I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Ill be honest with that Runed Gromril Gate option I am tempted to put all 4 actions into it. With the over flow that would be 6 actions or 133% Overflow. Hehehe added benefit of making Trolls scared of a Gate if we make it good enough.

-[ ] The Greedy One's Heart: [Cost: 4 actions.] Student of the Odd will proc

Leaning towards this right now. 1 action to get DiD 3 started, with the other 3 completing the Greedy Heart. Then next turn we can put two actions into DiD to complete it with one overflow, 1 into Girding, and 1 into Yorri's hideouts.

Though I can be convinced to complete requests this turn if needed, depending on how wary people are of suddenly daemons next turn.

"Yes master!"

"You both have until I get back to be finished," you tell them as you turn and walk out the door.
Heeeeeeeee. I love how he set that up.

They totally got it.

"You think so?" Dolgi asks, voice light.

"Don't get sappy on me now you rockhead, we have furniture to haul," Fjollar groans in exasperation.

"Right!....right," he stammers
I love the way these two interact.

You only sniff in what could maybe be constituted in approval.
Ah, fucking Daemons. Weeeeeeeee.

@soulcake should our apprentices teaching thing be 4 turns or 3?

[] Plan We Are Almost Out of Time, Go NOW.
-[] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 4 turns.
-[] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 2 Apprentice Actions] Locked in for 6 turns.
-[] [Simple] Defence. In. Depth Pt3: [Cost: (4-1) =3 actions] Productivity Like No Other Will proc. 4 Actions.
--[] Petition the Hold, Gromril: Petition King Otrek and the Council of Elders to consider the merits of turning the main gate into a giant slab of Runed Gromril and Stone. The cost is massive, but the defence and the prestige are...incredible. [Cost: 15 Favour with the Hold and 10 Favour with King Otrek]
-[] Order: Invisible Diamonds.

The point of this plan is to buckle down on Defense In Depth for the next several turns, to build up as much overflow on it as we can to prepare for the ass blasting heading our way. There's probably one or two more stages after the Murder Maze given the phrasing, but there is also this part from last update:
The Inner Hold Defences.

So it was that you nodded in stoic acceptance, internally cackling all the while.

Oh, you didn't think you'd even get the chance for another decade at least but here you were, given almost total freedom to turn the Inner sections of the hold into a truly terrible time for any bastard that broke through.

So it was near the decades end that work crews began chiselling away, starting progress on what you've come to affectionately call…

...The Murder Maze.

Oh, you liked this King already! One of your better decisions to push for his crowning looking back on it. Even half-unconscious you still knew how to pick 'em!
I'm going to treat this like we don't have more than thirty years, I.e Three turns. That isn't enough time to finish Rune Metal and our hold defenses, and our hold defenses are bluntly more important. If however that doesn't appeal I have this other plan as an option.

[] Plan Trickle of Research, Building Defenses, The New Normal
-[] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 4 turns.
-[] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 2 Apprentice Actions] Locked in for 6 turns.
-[] [Simple] Defence. In. Depth Pt3: [Cost: (4-1) =3 actions] Productivity Like No Other Will proc. 3 Actions.
-[] The Rune Metal Pt. 3: [Cost: (12 -2) =10 Actions] Student of the Odd and Mind of Metal will proc. 1 Action.
-[] Order: Invisible Diamonds.

The intent of this plan is in the name, what we're probably going to have to do once the Daemons fall on our heads and if you think there may be more than one part left on Defense in Depth. Still some overflow if this is the end like I think, though not as much. Also easy to swap with the Heart.

But like I said. I think this is soulcake gently informing us that we are entering the point where we'll be out of time shortly. Not this turn, probably not next turn, but the turn after? No way to tell really, so I'm going to assume we will be.

[] Plan That Dick's In-Laws Are Coming...
-[ ] [Simple] Girded in Metal: King Otrek has come to you with a request to engrave Runes on the Gromril armour of his royal guard, or Huskarls as members of the hold also call them. These doughty elders formed from his honour guard and the best warriors of the other clans seconded to his personal defence. The position is one of great honour for these dwarfs and their clans and rewards great. It is only part of the greater armament program King Otrek is undertaking, as he has commissioned many runesmiths for a variety of tasks, but the lives of these dwarfs and by extension his own, he only dares entrust to you. There is no rush, these are dwarfs still armed in Gromril armour and weapons after all. [Cost: 1 action] Productivity Like No Other Will proc.
-- [] 1 Action
[ ] The Greedy One's Heart: This thing has been transferred to a warded container because you don't really trust anything that came from that thing. You're all but certain you could make a truly potent Rune of Healing or Fortitude with this thing, but perhaps there are other uses for it you could come up with that a battery of tests could reveal.[Cost: 4 actions.] Student of the Odd will proc
-- [] 3 Actions

Reasoning:
Between all the other shit we'll have to do and the sheer scale of the finish project even after we finish Part 3, Rune Metal is too big. The Heart can be completed and decided on far quicker. More immediately? We're ahead of schedule, and the Daemons aren't here yet. I do not believe it will be "suddenly a wave", but gradual. We will have time to do even more defenses. What is much more immediate is the king going out and about. THAT is something that can be affected by us.

And we need something special that will help us get through the times to come, and I believe the Greedy Heart will provide that. It will take too much for Rune Metal to provide the same.

Hey @soulcake

Can we add a Write in to make a graduation gift for the Senior Apprentices?
Brought up the idea Master Rune of Current Axes or Blades (whichever each of them prefer) before. One with Might and Strinking. The other Might and Parrying. HuntingGale and WardingGale or something else finning.

Now weve got six more kinda want to try a bunch more combos get a real sample set going. Investing enough actions and customization in each so none are shameful of course. Though now I'm wondering whether to give them all DaemonSlaying instead of Might as the common lesser rune.

[ ] ****t is about to hit the fan , dress accordingly

[ ] [Simple] Defence. In. Depth Pt3: The Murder Maze. Dwarfholds by virtue of their construction are already naturally difficult to take. Mountain over top, tight confines for most non-dwarf beings, natural inclination to build things with defence in mind and the incredible indignation of dwarfs whose homes are being threatened make a tough time for any attacker to get through. You dont think it's enough. What you plan is more than just your standard dwarfhold defence. Alchemical Fire, artificial cave-ins, the tried and true tactic of funnelling enemies into kill zones, is only the TIP of this final phase. Can you add a Invisible Diamond for the Warmachine?

And @soulcake can you confirm that that horn from Trollpus is worthless as a Master Rune of Despair reagent for a Warhorn?

Based on what, if I might ask?
It's taken time for this to happen. We know that it took around a thousand years or more based on the time the Gates shattered to when the Dwarfs were hit, so it's not immediate. Likewise, our first sighting of daemons was not "suddenly everything around us is a Chaos Incursion". We know the Slann held back Chaos, but were forced back.

Anyways, a creation from the Heart will help us and the hold far quicker than Rune Metal will. But if we don't act to get it, we will keep putting it off until suddenly there's no time at all.

--[] 1 Action
-[] The Rune Metal Pt. 3: The Gromril isn't pure, well metaphysically. You need to first devise a Rune or Runic array necessary to draw out the magical impurity from the Gromril itself before you can even begin to tackle the actual physical makeup of such a procedure. You're lucky there's a large body of Runework dedicated to removing or stopping magic cold in its unstable tracks, otherwise this would have taken far longer. Your gut tells you nevertheless, that nothing short of a Master Rune will cut it.[Cost: (12 -2) =10 Actions] Student of the Odd and Mind of Metal will proc.

I am solidly sold on this plan by @BungieONI afterwards we could just let this linger due to how much we have poured into it at this point

Alright, new reader first time actually posting here, but a thought. Assuming I'm interpreting it correctly, putting 3 actions into The Rune Metal should get us 5 in result, at 10 points needed that means two turns of doing so should finish it, and we'll probably have enough time for that. As such, would it not be best to go for that and throw the last point into Girded in Metal? Especially since the threats will grow over time, which means we should be able to finish Defense in Depth on turn 3 from now.

putting actions in to rune metal part 3 is kinda inefficient right now. our traits only trigger if we spend 3 action in one turn on it, and since we have exactly 10 action left on the rune metal research.

A creation from the Heart in the sense of "we research it now, and then hurry up into making it" is a waste imo, if that's what you mean. Its the kind of thing that needs supporting ingredients we don't have, for one thing. And other research from stuff like Rune Metal, for a second thing.

At least one of the benefits of the Incursion is that we'll get a good deal of opportunity to get ingredients from nasty, non-daemon beasties as they freak out and start rampaging.

We can't finish the Rune Metal in 30 years period, I think, even if we devoted everything we had to it. It's a reasonable guess of how long we have, and I'm expecting at least one, maybe two more parts to Rune Metal, considering it needs a Master Rune.

Right, which is why the Greedy Heart is probably better in that last slot.
