On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I wonder will Dolgi get jealous at how out matched he is iby two of his fellow apprentices, and girls at that. You have to assume Dwarf culture is pretty patriarchal .
[X] Yes: You will take her, devoting the effort necessary to train this young prodigy into a proper runesmith. [Cost: Lock 1 action for minimum 6 turns] [Gain: Snerra Magnasdottir, 18-year-old Prodigy would-be Runesmith]

Only because a lot more male dwarves are born, so they take a lot more of the roles. Runesmiths and other crafts are only male dominated by proportion that we've seen though. They seem to lean a bit towards bossy woman types.

[X] Yes: You will take her, and have your older apprentices play a part in her learning, under your watchful eye of course. I don't think we've really seen evidence of dwarf society being patriarchal, given how different dwarf psychology is I think it would be a mistake to project human terms onto them.

Snorri can take him aside and tell him that he has the same amount of talent he did when he was younger and that hardwork will see him get even better.

hey @soulcake I an idea and a question
1) for the idea I call it the skyhold basically its a massive citadel/castle like complex build on the very peak of the mountain meant to act as an ani-air defense center meant to discourage anyone or anything capable of flying over the defenses from trying also it would defend the hold from various airborne threats that could assail it like harpies, manticores, wyverns, emperor dragons , greater demons and formations of dragon riding elves
2)for the question now that a lot of rune smiths masters ,journeyman and runelord alike are starting to set up in the hold will there be a new guild of rune smiths set up in the hold ?
2a) if so will there be action category like guild actions or guild projects were actions will be about leading and organizing the guild and were the projects will be things that need multiple runes smiths working together to accomplish ?

I really like the idea of involving our apprentices in training another apprentice in order to hopefully teach them to teach. The biggest possible contribution we could make to the dwarves as a whole would be changing runesmith culture to take more apprentices.

I just noticed the "no pocket troll tongue" tag. Who is bullying the pocket troll tongue faction?! We may be small (ie, only me), but we are passionate (when we're not doing something else) and our love is real (if doomed)!

I don't think this will happen given that it's the golden age, the dwarfs are building an underground highway and connectivity has never been higher.
It might however happen if the northern holds lose contact with the southern holds, which would be a very bad thing

No half measures. There is no such thing as good enough for a Master. Only good or not good.

I'm worried about the mechanics here. Trading 2 apprentice actions for 1 normal action is very advantageous to us. Since apprentice actions are so limited it's a big gain for our action economy. Meanwhile sacrificing another of our normal actions is a far bigger commitment on our part. I think this choice presents a greater effort into Snerra's education, which is very important given we'll be juggling 3 apprentices together, prodigy or not.

Also, with this choice Snerra is still going to interact with and learn from Fjolla and Dolgi, but we're greatly lowering the risk of resentment by not rubbing their faces in the super prodigy constantly by making them teach her. I think this is the best choice overall.

Neither option is a half measure. This has been clarified. The question is whether we work on group training or individual training. The difference is what kind of traits the apprentices will learn and what kind of precedents we're setting about mass training

If they don't meet standards, they don't graduate, period.
