I...uh...don't think there's going to be people with good stories involving her, or at least those willing to share. Even before she went missing-nin, Mari was the Heartbreaker for more reasons than just her ability to stop hearts (I have a faint recollection of her repeatedly making relationships with people and then suddenly cutting them off when she got bored with them).

We burn a lot of time searching for the stories and get nothing, leaving a gaping hole in our present that we don't have time to fix and Mari will be sad and aieeeeeeeeeeProbably, but I figured it can't hurt to try. Do you think there's actual harm in including it or it's irrelevant either way?

Oh, that is...not what I was imagining. I had thought you would send someone over to Mist and get stories while they got the trade supplies ala the Wakahisa deal.I mean I was figuring Hazou would just write some letters or something, since he would've already known who she associated with. I can remove it if you think it'll waste time though lol

Letters...ignoring the Shikamaru.screaming, I'm not entirely sure that would work, even less so than going in-person.
Wait what? I thought it was said the Wakahisa considered the deal complete, and the only reason we don't have all the shinies is for meta "we haven't defined what they are yet" reasons.
- Recipes of Mist, plus at the start of each month the Gōketsu can send a representative to pick up a bunch of Water Country spices and cooking ingredients. The representative will be met at the docks and not allowed onto Wakahisa grounds without specific one-time permission from the Clan Head. The supplies aren't special and cost only a few thousand ryō in Water Country but are substantially more valuable in Fire. They will be in small enough quantities that it's more a "feed 25-50 people/month a very expensive dinner" than "become ludicrously wealthy". Hazō asked for it only because it gives the Gōketsu an opportunity to be in Mist on a regular basis and therefore provides opportunities for espionage, visiting family, trade, etc.
To be fair, given Noburi's chakara water, the dog summoning scroll, and ghost scales + SC we're still gaining substantial combat ability even if we're letting taijutsu stall.

She was a complete sociopath. Every time she came back from a mission any emotional connection she had to anybody was dead and gone.
Huh, now I wonder if she deliberately built those connections just to be able to use them as fuel for TLiF during the mission.
"BE WELCOME ON THE SEVENTH PATH, CHILD OF MAN," boomed a voice that made the ground beneath Neji's feet tremble. A head the size of a building swivelled to study him from above, and the scale of it nearly brought him to his knees.
You know, the Summoning Trade Network thing practically guarantees Hazou's had at least some interaction with the Turtles.Guys. Guys.
We've got to talk to Neji about how great the dogs are.

Even more important than the question of canine exit:
My girlfriend (a biology major) raised some interesting questions about chakra beasts and the inhabitants of the Seventh Path. Take Kamushafuto for instance - he's a much more normal size, and we know that turtles (RL) age more slowly than people, so for him to be roughly Neji's age is significant. Do the turtles of the Seventh Path share an ancestor with the mundane turtles we'd find on the Human Path?
Specifically: is Kamushafuto a teenage mutant ninja turtle?
