On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

-[X] Alvinad (Copper Clad), The left hatchling with beaten Gromril spines and copper flecked eyes.
-[X] Simonok (Cunning Fire), The middle hatchling, with some spines that look as if they were subjected to flames.
-[X] Theodoral (Harsh/Unyielding Gold), The right hatchling, larger than its siblings with shifting eyes.

Well the Ancestor Gods wanted their descendants to get off their asses and try to match them. I guess from Thungi's PoV this may be a 'be careful what you wish for'. I would not imagine he is pleased with us skating on the bleeding edge of radicalism (we literally voted for as much as we could get away with and keep Snori's honor) so as much for Snori's sake as for that of the rest of the dwarfs I imagine Grungison would prefer we would have gone for something less dramatic, but it's here, it's loud and it's proud so all he can do now is watch.

Master Snorri that was as haggard as Dolgi's ever seen him.

Snorri "Feeling the AP Hell yet?" Snorri

One is an insult filled rant from Vragni, of which you've sent an equally insult filled critique back about his own Radicalness with an equally petty remark about his own little project that he's starting because of you.

HA! What's he gonna do?

Make the Rune Hunters?

Judgement withheld pending results.
Would it be hubris to use this as the centerpiece in the creation of one of the structural rune arrays for Khazagar?

Put it in as the Runiversity's motto!

Why are we naming one copper-clad when its eyes only have copper flecks? The spines it is clad in are gromril-colored.

Ah good catch so…

Fortune favours the bold. Not to even begin to compare, but the Ancestors themselves tore down and spat upon many a tradition establishing Dawi kind today.

This ends in fire, whether it's a firework or a conflagration is to be seen. I believe it's worth trying anyway. We're going down in history either way.

I just had an idea what this version of Kraka Drakk would look like in Total War Warhammer 3, so here are the special buildings:

The Dragon Gates (Tier III)
More than simple gates, these are fortifications behind fortifications, meant to defy even assaults that can break the hardest single line through the application of defence in depth.
  • Defensive supplies: +1000
  • Attrition: +30% when under siege
  • Melee defence: +6 when defending (armies in region)
  • Ammunition: +30% during siege defence battles (all armies)
Drongkaraz, the Stormpeak (Tier IV)
Home of the greatest aerie of the Branakroki and a symbol of their alliance with the Dawi, now and forever.
  • +2 Recruit Rank (Armies in this region)
  • +4 Recruit Rank (Branakroki and Branakroki-Riders, all armies)
  • +10 Diplomacy (Dwarves)
  • 100% line of sight for the city
  • Allows the recruitment of Branakroki and Branakroki-Riders
  • Additional Garrison (2 Branakroki-Riders and 1 Runesmith)
Khazagar, Heart of Northern Runecraft (Tier V)
A fortress within a fortress, this place is the closest thing to a guildhall that the Runesmiths of the Dawi have. The united Runesmiths not only improve their craft here, but also flood the region with their works and that of their many apprentices.
  • +3 Lord Recruit Rank
  • +5 Runesmith Hero Recruit Rank
  • +10 Armor (All Armies)
  • +10 Armor-Piercing Damage (All Armies)
  • +2 Oathgold per turn
  • +20% Income from all buildings in this region
  • Reduces the cooldown of all cast Runes by 10%
  • Additional Garrison (1 Runesmith, 1 Huscarl, 2 Ironbreakers)

Well, this might be a bit dry, but I hope it's generally in line with good special buildings in the game.
Edit: And yes, obviously in the far future of the setting Branas and Brana-Riders would be a staple of Dwarves armies. Propably even Brana-Stormmasters as Hero-units, though I don't see them as Lords in the game.

-[X] Izdok (Copper Eyed), The left hatchling with beaten Gromril spines and copper flecked eyes.
-[X] Zharrok (Cunning Fire), The middle hatchling, with some spines that look as if they were subjected to flames.
-[X] Grimgal (Harsh/Unyielding Gold), The right hatchling, larger than its siblings with shifting eyes.

Voting for this for now, though I still feel the first name is the weakest.

When the door to his teacher's office opens Dolgi is face to face with a Master Snorri that was as haggard as Dolgi's ever seen him.

- Dolgi was one of the last people that Snorri spoke with before Snorri went to hatch the eggs. Therefore, Dolgi would be on Snorri's mind at the time of the egg-hatching and hatchling-naming.
- Snorri was deeply, deeply exhausted when he went to hatch the eggs. Exhausted people make mistakes.
- What's the biggest and worst mistake that Snorri associates with Dolgi? That's right, you already know the answer.
- Therefore, the only possible names that Snorri could give the hatchlings, at a time when he is exhausted & mistake-prone and having Dolgi in his mind, are as follows:

[ ] [Name:] Write-in. No more than 3, preferably 2, syllables.
- [ ] Snorrison (Son of Snorri), The left hatchling with beaten Gromril spines and copper flecked eyes.
- [ ] Snorrisonson (Son of Son of Snorri), The middle hatchling, with some spines that look as if they were subjected to flames.
- [ ] Snorrisonsonson (Son of Son of Son of Snorri), The right hatchling, larger than its siblings with shifting eyes.

* Replace "son" with "dottir" as applicable, once Snorri gets round to checking the hatchlings' sexes.

I am wondering what these rolls mean? I know its the Drakk'd roll but what roll does what is what I want to know.

RHUNRIKKI STROLLAR (Warhammer Fantasy Golden Age Dwarf Runelord Quest) Fantasy - Users' Choice!

Increasingly radically, but Master Runes are still his hard limit. You'll never be spamming them out, and if he ever makes more than 1 copy a century it'll be for a reason he sees as worthy of the effort. Also, I appreciate all the Rune-Ideas being made fellas, I apologize for the lack of...

Soulcake rolled them here

1. Real as Rock
2. The Heat of Fire
3. Ephemeral as the Wind(s)
4. Tangible as Truth

1. The Beast
2. The Automata
3. The Being
4. The Amalgam

We have:
Real as Rock + The Being
The Heat of Fire + The Being
Tangible as Truth + The Beast

The guess is that the first roll is affinity, and the second is temperament or intelligence level.
We lucked out getting two beings.

The biggest of the dragons is almost certainly the "Beast"

- [X] Snorrisonsonson (Son of Son of Son of Snorri), The right hatchling, larger than its siblings with shifting eyes.

I'm snorri about this, but it's too good

Do kinda regret the dragon eggs at the same time as the controversy started. Obviously we couldn't have known it would be now rather than next turn or the turn after. However it does kinda look like Snorri got so sick of this controversy that he decided to kick off another so that people would start complaining about something new and interesting.

you could probably make it smoother by just going Gronguz
"Oh no, dads mad. He pronounced the 't'"

I vote 'Smaug', 'Glaurung', and 'Ancalagon'.

...what? :V
I am an eldritch being of my word.

Why are we naming one copper-clad when its eyes only have copper flecks? The spines it is clad in are gromril-colored.
Because I was a derp and initially read the copper bits as cladding, and Izdok sounds worse than Izklad to my ear. Perhaps instead of its body that is clad in copper, its a hope that its mind is clad in copper - a very helpful, cunning, and adaptable metal.

Thinking about ways to ensure that we do as good a job as possible on the runiversity, I think we want to complete Wardstone research before we spend a turn full of Snorri's actions on it.

One of the worst ways this could fail is if enemies could magically scry on the place and listen in on runesmiths discussing runelore.

Now, other runesmiths may know of anti-scrying runes, but seeing as this is Snorri's project this doesn't matter, as he won't commission another runesmith to do what he can't.

In conclusion, we need to have completed Wardstones before Snorri gets around to installing the runic arrays on the place, otherwise there's unlikely to be space for them.

There's also a (small) chance that Thungni will come and inspect the physical infrastructure for flaws or potential failure modes like this, rather than having to wait for them to happen.

I'd prefer to get Wardstones (and possibly Mind of Things for the library holocrons) done in advance for this reason as well, so we'd have our keep infrastructure and defences installed.

Are there any other key research projects that are needed to secure or otherwise make the runiversity successful people can see?

I understand that the capstone project can be completed later and separately
