I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Despite it being risky for Snorri to extend himself further, having all of Norsca settled by dawi could snowball things so that chaos never gets a real foothold there.

Snorri is better suited to a life as a crafter honoring his wife than one willing to move on to another. That's what feels most in character and organic, particularly given he's over a 1000 and has a secure legacy.

I wish we could afford to go full bore on the northern expansion but it is just too risky with our current megaproject. If it was a better time, sure, but the next hundred years are going to be rough as we work on the Big goal of a Wonder (something even an Ancestor apparently has to work at).

As for our position, at some point we'll hopefully get a chance to switch our location, presumably once the roads are fully done. Also, its crucial to the plan right now, so us guarding it with our absurd tunic gear only makes sense. (Seriously, our gear is likely second only to Ancestor stuff and maybe their direct children.)

Perhaps. But picking option 2 doesn't stop us from doing that. It just allows for the possibility of finding someone again.
It's still us that decides how stubborn we want to be about this.

Also just an FYI Rune ideas are still open, I apologize if my silence on that part may have dampened enthusiasm there.
 
Dwarves are people with a soul of stone. It's hard for them to change. And a thousand-year loyalty to the deceased spouse is probably a common thing among the elders. Which is aggravated by the ratio of 3 men to 1 woman. Finding a partner of equal rank will be extremely difficult for Snorri. And the relationship with the younger ones will always be overshadowed by the mountain of glory of one of the most revered living ancestors. And falling in love with short-haired children who are only 600 - 800 years old will be strange.

Oh, don't worry, I'm still trying to figure out if there's any interesting ideas for Runes and whatnot. Here's some Runes.
[Armor / Talisman]
  • Rune of Flameward: Derived from the Rune of Furnace, Warding, and Water Ward, this Rune covers its wielder in a thin layer of heat resistant film. More complex than its nature as a basic Rune, for many were the failures in the process of striking this Rune.
  • Rune of Dragonward: A specialized variant of the Rune of Warding, this Rune provides a mitigation against attacks made by a dragon.
[Talisman] Master Rune of the Unseen Hand: Allows the wearer to move objects with their mind. Requires concentration and intent to work; the larger the object, the more mentally exhausting. Manifests a telekinetic hand to do the job, ala Elfen Lied-style Vectors.

[Banner] Master Rune of Galvanism: When activated shrouds the army in a lightning aura that increases their speed and reflexes, as well as electrifying their weapons and armor.

[Banner] Master Rune of Brutality: When activated, allies in range become more brutal, stubborn, and ferocious, and their strength rises the angrier they get.

Don't know if anyone did this one yet
Rune of Fire/Magma Skin- like stone skin, but with magma instead, don't use outside battle, or near friends. Can double as being your own forge
 
Rune Ideas still open? Don't mind if I do:
[Weapon/Ammunition] Rune of Marking:
Those wounded by a Weapon bearing this Rune are marked in a way that makes them trackable over large distances by the holder of the Rune of Seeking.
[Talisman] Rune of Seeking:
Scribed onto a disk with a freely spinning element (for example a compass), said element will unfailingly point in the direction of the Marked wound.
A pair of Runes invented on the commission of a ranger who often went on lone excursions and often found bigger prey gone by the time he brought backup.

And we have WoG that its fine. We simply will have favour debt with ravensnake. And either pay it off or wait for them to call it.

Besides, soul wouldn't give us option that we can't take without making it clear in option itself

I am disappointed by the number of rampant shippers/shipping enthusiasts.
