On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

It work with his big ass runic library. He understands runes more like a language than snorri that see it as manifested concepts.
On the more serious note that is actually both fitting and seriously impresive. I love the idea.
If Snorri develops Alchemy enough that it splits into its own guild offshoot of the Runesmiths guild I can imagine Vragni doing something similar with his thing.

Cue elder Runelords grumbling about the new guilds snapping up beard and plaitlings with Runesmithing ability.

Obviously the runesmiths get them first. But after the finally get their masters aproval to become a master themselves. Then they have to choice which school they want to go to, Snorri's, Vragni's or just stay with thungi's. :p

or it becomes a sub profession for runesmiths to learn, like a side hustle. learn runesmithing, then decide if you want to learn alchemy, which might become a requirement for anyone wanting to forge/make their own T5 materials instead of ordering it from other runesmiths/lords

Honestly I would love the idea of Vragni being a constant presence because he's so damned obsessed with Snorri he refuses to die.

Gazul has his mighty, meaty grip upon both of Vragni's ankles and this stubborn dawi is like "#### OFF GRANDPA I HAVE TO STALK THE GIFT-GIVER"
Vragni Finally die not from combat but because Snorri told him that he actually glad to have him around as someone else from the old days.

The archetypal myth of sibling rival gods, found in many cultures around the world, manifested itself in Norsca in a typically Dawi fashion. Confronted with the question of innovation versus tradition in runesmithing, these competing schools of thought were eventually combined with more primitive legends to form the supposed rival paradigms of Norscan tradition, Vragni Svaltisson, and Norscan innovation, Snorri Klausson. The major runic guilds of the North claim that these figures and others had founded their institutions, but no evidence exists that these figures were even real Dawi, let alone that they had such influence as to single-handedly establish guild traditions. It is far more likely that the guilds evolved out of more primitive clan organizations and then retroactively crafted mythologies to enhance their prestige in ancestor-obsessed Dawi society.

Extrasensory research resulted in the creation of an eye that would let us see the Winds. When looking at the research actions from the past turns, Akazit Pt. 2 implies that with the creation of the eye it will be easier. However, this didn't change our progress for that research total in any way. Is this because we are already so far along Akazit that our research for Extra Sensory didn't make sense to carry over? Would it completing Extra Sensory Pt.2 be what gives the extra research? Or is there some other reason that is not apparent to Snorri yet?

I'm not saying this to sound ungrateful for this turn's progress. This was a hell of an update! I'm just curious since Akazit and Extra Sensory are closely tied together with The Rune Metal pt. 7 and Snorri breaking the Consternation is a huge deal.

its because of spoilers. You'll see come part 2!

I feel like now's a good time to follow up on a post I made a while ago, to properly flex and hype our achievement.

Issue a challenge to the Burudin: find a better solution to Durin's consternation.

Rune Of Thungni's Flame: A prismatic fire surrounds the weapon, one that bears a hatred for magic and shoddy work in equal measure. Casters, when struck, have the knowledge of the last spell they cast burned out of their mind, while work not to par is damaged.

One of the Runes on Grunni Thungnisson's masterwork, Zharrgor, The Great Bull of Fire, more specifically its left horn.

#Offensive, #Elemental, #Constant, #Curse

Master Rune of Dark Power/Grunni Thungnisson: A variant on the Master Rune of Animation, as usual animating Gronti; however, they seem to draw on a different source of power, coming to a more potent life near sources of dark and particularly Chaotic magic, seeming empowered by them, a facet that raises a number of questions.

The Master Rune of Grunni Thungnisson, one of the children of Thungni. An expert in Chaos esoterica and a master of the construction of Gronti, though his creations always tended towards the macabre: The troll shaped Aldurki, the spidery Drengak, and the chimeric Dari, tasteless by some measures, always only half-a-step from being censured by the guild (ironically in spite of his own deeply conservative tendencies as a Runesmith). He "recently" disappeared into the East, and his siblings will not speak of his whereabouts or if he still lives, leaving only dark rumors.

#Constant, #Construct, #Solo, #Physical, #Magic, #Odd, ???

Rune of Dominance: A simple rune, magical energy is burned in creating a magical fire around the armor of the bearer, one that can destroy shoddy work even as it also breaks apart spells.

#Constant, #defensive, #magic, #elemental

A Rune emulating the protection laid on Grunni's Journeyman piece, a suit of armor that allowed him to walk through magic nearly unscathed.

Could some one explain to me (and those of us who haven't the greatest of memories) again what's the difference between our old wind sight and this new wind sight? How exactly does it give a break through to the durin's consternation ?

[ONLY PROSTHETIC VARIANT LEARNED][INCOMPLETE]

Incomplete how? How is it that we could make the rune for prosthetics but not elsewhere?

old windsight could see colours in place of winds. but they weren't clear. they were like taking a highlighter to a black and white picture with a shaking hand.

new one is like a professional and renowned artist lovingly coloured in the picture with near perfect clarity. even including several colours you didn;t realise were individual colours. which further added definition you had no way to know was missing.

they even went over the proper shading for each individual part again to ensure nothing was lost in detail from adding colour.

effectively, our old eye had severe cataracts. our new one doesn't.

still better than being blind, going from no vision to some vision is still a massive improvement. but now we have twenty-twenty in that eye. the difference will be stark.

Basically to reach Ancestor god Tier requires that we fundamentally change the way that Dwarven Society functions. In our case... if we keep pushing... if we actually succeed...

We would be the Ancestor god of Generosity.

We would change how Dwarves view debts, charity, etc. My best guess, one of the ways that we can do this is by putting Dwarf Society so deep into our debt that they never can dig their way out from under it. Then while this state of being is in place... changing how this effects their psyche. So rather then being a weight that is pressing down on their shoulders subtly... it becomes an inspiration for them instead.

Basically rather then a negative that they use as a to drive them onwards it still fundamentally drives them forward but now rather it is because they aspire to follow his example. Perhaps viewing it as a the ideal way to live. I don't really now how we would go about this but this is what I got right now.
So basically, inspire the Dwarves to follow the virtue of "Pay it Forward"?

So when the Runelord does occasionally provide them that chance, and offers a request that the average Kraka Drakk Dawi can fulfill they quietly and stoically scramble at the opportunity.

After all, its the chance to repay uncounted centuries of owed debts, passed down from parent to child, and more than likely grown since, in an unbroken chain since the Hold's founding. Their holders are all too happy to relieve the weight of such a burden upon their psyches.

They don't quite weep, nor do they cheer, but several hundred Dwarfs will certainly walk with lighter steps in the coming years even as they scramble, negotiate, toil and work to meet the Legendary Gift Giver's demands.

Snorri is a damn menace to Dwarven debt repaying and I love it.

"In honour of Lost Durin, Ancestor and Firstborn of Lord Thungni. Strike the Gromril thus..."

Praise to the Ancestor Gods that we might see beyond the wall that has held all of the Dawi back.
