Yes but eew.

Like, I don't think we're that desperate yet. And to be honest, it's going to be a good while until the campaign presses on anyway after this, as just holding what we've already seized is going to be a full time job until reinforcements arrive.

It's much easier to hold what we've seized if all the opposition is scared of their own shadow with their leaders dead and their logistics on fire. It's worth getting a bit filthy. Mathilde is a soldier as well as a wizard. She knows that war is literally a filthy business. She'll have been covered in the blood, shit and bile of dying enemies plenty of times.

We could talk with journeyfanling about that smell problem. She is supposedly good with general alchemy, even if it's a bit off her speciality.

Or the dwarves. They have reasonably decent chemical knowledge, so may have a synthetic scent suppressing option.

I firmly agree. Stirland is home for Mathilde, no matter how much everyone wants her to uh... [checks thread] heist Bretonnia?
I want what Mathilde wants, is what I mean. Everything we do should flow naturally from Mathilde's character and motivations. and right now, no matter what items of power she's accumulated, Mathilde is still just a Grey Magister from Wurtbad. Kelham can rot
She didn't come here seeking riches, or power, she came seeking purpose. and perhaps, with both the expedition, and proof of her dedication to Ranald, she has found two.
This seems a bit too far in the other direction though. What ties does she have to Stirland right now? What makes her look across it's expanse and go, 'this is where I belong'- because in part of why she left was because she was looking for a purpose and felt like she didn't belong. She was cut out from her real passion projects, her friends all had their own priorities, and there flat out isn't a lot that Mathilde can do in Stirland she can't do anywhere else now.

I'm not saying she doesn't consider it home, but home is where the heart is so the saying goes... and what in Stirland can anyone of us really name that would lead her heart back there? I hate all the talk of going back to Stirland because it either devolves into go back+????= Profit and our job back, or go back+ research in a basement for a few years= profit.... why did we do this in Stirland again?

You can't talk a good game about Stirland being home and ignore the fact we were pushed out there for nothing more than who we are, or that Belegar- knowing who we are and the full consequences of associating with us (or at least 95% the consequences of associating with us) unconditionally offered his home as our home. Not until he dies, not until politics or personal biases get in the way- but until nothing less the fall of K8P come again. That's evocative and powerful, and ignoring it completely in favor of 'Oh fair Stirland' is negative character growth.

[X] Keep to the original plan. Find the invasion force and join them as they fight their way through Karag Nar.

Take it easy, but still help secure a fallback position. Mathilde's still pretty deadly with her items.

Personally, Belegar's offer was enough for me to want to set up Mathilde a permanent home in Karak Eight Peaks. We'd probably only initially have her stay there a few years to help him secure his kingdom before going off adventuring, but it's where we'd have her return to between adventures or periods of study at the College. She should be fully capable of contributing a consistent stream of research to the College every time she returns to keep in their good graces.

Work with Panoramia to literally develop rat perfume?

Perfume is literally a mist. As are many scents including animal musks, actually, so influencing perception of scents should fall squarely within Ulgu's gambit on two counts, both the physical and the thematic. This is a problem that it seems likely that the Grey Wizards have addressed before, and may have a solution to. AN appropriately cyphered message may get us access to a relevant spell.

Alright time for a hypothetical thought experiment. I in no way endorse this or see this as being useful unless things get FUBAR already. @BoneyM, using the Deceiver side of the Coin, would a prayer potentially qualify as long as it was made in bad faith? Could Mathilde theoretically pray to the Gods of Chaos, convince them utterly of the sincerity of her worship while meaning absolutely none of it?

If you have no patience for this sort of thought experiment since it's never liable to be relevant outside of us somehow falling to Chaos, that's fine. But I'm morbidly curious if we could apply the god of deception's boon against everyone's least favorite idiot gods.

It paid off the first time, but I wouldn't recommend making a habit of getting Ranald into fights with evil gods.

Yeah, but I feel a simpler approach would be having Panoramia brew some potions that make Mathilde's sweat smell of skaven pheromones.

Lowkey, and simple enough as ones's scent naturally changes with what you eat anyway, IIRC.

6... would have been "good" for us, not so much our patron.
and the problems of 6 speak for themselves.
I still don't understand what either of you mean here. How would the involvement of Slaanesh (if that's even what's implied here) be either good or "good"? And what speaks for itself, in what way?
The Chaos Dwarfs, I think, on consideration should be a piece of information we relay to the Grey College to determine how we want to probe about this. Its a very touchy subject for dwarfs after all.
Could we tell Belegar that Black Orcs are a race created by non-Orcs without mentioning our knowledge regarding their actual creators?
What's a riot quest?
Now that she has seen weird, evil dwarf sorcerers, what does she think she saw?
It's not a Memetic Hazard as you say, but can you 100% say that we will never, ever, use it in a pinch once we know it?
Some things are too dangerous to have for the temptation of using it, and that's why folk doesn't even want to open the book.
What's the chance that a "do necromancy" vote would win in your opinion?
(triggered by accidentally leaving the wrong facet while destroying a doombell).
I don't understand this reference. Could you elaborate on the lore behind it?
Ind, Cathay and Nippon are right out.
There's some very interesting fan-made army books regarding at least two of those three. Would you be interested in seeing them? I'd have to dig up the links again though.
It works only during normal turns. During those turns you'd choose what face you would be using as part of your plan for the turn.
What happens if we don't get "normal turns for over six in-game months?
What happens if we equip one of the constant passive bonus coin faces in a normal turn and then switch back to updates covering smaller time frames?
How does the process of selecting a face and the once every six months limitation that goes with it look and feel like for Mathilde in universe?

Having enough power to rival Slaanesh is good. Getting Slaanesh's attention is bad.

She thinks she saw weird, evil dwarf sorcerers.

No, but thank you.

What happens if we don't get "normal turns for over six in-game months?

If we get to that point, I'll handle it then. Considering the last three in-game months have taken three IRL months even if you skip the hiatus, it's not an immediate concern.

What happens if we equip one of the constant passive bonus coin faces in a normal turn and then switch back to updates covering smaller time frames?

I'll determine what happens based on the circumstances.

How does the process of selecting a face and the once every six months limitation that goes with it look and feel like for Mathilde in universe?

It feels like a Quest mechanic. Please stop poking at it.

Let's put it like this, Stirland is where vast majority of her friends live, it is where she grew into the person she is now, it is where she was the second most powerful person in the region for at least a couple of years, it is where her material holdings are and oh yes, to top it off, she is a Dame of Stirland, whose duty is to aid Stirland.

Lots of ties that bind.

Speaking of plot hooks - someone brought up Bretonnia, and if anyplace is ripe for a people's revolution to overthrow the corrupt nobility, surely it's there.

We could go spread some Ranaldism to a large and captive audience, yoink some new and interesting lore, do some spying on the Empire's rival state...

What could possibly go wrong? :V

... He'd probably take every bet, because that's just his nature, right? No matter if he is trying to dice with the Big Mollusk himself.
I'm pretty sure Ranald only takes bets that are either amusing to him, rigged in his favor, or have relatively decent odds to lead to a massive payoff.
Not to mention that if he wanted, he could invite/visit any of the chaos gods at any time. But he doesn't. Because he likes his current form of existence and isn't a complete moron.

Orcs, undead, Norscans, Chaos or Skaven?

Maybe even Wood Elves if we're lucky, who knows! Bretonnia is exciting.

The potions would almost certainly require an ingredient from the rats themselves, and at that point you might as well cut out the middle man. Should only take a few autopsies to figure out where the musk is stored.

A hell of a lot.

The Lady likes Bretonnia exactly as it is, and she is a very interventionist goddess with a champion who probably qualifies as the most deadly motherfucker outside Abhorash in the setting.

That champion can be spawned literally right on top of you if she's salty enough.

That's more than any other single individual in the campaign could or probably ever will be able to brag about
Oh damn that's a really pertinent point. Can we brag about this? I mean, to explain how awesome we just were we have to reveal that we're a Ranald worshipper, and that's a no-no. Someone tell me there's a way we can get massive dwarf cred for shifting a bunch of power out of Mork and starting an ork civil war in K8P without outing ourselves.

Probably not, no.

The limit of what we can claim is "We caught the warboss and a bunch of other high ranking Black Orcs doing a ritual in that weird temple, I killed them all and then managed to disarm the wild energy before it could blow half the mountain up. I am very tired and would like a bit of a lie down before we get started again but at least the warboss and his staff are dead now"
