Does anyone have reasons that this would not be the case? Because as best I can tell, that means that stepdown would be strictly inferior.Furthermore, exchanging the currency will likely require us moving with the client or leaving them with less guards, which... amounts to the same risk as trading spices, but for less money.
We only need to exchange the currency if Mist isn't going to accept non-mist ryo (in which case we would want to exchange the currency at some point any way). Step down also doesn't include the risky rule twisting of the pepper plan and will have us spend less time in danger overall.Does anyone have reasons that this would not be the case? I trust Keiko's interpretation of the rules more than our own; if she thinks it's not workable, she'll speak up. So while I understand why you'd think that it increases danger, I don't.We only need to exchange the currency if Mist isn't going to accept non-mist ryo (in which case we would want to exchange the currency at some point any way). @Exmorri
Can you add an aside for apologizing to Keiko about the homosexuality claim? It doesn't have to be a scene in the update but it's a sore spot for her.
[X] Action Plan: Stepdown
-Try to avoid talking to the proctor any more outside of event necessity. We've been out-socialed and attempting damage control on our own now will probably make things worse.
-Check with proctor whether we need to convert currency to Mist ryo for our scoring, and if so, do that.
-Check with proctor whether finishing now and going to the barracks will count as an early completion as opposed to a disqualification, meaning we will get our points and other teams are not allowed to attack us. If so, do that.
-If gone to barracks: Check with proctor whether we are now immune to further point changes for this event. If so, propose summoning pangolins to go disrupt other teams.
Someone more experienced is still welcome to put in a Stepdown v2 with further additions such as time/xp expenditures for training while potentially confined to barracks, and I would vote to support that too.[X] Action Plan: Stepdown

-Apologize to Keiko when Hazou gets the chance.

- At stops, place Air Domes around the palanquin, with Pandaa to guard it from inside (give him a handsign ahead of time that we'll use to let him know it's us).
- Double check the palanquin drivers for henge via Vampiric Dew (check their chakra levels, don't drain them), question them on if anyone approached them the night before, etc.
No, they are not. They are in Snow.[X] Action Plan: Stepdown
About selling ice to Mist....isn't the Yuki clan also in Mist? I don't think ice is going to be valuable.
Once they'd manage to drag Chouji away from a budding argument with Amatetsu about whether mint sauce or garlic was the superior yam condiment, Keiko took a turn leading the group around some of the clan compounds that were close enough as to not require too much running. Houzuki, Yuki, Terumi, Kurosawa… Hazou looked at his mother's childhood home with disdain, resolving to make sure the clan elders that had caused his family so much strife would soon learn exactly how much they'd lost when they had chosen to try and look respectable over choosing to support their own blood.
"So you're saying you chose to join Mist's worst enemy entirely on your own initiative? Instead of, say, offering this mysterious bargaining chip to Mist in exchange for amnesty? Or at least choosing a village that wasn't out to kill everyone you knew back home?"
Deliberate. This was going to be addressed in one of the Zabuza interludes, but didn't end up going in.
The fact that summoners can be reverse summoned is not a secret, so that Keiko can go to Pangolin-land isn't secret.
The plan makes for selling gold for mist ryo. This takes moving around the city just as well as selling spices would, only we get 0 effective profit margins on it. Furthermore, spices are a much lighter good than gold is, and we could offer a big restaraunt a monopoly on the spices in exchange for a high price, meaning we could sell the spices quickly.
It assumes that Granny Karina is actually being truthful. She has every incentive to lie to use to get us DQed given that she just stated that she "has our measure". It is hopelessly optimistic to believe her.
Keiko is vulnerable when by herself, too. Losing her armband means the team gets taken down to -50, the team's moved to the holding area.It doesn't. It calls for exchange, which is something that Keiko can do alone while Karina waits in her room with Hazou and Noburi. Spice trading, on the other hand, requires her to move about the city, since it needs to be her who actually makes the trades. The risks aren't comparable.

THen is there a reason we couldn't send Keiko off to do negotiations for the spice trade herself, then? Maybe involve Panjandrum in it?That risk is honestly so minuscule I barely register it compared to everything else. The enemy would have to find her first, and she can easily wear a Henge with the bandana on top. Then they'd have to catch her, in the middle of a crowded city, with the collateral rules in place, while she doesn't even want to engage, and without putting their own client at risk.
Only thing I'd add is inviting Granny to treat us to an after exam dinner in celebration of her windfall.
