Is this a case of it being before mathilde had any power stone books or personal knowledge and so said the wrong thing? Cause i'm at least mostly sure that the DL canon as of now is that no powerstone 'emits' ulgu, instead its about making the area around it more conducive to its wind?a failed power stone that only attracts instead of emitting Ulgu
With hopes that *this* time imgur and SV will cooperate and work as a link right away:"Being a feral monster is a bad survival strategy," Esbern says with a nod.
To expand a little, the inspiration forThat's the first appearance and origin of her name, however the genesis of the joke was in the preceding post here.
The kernel of the idea being that these were books I enjoyed imagining a devoted romance aficionado could be relishing in private, while (wilfully?) oblivious to the glaring parallels.
And it tickled me to imagine that this book-spill encounter with Markus might have occurred shortly beforehand."Your Grace!" Markus cries, "there's been an attack on-" Then he trails off, looking from you, standing there in your underwear with a greatsword strapped to your back, then to Van Hal, standing next to you with his rifle cradled in his arms. The moment stretches out for an eternity, and you feel heat rising to your cheeks.
Markus already had an armful, but paused at this as he picked up another, taking a look at one for the first time. The Witch and her Hunter 3: Trials By Night. The cover had a rough print of a tall man in a tall hat with a very long rifle looking at a young woman who had raised her arms theatrically, as if to cast a spell. Or embrace him.
I think what it means by this is that you can't consume the stone normally - and without being doing so or putting it in an enchantment, it can't affect reality. Is this a case of it being before mathilde had any power stone books or personal knowledge and so said the wrong thing? What do you guys think, thoughts on spells we could include, maybe some Windherding?
Mathilde didn't actually talk about other organisations in that conversation. She said some don't use it, some join priesthoods, and those left over, (being about 1/3rd) joined the Colleges. And frankly I take Mathidle actually being correct on those numbers with a great deal of suspicion, because the Empire is just not going to be able to track the population anywhere near closely enough for it. I mean, we can barely keep an accurate track of very roughly how many people live in various countries today, and we have far more powerful and sophisticated tools to do so.When the proportion of potential magic weilders in the population was being explained, one of the numbers is that they think 1/3 goes to the priesthood, 1/3 to the colleges, and 1/3 for everything else. So unless they are very wrong on that they are definitely smaller in numbers.
To add to this: it is proposed in the write-in that the ship's base be shrouded in fog and I've joked a few times that, from the ground, it may be dismissed as a small cloud as a result. Perhaps Take No Heed, in combination with such camouflage, might actually allow the ship to make such dismissal reliable!About Windherding, between limited options and an abundance of room I don't think we are skilled enought to take advantage of packing multiple spells in single item, but since I believe we got the trait from mutiwind infrastructure in the first place, we probably can get the ship extra packed if we are willing to manage the construction.
Now for spells that I think could be good :
Shimmering Cloak, Wind Blast and Leaf Fall: Most things a ship has to worry about are ranged attacks, so specialized defenses agaisnt that would be some of most effective we could add.
The Beast Broken: I believe most melee attacks would come from monsters, so this would complement the fist option, also would help colectiong exotic animals that we meet in our journey. I will admit is somewhat of a dubious choice since the limits are a bit nebulous and scaling to ship size would complicate that but still soemthing to consider.
Fat of the Land: We are planning to use this ship to go on long voyages, we have personla experience that having a way to strech supplies can make a difference if you get there at all in the first place.
Clear Sky: Some degree of weather control would be realy nice when we inevitably end in a terrible storm.
Silver Arrows of Arha: Mostly because I would like to see if we can upscale Max Mastery, seens ideal for mounted weapons.
Mathilde's MAP: We never made that Map room for Belegar, and I would love to have one on our ship.
Burning Shadows: It is our ship, we almost have to, and we know how cost effective it is.
Enchant Item: Honestly having a hard time thinking why not to slap this on everything we can.
Knightbringer: Not realy because the spell as is would be useless, but some battle altar that generates a dispossable army on demand would be epic.
The Speed of Light and Birona's Timewarp : Mostly as a Turbo mode affecting the ship, for when we realy gotta go fast.
The Purple Sun of Xereus: If we fell we realy need a high level fuck everything in that general direction option, this one seen to have the least colateral, wich
So given that we are almost certainly going to have an airship (while there may be 17 more votes out there, it's unlikely that all 17 of them will be pure armor votes) what do you guys want to put on the boat magic wise? Some thoughts:
What do you guys think, thoughts on spells we could include, maybe some Windherding?
- Light of Hysh: This will be good if the crew comes down with exotic Lustrian illnesses and it has the added benefit that we can retire the candle since we will still have a fallback to fix any plagues we come into contact while going on missions
- Take No Heed: Making the whole ship invisible is probably too hard, but if we can say conjure a cloud on its underside we might be able to convince any onlookers that that is a regular cloud right up until it starts...
- Icy Grip of Death: This is a good anti-flyer weapon since it is an AOE stun, being stunned in the air is a great way to succumb to the siren call of gravity
- Fireball: This is just pure damage, you can aim it at the ground you can aim it at the air, most things do not like to be set on fire
I am not sure why we couldn't just make the ship invisible, that is a single tier of complecity above take no heed, it only took half a dozen powerstones to move the sun after all. But now I wonder if we could add our Cloud of confusion mastery to that fog, maybe would even count as windherding practice. To add to this: it is proposed in the write-in that the ship's base be shrouded in fog and I've joked a few times that, from the ground, it may be dismissed as a small cloud as a result. Mostly I was concerned about that complexity increase in combination with the fact that Shroud of Invisibility is several times shorter than Take No Heed - but if it can still be made to work economically, fair enough!I am not sure why we couldn't just make the ship invisible, that is a single tier of complecity above take no heed, it only took half a dozen powerstones to move the sun after all. I was hoping to recruit Bretonia using the father. Really get everything down before going to possible death.People are going to refuse to go to Ulthuan this turn because the skyship isn't finished, aren't they?
I don't think taking the skyship to Ulthuan would work anyway, because I'm pretty sure Mathilde's three-month tourist visa was only meant to cover herself, not an entire ship's worth of wizards as tagalongs.People are going to refuse to go to Ulthuan this turn because the skyship isn't finished, aren't they?

I might choose to delay the Elfcation if the Nordland Hedgewise situation is urgent or could benefit from immediate action, but I won't choose to delay it for the airship. Boney hinted that there was some news about their legality coming during this social turn. We don't know yet whether it's good news or bad news.
Though it does mean we have at least an idea on the subject of our external Social this turn, even if who it's with is still up in the air (Aksel seems obvious, but it could easily be Kurtis Krammovitch, or an Empire official seeking guidance on the Cult of Haletha, even the Elector-Count of Nordland.Boney hinted that there was some news about their legality coming during this social turn. Doing a bit of rereading, and then failed at finding the i'm-almost-certain-to-have-happened previous time this was asked, but:

Everyone knows the lore was this exact thing.(I can't remember if the exact way that power stones work was developed at this point, but the elegance of a limited perspective is that a lot of the time it doesn't actually matter - the lore always being there or the lore only existing thirty seconds before Mathilde learns about it usually amount to the same.)
