    • Hazou believes Mari's scared of manipulating us.
      • Mari shares your worries about being a broken social-spec. This might be part of the reason she's avoided apologizing; she wants to be sure it's genuine.
      • We won't go into too much detail to avoid violating Mari's confidence, but Hazou believes that Mari acknowledges these issues, and that she's working on them.
    • Hazou repeats he doesn't want to convince Keiko to forgive Mari.
      • Hazou is simply explaining his thought processes.
      • But we'd like to ask what Keiko wants from Mari.
        • An apology? Restitution (what would that look like)?
        • No need to answer, just think on it.
        • Yes, you have been wronged, and seeking some form of restitution is something we want to help you do.
  • [IFF Keiko's up for it] Talk about the plan.
    • Hazou still thinks overthrowing Shusuke is possible with his plan, but agrees with Mari that it was rushed.
      • We wanted to replicate Ami's actions in Leaf/Mist, but failed to incorporate Isan's....Yagura-ness.
      • We should still make Keiko a religious icon/High Priest alternative.
    • Could Keiko clear chakra monsters with Isan's patrols, using that to gain allies?
    • Ask for Yuno to suggest potential allies among those who "won't fit in".
    • Should we ask the Tower for resources/a loan?
  • Send Mari's birthday present: bubble bath seals & a transportable bathtub to use in Isan.

Possible alterations. May want to slash and burn, or change some grammar, since it's... bloated.

  • Offscreen:
    • Asuma:
      • Isan team needs money.
      • Bank run changed our finances.
        • Is a Tower loan/expanded mission budget possible?
    • Ami/Tenten/Shikamaru:
      • Reach out.
      • Keiko's negative self-image has reached a critical point and is endangering her.
        • Interfering w/mission performance in enemy territory.
        • Worse, threatening relationships w/friends, family.
        • Ask them to write Keiko letters.
    • General:
      • Search Jiriya's journals for mentions of Keiko.
      • Make sure hot tub/birthday gifts will reach Mari.
  • Keiko:
    • Heavy CCnJ throughout. Maintain Standard Goketsu Family SOP
      • We love and care about you.
      • Without judgement/condemnation, we believe you've failed to make a critical realization.
    • Objectively, you've tremendously accomplished.
      • You're the Pangolin summoner.
      • You survived being missing-nin, returned to a village.
      • You hold great influence in KEI, Nara, Goketsu.
      • You've kickstarted a movement of acceptance for LGBTQ+ citizens and are actively pursuing it
    • Your continued self-image of mediocrity is incompatible with these accomplishments. Reality cannot be incorrect.
      • It's laughably improbable/logically inconsistent that a mediocre shinobi could accomplish all that, and trick everyone into believing they're outstanding.
      • Present Tenten/Ami/Shikmaru's letters, Jiriya's notes.
    • Acknowledge: Mari has done monstrous things. Her failure to acknowledge her actions/their consequences is reprehensible.
    • Observation: Many of Mari's actions have been rooted in genuine compassion/unconditional love - not manipulations.
      • Risked her life for yours
      • Ensured we grew as people, and not merely unfeeling tools (as Yagura would have desired)
      • [other examples]
    • The realization: people change.
      • None of us are the same since the swamp.
      • You have changed. Mari has changed/is changing.
        • Mari has gone from being the Heartbreaker to who she is now, and is still changing.
      • You do not appear to have updated your conclusions based on new information.
    • To reiterate: Mari had a responsibility to bring this up, and failed.
      • As your Clan head, it's our job to protect both of you, even from each other. As your brother, soul-sworn Teammate in Uplift, fellow foreigner within Leaf, and someone who loves you more than words can know, we'd like to help the two of you mend bridges.
      • Not return to the status quo, but something new and stronger for this resolution
        • Like how we discussed our fears, committed to reaffirming our familial bonds, and have since grown closer because of it.
    • A Question: What do you want?
      • You've said your piece to Mari. You've laid out your hurts/concerns in such a blunt manner that it may constitute cruelty. You didn't seek justice, you sought vengeance, and now we can tell that it's left you marred by its doubled edge. What now: Justice, or Retribution? Healing, or Hurt?
      • You want an apology (you deserve an apology), but what else?
        • Remorse? Mari's soul bleeds guilt and grief.
        • Penance?
          • She's already tried to sacrifice herself for us already.
          • She's already returned to active duty, despite wanting to retire for reasons we both know.
          • Tell Keiko about TLitF (show Jiraiya's notes on the subject)
        • Reform?
          • Keiko, Mari's already grown so far beyond the Heartbreaker that she once was, she's grown so far beyond the person that she was in the Swamp. Even in Leaf, Mari was focused more on growing as a person than sharpening her skills.
      • We Agree: there must be acknowledgement/atonement. What does that look like? What form should Mari's atonement take? Justice or Vengeance?
      • We support you. We love you.
    • Pause. Take a breath. Maintain SOP and CCnJ. Reiterate love, care, support. Answer questions/assess feelings before continuing.
    • Our plans have been of... mixed quality.
      • You're the inheritor of Isan's mythic/cultural authority.
      • We have secured [resources] from Asuma. The clan is at your disposal.
      • What do you think we should do?

[X] Action Plan: An Isan Plan That Hopefully Will Not Break The Timeline

I have some suggested edits to FS's plan that may fit in yours (asking Keiko what she wants, following Goketsu SOP, bringing Jiraiya's notes as proof of Hazou's claims regarding TLitF, etc).

*screaming in Kagome*
Ahhh. So tasty.

@eaglejarl did this happen? If it did, does Hazou know how the Summon Clans reacted? Are the Clans of the other Leaf Summoners sending a liaison to Spider Territory?
Yes, the combat group got together. Hazō hasn't been involved because he can't currently summon and can barely stay awake for three hours at a time.
That doesn't sound right but I can't think why not right this second so I'll assume that's true.

So if for some reason we wanted to bring Noburi or Keiko back, we could.
Nope. Only Summoners can travel to the Seventh Path. Trying to bring living things along always fails, although not in a consistent way. Sometimes the attempt fails, sometimes the critter arrives dead, sometimes it doesn't go along, etc

What about dead bodies or other things that used to be alive? Are dismembered body parts allowed? What about stuff like horns, teeth, claws, fingernails or hair? Just curious

i explained myself poorly, a summoner may enter the seventh path from any point, but they can only return to that designated point until they go back and move. we could get them to the seventh path and back to isan like we had been doing.

[X] Action Plan: An Isan Plan That Hopefully Will Not Break The Timeline

edit:
Thanks for the clarification. Good to know that we can't teleport like this
One thing I want to try is to see if one summoner is carrying another if they can reverse summon both summoners to the same location

So... I kinda got roped into binge-reading the Wandering Inn around Christmas. Five months later I emerge victorious and am ready for new MfD hijinks.

I almost expected to find Hazō in a worst state than he seems to appear atm ;) Good job keeping him alive!

Ami/Tenten:
  • Reach out.
  • Keiko's negative self-image is endangering her.
    • Interfering w/mission performance.
    • Worse, threatening relationships w/friends, family.
    • Ask them to write Keiko letters.
Bear in mind that while we're allowing you to talk to Keiko and come up with a plan's worth of response on the spot, Hazō can't retroactively go back to Leaf and ask people to write letters based on what she's just told him.
This isn't a term I'm familiar with. What do you mean by it?

Yes, the combat group got together. Hazō hasn't been involved because he can't currently summon and can barely stay awake for three hours at a time.
I thought Hazou could summon, since his Minor Consequence has cleared. Also in the update he mentions having talked with Kumokogo about a Dragon threat assessment. Sorry about being pedantic, I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding something.

I only added the SOP and asking Keiko what she wants, but good suggestions overall.
Could you explain this line? It looks like a sentence got cut off half-way.
Bleh, must have gotten cut off. It's meant to have Keiko kill chakra monsters with the locals [Side note: I want to say "local ninja who are assigned to do chakra monster clearing", but have no idea how to shorten that]. Edited.
[X] Action Plan: An Isan Plan That Hopefully Will Not Break The Timeline
Word Count: >300, I'll trim it later

Setting: Hazou meets with Keiko and gets updated.
  • About Mari:
    • Tone:
      • Maintain Standard Gouketsu Family SOP as possible.
      • Speak calmly and kindly, use CCnJ as appropriate.
      • Listen to Keiko.
      • We are NOT trying to convince Keiko of anything, just explaining Hazou's thoughts and reasonings.
    • Ask Keiko why she thinks Mari's never apologized?
      • Mari's a Jonin social-spec, and knows a lot about how to control Keiko.
      • She has to know how important an apology, or something similar, is to Keiko.
      • So why hasn't she?
    • Hazou believes Mari's scared it would just be another manipulation.
      • Hazou recalls Mari's fears about this: she certainly wouldn't want to fake an apology.
      • For an apology to be genuine, Mari would need to feel genuine remorse about what she did.
      • However, there's a problem.
    • Bring up Truth Lost in the Fog.
      • Mari told Hazou some time ago: the price severs her emotional connections to her memories.
      • Additionally, Hazou suspects that since he snapped Mari out of her depression, she's been re-using it to help the Gouketsu.
      • It's highly likely that Mari's emotional connections towards the Swamp, and to apologizing in general, are atrophied.
      • In that context, can she even feel the remorse (or any emotion) needed to make a genuine apology, and not just another manipulation?
    • Hazou repeats that he doesn't want to convince Keiko to forgive Mari.
      • Hazou simply wants to state his own thoughts on why.
      • But we would like to ask what Keiko wants from Mari.
        • Just an apology?
        • Restitution (and what would that look like)?
        • No need to answer me, just think on it.
  • [IFF she's up for it] Talk about the plan.
    • Hazou still thinks overthrowing Shusuke is possible with his plan, but agrees with Mari that it may be too fast.
      • He observes that he wanted to mimic Ami's actions in Leaf/Mist, but may have failed to take into account Leaf's relative weakness and Mist's...Yagura-ness.
    • Perhaps Keiko could clear chakra monsters with the locals, and use that to gain allies?
    • In the meantime, ask for Yuno to suggest potential allies among those who "won't fit in".
  • Give Keiko Mari's birthday present: bubble bath seals & a transportable bathtub for her to try it.
On my phone so details are short, will edit later.

uh how are we actually going to get Jiraiya's seals to the Great Seal? Are we going to have to sacrifice a bunch of 7th Path Denizens every time we want to change them out?
