On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

-[X] March: Grimnir the Valiant calls, who are you to not answer? Campaign with the Great Throng as it marches through the region. For the next ten years you will walk amongst the greatest examples of your people, partaking in the campaigns. Smiting enemies and perhaps even discussing things with a few dwarfs while you're at it. [Cost: 4 actions] Interlude Turns. These are not battle turns, Interlude Turns will be a series of updates happening over the decade, you get one choice an interlude turn. The number of Interlude turns = your unaltered total actions (which is 5)
--[X] 4 Actions
-[X] [Simple] Torques A Plenty: Elder Brokk has asked you specifically to create a set of Runic Torques, all meant to facilitate proper communication between what is clearly an avian and a dwarf. You remember Master Yorri told you about the time he bargained a few feathers off a Great Eagle. He never told you how, but you remember being taught a few odd runes in your past, just have to figure out which combination worked for Master Yorri. Maybe his book has something? Worst come to worst you could send a letter to the Dwarf. [Cost: 3 Actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc.

[X] Plan To War! To War! With an Order To

Get to see what the angriest dwarf to ever dwarf does when something mildly annoys him. Plus I just want more possible chances for Snorri to maybe interact with peers and superiors in Runecrafting.

Plus there's the fact Grimnir has runes Snorri has no clue about. So I'm hoping a decade seeing the runes in action, as well as staring at Grimnir's personal rune, on the banner, means we get some great insights to come away from.

Marching with an Ancestor God is probably one of the few things a dwarf would respect for delaying an order, even if the delay was a century. They might not be happy about it, but "Sorry, went to war with The Valiant" is a great reason not to get angry. They'd probably be jealous if anything.

Plus, if the plan is to live to the modern WHF timeline being able to reliably say "I went to War with Grimnir" is going to be one hell of an accomplishment.

Brokk might actually go with Grimnir so... ya know.

(Roll, Assessment: 47 +5[Gift Giver] +5[Greed Slayer] +5[Earth Mover] +5[Defence. In. Depth.] +5[Trollslayer] =72)

I'm curious as to why we got a bonus to Grimnir's assessment roll for Defence. In. Depth. All of the other bonuses were because of our Legendary Deeds or Trollslayer, a Legendary weapon. I was thinking that the Defense bonus might be a result of this roll.
(Roll, Grimnir Looks at your Defences: 62 +20[A Honed Mind] =82. DC 70, 80, 90)

You know, something I was wondering for a bit...

I wonder if, in canon, what happened was that Grimnir and the Great Throng were caught out of position when the Daemons flooded and assaulted every throwing. That is, if they were campaigning in Norsca... where the Underway didn't reach. And so... Well. A lot of the Throng was lost. Because they couldn't retreat back to a Karak. Or alternatively, the Throng wasn't lost. But instead they were hugely delayed in getting back to the Karaz Ankor, because there was no Underway path to take.

That, plus, being unable to reach the place where the future Dawi Zharr were.

And that that was part of what made Grimnir decide to shave his head and go north!

Not just because of an attempt to stem the Daemons at their source. But also because of something happening to the Throng, plus being unable to reach some of the Karaks -- like the Norscan ones, and the ones in the Darklands.

So. Well. Things are a bit different this time around, aren't they? The Throng has a tunnel back to the rest of the Karaz Ankor...

From the wiki at least, the Great Throng actually won a respite for the Old World, however brief, and was actually in the process of being disbanded when the Second Incursion hit. The big thing was that the Second Chaos Incursion had the Daemons appearing in much larger numbers. Nothing about the Throng being cut off.

IIRC, the wiki also notes that the only Dwarfs from the rest of the Karaz Ankor to reach the North before the (I believe Second) Chaos Incursion hit them were messengers from Grungni, warning them to hunker down and brace themselves for something worse to come.

In which incursion the Dwarf fought alongside the Elves? I remember one story where Malekith was fighting alongside a Dwarf King

The Dwarfs fought alongside the Elves in the First Chaos Incursion. Specifically, Grimnir meeting Caledor Dragontamer. Caledor's fleet had been searching for the source of the Chaos magic, was blown off-course, and encountered Grimnir's Great Throng. Things were tense for a while until some Beastmen showed up, and the two quickly realized they had the same enemy.

Malekith didn't start doing stuff until the Chaos Incursions were over, fighting alongside Snorri Whitebeard to purge the remaining Daemons from the Old World.

Here:
404 (-4119) -- Bereft of their Ancestor Gods for the first time, the Dwarfs name Snorri Whitebeard as their High King. Joining forces with Malekith of the Elves, Snorri leads the Dwarfs as they hunt down and destroy the last Chaos armies that threaten the Old World. Afterwards, trade flourishes with the Elves, and the Dwarfs, growing ever richer, found many new strongholds.

For a banner with Grungni on it at some point, like that Banner Eva suggested. Otherwise the same.
What made you "change your mind"? The lack of expediency for the immediate campaign allowing for experimentation?

More like we can't make a Banner in time at all, especially with the enthusiasm for Marching right now, so might as well set up for experimentation after we come back home. Poke your Matrimonial Displeasure combo and see what happens is a good project while poking other stuff like the Griffon work and Research like Silverwood can be done before it if we really want to. It'd be easy too. Grab that research, take part one of the request, slap your Rune set on and do part 2 of a Higher Standard the following turn.
