"It's green, isn't it?" Neji said as the full awareness of how doomed he was began to dawn on him.

"WHAT OTHER COLOUR COULD IT BE?"
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

As the turtle names are a bit more Engrishy than the normal Seventh Path puns:

Kamkōda = Camcorder, who records the present.
Kamofuraji = Camouflage, the tailor who works primarily in green.
Kamushafuto = Camshaft, who spins.

Kamehameha should need no explanation.
Also, the flames of youth were originally lit by... kamfaya (campfire)

As to be expected of the summoning clan of punching expert "might guy" :V

• Mari doesn't recommend that Hazō learn basic genjutsu, given his inability to keep up with his basic training priorities: he's already falling behind his peers with his primary combat skill, his deceptive skills without the Iron Nerve are genin-level, and the less said about his stealth, the better.
We should probably take some time to get our taijutsu up to scratch, we have enough Exp that we should be able to top up our foundation skills as is necessary.

For those who didn't see it in Discord, the hot tub bubble bath seal may have to be a novel invention, may or may not have time so just in case...
I'm going ahead and supporting a backup birthday idea, which is to make Mari a scrapbook thing, a collection of everything positive anyone has said about her

[X] Old wounds and new friends
Word Count: 281
  • Misc
    • Spend total required time researching Jacuzzi seals.
    • If Hazou/Mari/Gaku thinks it's relatively trivial compared to Goketsu funds, pay off all clanless civilian debt in Leaf.
    • Start collecting "positive-things-about-Mari-in-writing" from as many people as possible
    • Figure out Gaku's birthday
    • Ami-Style Training
      • Stamina
        • Wear a harness with a rope attached, have Candoru try to tug you in random directions when walking from location to location

  • Akane
    • Explain everything Asuma told you about Mizuki/who he worked for.
      • Prioritize her agency. Express your unconditional love and support for whatever plan of action she desires.
      • That said, anyone who convinces scum like Mizuki to take advantage of kids not even out of the academy deserves a beatdown.
        • If Akane supports it, do everything within legal rights to get information on who Mizuki worked for.
  • Wide River
    • Spend a week mingling with Wide River Pack. Prioritize dogs you met at Taleswap, but try to meet all of them.
      • Challenge dogs to friendly spars! Show them what their summoner can do.
      • Do any of them need anything? Are any of them interested in seeing the Human Path, or working with the Summoner?
        • Friendship/absorbing culture is primary. Don't seem like you're only there to shill for summons.
          • That said, work towards securing contracts.
      • Find a technique hacker, explain Atomu's situation and Cannai's comments on it, will they help?
  • Cannai
    • Explain Salterns to Cannai, volunteer to set some up on the coast so the Dogs can trade salt.
    • Is there more work Hazou can do for the Dogs in the Human Path? The two worlds feel too separate.
    • Are there more troublesome dogs like Candoru that Hazou could help with?

You can't keep bumping up resolve and SC forever, due to the skill pyramid. When those both reach their first local maximum that's the "First detour of FOOM" which is still being debated. Alertness, Taijutsu, Deception (as Hazou's style lets him add deception to Taijutsu), and chakra reserves are all good choices. I'm not entirely sure how far off we are though. You'd have to ask one of the spreadsheet folks
So I just looked at the skill pyramid and rules doc to figure this out.
  • Our skill pyramid is currently (18/8/5/2/1), and no level can have more skills than the previous one.
  • We have Resolve 25 (needs 140 XP to reach 30) and Shadow Clone 23 (needs 189 XP to reach 30). They are in the level of the pyramid which I bolded above.
  • We can raise one of these to level 30 (pyramid: 18/8/4/3/1). The other will be blocked at 29 until we raise at least one weaker skill to level 20.
  • However if we do that (say, by raising Calligraphy to 20) our pyramid would be 18/7/4/4/1 - which allows us to raise one of SC or Resolve to 40. Our pyramid would then be 18/7/4/3/2. This then allows us to keep doing this until it goes from 40 to 50 (leaving us at 18/7/4/3/1/1). Once we raise it to 50, this changes the shape of the pyramid so that we can raise the other skill (which had been left at 30) to 40, leaving us with a pyramid of 18/7/4/2/2/1.
So the way our pyramid is currently, we could be raising SC and resolve almost exclusively for a long, long while...

Just to add, because not everyone might know: Kamehameha the attack was chronologically preceded by (and possibly named after?) the historical kings of Hawaii, Kamehameha I-V.

Probably.

What we need is stunts or tricks to buff Resolve so that we can ignore some pyramid parts or achive desired level's quicker.

Which reminds me:

  • Five non-combat jutsu (Specified in-universe but TBD by the QMs. Valuable but not obviously game changing. Suggestions welcome)
  • Three non-combat seals (Ditto)

We can still get something here, @Velorien , @eaglejarl , @OliWhail did you guys have any idea's from your side ?

I had to put my oatmeal bowl down lest it spill while I giggled uncontrollably xD

Bravo. Bravo

Temperature-regulating seals. Great for Wakahisa koi (whose survival is heavily dependent on maintaining specific temperatures), and great for us.

Good idea.

Also, maybe we can get an anti-Seasickness jutsu to buff resolve? Let's hope.

If Hazou/Mari/Gaku thinks it's relatively trivial compared to Goketsu funds, pay off all clanless civilian debt in Leaf.

Do you mean the clanless ninja or civilians? Because, yeah we can probably pay of a lot of ninja but civilans would involve a lot of businesses.

edit: ok I forgot that there are civilians in clans. Probably still extremly expensive.

He is getting executed, do you want to support her if she wants to save him? We can just get the information and then go from there.

It says civilians, doesn't it? :p
I would be okay with doing both civilian and ninja though.

He is getting executed, do you want to support her if she wants to save him? We can just get the information and then go from there.

Akane's not stupid or suicidal, and she is probably aware that there's not anything they can do. But we can also support whether she wants to attend the execution or not, etc.

Have I mentioned that there is a way to quickly and cheaply give every settlement in Fire 90% effective decoy wall kits which civilians can install themselves and then upgrade to actual walls at their leisure? That seems like something I would mention right after Tsunade said that walls were the most important thing and their greatest value was deterrence rather than actual. In fact, it seems like the sort of thing I would have brought up several times.

Ah yes, the incredible far-reaching wisdom of the late Hyuuga Hiashi is yet again vindicated. I bet Shikaku is giving Hiashi The Look over in the Pure Land.

What are Leaf public executions like?

Hazou was sentenced to decapitation.

I look forward to Neji's inevitable mental break.

Naruto / Batman Villain crossover.

So, that's cool and horrifying. That's half of Goketsu that knows Shadow clones. Well, a third, with the adoptions. Which is what it was before. And definitely a good target goal to maintain.

Isn't one of the adoptees a former ninjutsu focus who lost the use of some of their fingers? Unlike all others, the shadow clone only takes one fairly simple handsign. A ninjutsu expert should have large chakra reserves.

[J] Action plan: investigate the dimensional rift that allowed the turtle's philosophy to spontaneously manifest in our mind while in iron.

Akane learned it from her crush on Rock Lee before her flight.

What even are our current FOOM goals? Are we putting everything into improving SC and Resolve? Are we putting everything (except the Yamanaka XP of course) towards Sealing, or Combat, or a social skill?

For OOC reasons I'm nervous about failing to improve Sealing or combat skills - our QMs would likely get bored of a quest that spends IRL months on "we have big plans but don't trust our current skills to handle them so we delegate everything cool, while spending all our XP on improving SC and Resolve so that when those skills are finally at the top of our pyramid we can invest in other things. It'll be worth it in the long run, honest!"

The possibility of actual war does make improving our combat skills sound very desirable, too.

Oh, they'll think of something. Whether a frustration kaiju-interrupt timer dings probably has more to do with whether the plans are of lengths of 6 days or 6 months.

I am still baffled that these are the only chakra monsters known to be so fastidiously suicidal. At this point I'm tempted to conclude that evolution is being guided by an actively malevolent force instead of simple natural selection.

We can still get something here, @Velorien , @eaglejarl , @OliWhail did you guys have any idea's from your side ?
Random idea now that I'm in the thread:
  • Noncombat jutsu: an Earth jutsu that churns and crushes earth, making it faster and/or cheaper to clear land or exterminate dangerous pests
  • Noncombat seal: a seal that seems to bend space to form a small telescope effect. Unfortunately the size of the effect is sharply limited because it would increase seal design complexity and/or chakra cost, so it's not an amazing telescope. It can't be moved once activated, and destabilises somewhat unpredictably if damaged (generally harming anyone touching it, or releasing a loud blast of air).
  • Noncombat jutsu: a cheap Water jutsu that precisely detects tidal shifts. Used in navigation at sea, but requires training to properly interpret.
  • Noncombat jutsu: a Water jutsu that lets you sink or rise without getting the bends (within limits)
"Glory be to… the Power… of Youth!

"Are you sure," Neji asked, holding onto diplomacy by the skin of his teeth, "that this isn't another of His Majesty's pranks? Because if it is, I have seen through it and we can stop now."

"Are you kidding? This is how we Turtles roll. They say in the old days, Turtles past their seven-hundreds or so would get so bored of living they'd just fall asleep and not bother waking up. When Kamfaya and his Flames of Passion discovered how to be forever youthful on the inside, they saved our entire race!
She said that when she was a child, with her long-term illness, she was the complete opposite of who she is now: gloomy, pessimistic, not having many friends and not really making the effort to engage with the people around her."

"She didn't change," he went on, "until she met Rock Lee and found a purpose. That's when she turned into the Akane we know now—alive, passionate, brave, loving, unfaltering, radiant."
In hindsight, I really should have guessed that this was the entire point of YOUTH as a philosophy. None of that "find your place in the world", "guide thoughts and actions" or even "create unity" stuff I'm used to seeing. YOUTH is a philosophy that aims to bring forth personal happiness! Motivation! Enthusiasm!

Mari is shocked that you would explicitly want her to perform a task non-treasonously. Strictly speaking, as civilians the yakuza might be beneath the Hokage's notice, but on the other hand, there are no circumstances under which Asuma would be happy with an individual clan conducting dealings with a foreign criminal organisation whose first loyalty is firmly to a different village. She can talk to Asuma, with the most likely outcome being that their yakuza connection will be folded into Leaf's spy network (as it would have been under Jiraiya).

Shocked in that we wised up?

Also - can we consider her to be working on this, or do we need to explicitly ask her to do so?
