I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Unless its a Master Rune or Rune I specifically note to only work in one category, assume that you have a variation of any normal Rune for all category types. It's not so much the Rule of Form being looser, its that you know the Runes. Like the Rune of Burning and Rune of Fire are variations of each other for instance.

Combo those runes with a Rune of Fortitude or Rune of Stone. Make it so the Throng can withstand taunting and pissing off whatever they're fighting. Draw all of the aggro and survive it while Otrek manoeuvres behind them. Fully set up the Hammer and Anvil approach.

The Master Rune of Taunting, plus Rune of Impact, plus the weapon rune version of the Rune of Dismay might not make a Runic Combo but it would provide an interesting set of effects I think. Pull them in, demoralize the enemy when the charge happens.

Honestly if we can get them a banner with the speculated shieldwall combo and somehow fit in another banner with triple runes of taunting it would also work. I'm just imagining fighting Greenskins with this setup. I think they'd declare this particular Hold their favourite to fight or something.

Eh, it depends on what is being made and how much we can make. Even then the only time people wanted to make a Gronti entirely out of Adamant is if we used the heart to make it. But again we have to wait and see how the Metal Rune research goes.

Yeah, honestly, between the speculated runic combos weve spitballed here and the defences we've done and probably plan to do more with (when dwarves get gunpowder) I can only imagine this particular hold falling after like a century long siege. Maybe not even then. Or a multipronged assault from in front and below. Even then it'd take a long time.

Hence the greenskins loving it. They'd be fighting for years and years before anything happens.

The Rune of Reflection would spread the light of the other Runes further, it would probably form a combo described as something like "Under the fell light of this banner those facing the dwarfs feel the dreadful gaze of Snorri Gift Giver upon them, breaking even the strongest wills causing bodies to be paralysed with fear and weapons to drop from trembling hands.".

Trolls especially would be affected as it would combo with Trollbane

That is an interesting interpretation of the Rune of Reflection and the Light research tree I hadn't considered before. I'd be interested in studying it to see if playing with metaphysical concepts like that would work tbh. If so the light research tree would be a lot more important than we're thinking.

Interesting thought behind the combo I actually rather like it, though we can't stick two master runes on a thing sadly.

We can't damm, ok replace one of the fear Runes with a rune of fire. The fire would combo with the light rune as fire is a source of light. Have it in the shape of a burning eye to represent the gaze of Sauron Snorri.

Could also use a Rune of Light, but I like the burning eye aesthetic!

Yeah. And the talisman is "at any time" so it doesn't have to be made at the same time as the cloaks and armors.

Thinking about it a rune of taunting would seem like a bad thing to have for area of effects like holds since we may accidentally keep attracting them all the time.

[X] My Work: You cannot deny there is a thrill to being a Runelord, to the crafting to the research to the simple act of teaching. There is always more to learn, to explore and discover and pass on. Every experience, every action is always ripe for opportunities to improve and discover. If you could help it, you'd be learning and exploring until the world itself came undone.

It depends entirely on how the runes work. If they just have a passive taunting aura? Yeah it'll probably draw attacks. If it's enemies looking at an army bearing the banner? They'd be fine. Especially if the banner is rolled up/stored properly, which Snorri would probably tell how to to whoever he gives it too.
 
I think that we might have to turn down at least one commission. Better to not take it then to half ass it.
