On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

@soulcake

Clarify on this? I'd take the combo if its more action efficient to.
Bungie is correct If im reading their response correctly. The combo would be 1 action for pt 1 then a minimum 2 for pt.2 to complete, disregarding overflow. Of course you can't input the same number of actions as you did Trollslayer and expect equal tier items, if only because that overflow is spread over three items total. Well that and the material, depending on how you want it.

EDIT: wrote can, meant to write can't

[X] Accept: Take on [Difficult] Dowry Pt. 1: The King of Ungor wants two cloaks? By Grungni you'll give him two cloaks! Damn finest cloaks anyone will ever see! Must be completed in four turns starting Turn 15.
- [X] Accept Amulet, Combo: Add Amulet to items in [Difficult] Dowry Pt. 1: Tell the king you'll take on the Amulet Request as well, what's one more task on the pile?

Combo it is. While normally pushing for the most plus ultra creation is tempting it'd be too cramping at this juncture after we just spent a full turn on campaign.

Huh, so we do part 1 with two actions proc a trait for overflow and part 2 with a further two actions to proc the trait again. Would that be possible in the same turn or like previous multi part things where we only have access to part 1 and we need to finish it before unlocking further parts?

Because if so I can see putting off research and using 4 actions to knock out the requests with a general theme to go with them. Tying them together. Then maybe the King and Princes armour after (if we don't plan to do adamant armour).

So they should work with other chains we've had in which case putting two actions into the Dowry commission would complete both parts (three actions total to do the chain).

We'd want one action to pick it and then all of our actions into part two for maximal overflow. However because it should be like any other chain for simplicities sake we can as you note, put all of our actions into it and knock out the entire commission in one turn and still overflow part two.

Yeah, I'm thinking hold Snerra back, have her chuck an apprentice action at it while we do the beast tongue rune and maybe an explore/research action for Firestone's, hopefully. Finish up the firestone research the next turn before going all in on the request.

God, juggling want and need with limited AP sucks. I definitely want the amulet to incorporate firstone somehow but I think we need to research it first. Delaying the turns and probably jeopardising a timeframe to have every request (dowry and king/prince armour) done within 4 turns.

Uh she can't. They're Difficult Requests. Letting her go lets us wrap up Griffons and Rune Metal next turn, clean our plate before we deal with the Dowry commission and Armor commission through Turn 16 to Turn 18.

E: And you can't put Apprentice actions onto a part of a chain that has only one action, or half its actions already filled.

I'm gonna be honest, making it so apprentices can't help with difficult commissions make sense, even if it annoys me and I look dumb now.

Damn. I still think a firestone necklace would fit the second request of the dowry, researched or not.

It would! I love the image of sending Orra off to Ungor with a shiny orange glowing amulet to remember her home by. Its a wholesome image.

Funnily enough it would be better suited if the Hold she was moving too was further north than her current one. Her new necklace would keep her warm through the cold winters! Except she's going to a hold more southern so it's mildly warmer.

Still a wholesome image, just a funny thing I noticed.

Hmm we have a lot of things in our plate now...Though I do wonder if we even have the time to craft ourselves some improved personal equipment. A better weapon and armor might come in handy later.

My hope if we combo things together and let Snerra go on her Journey on turn 15 and complete the Rune Metal and Griffons on Turn 15 is that we can complete the Dowry request on turn 16 and the Armors on turn 17. Just do those chains in one turn each. That should leave us turn 18 to do personal equipment if we want to.

Course someone would have to make a write in write up for such a project, but that's entirely doable and we have a good slew of ingredients for most of the Master Runes I remember folks being interested in.

Im personally waiting til we get Adamant refining and have researched the silver Wutroth before putting forward plans for that. Silver Wutroth for all of the wood needs for runes with adamant metal bits. Then making adamant armour and weapons for battle. Be the shiniest dwarf on the field.

These greedy trolls are menace. We should put a bounty on their hearts. A runic item for every few hearts.
I'm honestly more surprised about where the hell they were hiding that they didn't get picked up in the purge until the end. If that didn't cull their number for the next decade I don't know what will. They're an off shoot of troll so they breed like rabbits, hence the decade long grace period.

[Non Canon]: Imperial Historia Josef Wolfenburghsters Treatise on Norse Dwarf Runesmith Cultural Icons
Because we'll have unleashed on the world... a Runesmith, nay, a Dawi who doesn't Grumble.
Oh that gives me an idea.
Hope this is found to be amusing @soulcake

Transcribed Lectures from the University of Altdorf on Dwarf Runesmiths: Scions of the Gift giver

Dwarf historical records and sagas often recount the deeds and creations of runesmiths throughout the ages. An intriguing exception to this occurs when one examines the records of the Norscan Holds, specifically Kraka Drakk and Snorri Klausson. While the deeds of the Gift Giver are many and varied (See the Battle of the Dragon's Maw, Trollslayer, Foundations of the Norscan Ungdrin Ankor....) very often the Runelord's apprentices are included in the histories. As if the dwarfs are not only crediting the Runelord for legendary works and deeds but also giving him credit for training those that would become legends in turn.

Of those taught by Runelord Klausson, three individuals stand out in particular. Dolgi Embermane (often referred to as 'Thane of the Granite Throng') created a vast army of near-indestructible golems that stand as eternal guardians against incursions from the Chaos Wastes into Dwarf lands. Fjolla Stokkisdottir (The Shieldmaiden) also raised defenses against the Ruinous Powers, but against their more insidious influences. Massive obelisks, hewn from the very hearts of the mountains and coated with Gromril-inlaid Runes that create a protective aura cover the entirety of the Norscan peninsula dampening and weakening the energies flowing from the Northern Wastes. Without this protection Imperial scholars agree that the Norscans would have universally fallen to Chaos and forced their dwarf neighbors to exterminate them for their own safety.

The third and most famous would be Snerra Magnasdottir, the Shining One. While her older counterparts are known to mostly have worked in the Norscan Holds, Magnasdottir is recorded to have visited every Dwarf Hold along the World Edge Mountains and elsewhere. As the Time of Woes began, the now-ancient Runelord enacted what has been described as one of the greatest feats of Runic craft since the ancestor god Thungni himself. At the heart of every Dwarf Karak she crafted a great runic artifact as tall as any curtain wall, tied to the royal family. It's effects are straight-forward if far from simple. So long as the royal family stood, so long as this place could truly be called a Karak; no greenskin or skaven would be able to set foot in the Karak's holding without burning alive.

AN: Noblebright ending where our bumbling beardlings of apprentices took all the discoveries etc that we passed onto them and ran with it.
