It really does look like Akiko's about to attempt to strong arm us into handing over the UG. I suggest asking Homura about Fukushima's capabilities. Not the UG. It does us no good, getting them in a panic.

[x] Discretely prepare a few grief marbles. Keep them in marble form unless attacked, to avoid prematurely startling anyone.
[x] Disconnect from Sendai. Telepathy Homura. Patch in Mami and Kirika. Ask about the Fukushima group, their members, powersets and general disposition.
[x] Look around for Akiko/the rest of the Sendai group
[x] Press Sakura about Akiko

edit: some changes. Forgot to add Mami and Kirika to the telepathy.

I don't think Sabrina needs to prepare marbles, doesn't she have an entire bag of them sitting next to her? Mucking around with them probably isn't going to do much, and I imagine those gathered are still a bit jumpy. I mean, it's not awning level, but the fact that you're attempting to conceal it isn't going to help your case if it is noticed.

Uh... are you sure about that? I got a completely different read. If Akiko wanted to strong arm us why did she leave Sakura behind? I was under the impression that she left to clear her thoughts or something along those lines. Otherwise, she'd be inviting a conflict of 4 vs 8, the only way it would be even is if Fukushima arrived which is not a sure thing. Then again I doubts she's very rational at the moment, but we have so little information we don't know what to do.

Of course you may be right and an ambush is being prepared. I'm unsure of my interpretation, it helps to be vigilant.

If Sabrina's already prepared, nothing will happen. It's a subtle enough action that we should be fine. They're black marbles in a bag on the floor at night. It's going to be really difficult to notice.

Its been months since the last fight. What are her offensive abilities apart from snapping gems within 200m? I presume we want to be non-lethal most of the time (MG's can take lot of punishment though).

She can make grief wings, grief shields and is apparently extremely durable. How fast is she? Whats attacks can she do?

Isn't everything dictated by her 200m range?
Outside of grief control? We're kind of a shitty meguca. Okay, not really shitty. Maybe lacking experience in actual combat.

Again outside our grief control, we're pretty good with our fuck-off warhammer.

Our inexperience shows in our average reflexes (which shows when we got wounded on our fight with the Ishinomaki girls even with all our shields flying around)

We have a much better handle on our pain supression. A slight advantage against the average MG,not when our abilities don't require too much attention.

We're also immune or highly resistant to disturbing scenes (like Masami's body after dropping the illusion).

What does that mattter whether it is daytime, we are not discussing this without light from cafe if it is night anyway, so they'll be visible when looked at. (Plus UG girls are old enough magical girls to have long-time contacts with Mami) That said, if floor is black this is much better idea.

@Firnagzen: What color is the floor of cafe?

Just to clarify, "snapping" gems is speculative, though we have been able to grab someone's gem that wasn't properly secured.
We need to find out grief's lifting capacity. How much weight can you raise with but single marble's worth of grief

Anyway, there is also getting that grief out of gem and stabbing. Will not work at all on Akiko if she is water, though, and even with other meguca it is but a flesh wound.

I personally am thinking of moving them farther away than just arms and legs.

How much like regular marbles do they look like, particularly to non-meguca? We could "accidentally" dump them on the floor, they'd be all over the room (making it harder for an attacking meguca to lock down)

That'd be less stealthy, but also less alarming (particularly since it means moving them by simply rolling them across the floor, rather than using grief-telekinesis).

@Random832: The elderly cafe propretior is going to want us to clean up our mishap, fast. Otherwise, I don't think she would react to marbles, even if they looked little unusual.

Also, if discovered it is indeed less alarming, but...That is even worse idea than grief awning from negotiation perspective.

Cheesus Crust 800 pages!

I'm really doubting the possibility of stealthily spreading grief marbles around. The things are dark, but it's still not yet night time, more like evening turning into night. There's rain clouds incoming but not there just yet and as Lement says, there should be light coming from the cafe.

At most, we can move them under the table and 'stick' them to the underside of the table.

I think this is largely irrelevant. Sabrinas bag should't be in anyone's field of vision. Unless you're hyper alert its extremely unlikely you're going to notice anything.

@Onmur: I am convinced. We have grief senses, meguca senses and bag of marbles right next to us. Spreading them around is relevant mostly to protect UG, and they already have grief seeds on them at the very least. Meanwhile, UG lashing out at us if they notice that would be very awful.

Removing that line from my vote.

In the future, though, lets wear grief jewelry or similar if we can't use constellation of grief.

Last time that idea came I think we decided not to in case the grief ate our fingers or something.
Possible explanations for a missing finger:
a) "Damn them witches."
b) "I had a disagreement with a sharp implement."
c) "Jewelry accident."
d) "Today I learned a valuable lesson." Don't elaborate.

I'm saying that I find the action as being completely unnecessary in the first place. The marbles are already right next to her, there's a huge heap of them on the roof, and she can deploy them very quickly; what more are you trying to do here?

You know, we could just be direct about the Akiko thing. Ask Sakura where she's gone on the grounds that her vanishing could be an indication she's about to try an ambush or something (when one party goes missing in the middle of cease-fire negotiations, it's probably not a good sign). Or just ask Akiko herself where she's wandered off to.

You got me at 'direct'.

EDIT: We can ask them both simutaneously. There's little chance they'll both answer but if they do, we can catch them if they have different answers.

...There's always the underneath the table and the chairs.
Who are you trying to protect there, the floor from Earthquake girl?

Last time that idea came I think we decided not to in case the grief ate our fingers or something.
A) Flesh wound
B) We sat on grief for hours. Surely this will be fine
C) If that is true, it is further SCIENCE. If it isn't true, it is still further SCIENCE. Either way, valuable SCIENCE.
D) We can just lay it over clothes/leviate it where applicate, like with necklaces and bracelets?

You're forgetting that both us and UG have several grief seeds on them, which is why I decided that spreading them out is rather pointless when grief is already spread out on all that we want to protect.

@NSMS: Asking Akiko herself would be better, I think, what's with Sakura implicitly saying "Don't want to tell you".

[] Look around for Akiko/the rest of the Sendai group
[] Press Sakura about Akiko
[]Ask Sakura who else in the Sendai group all the others could trust to speak for them. What if they all came over and Rin healed Yumi's neck?
[] Discretely prepare a few grief marbles. Keep them in marble form unless attacked, to avoid prematurely startling anyone. Ask Mami and Kirika to help watch.

I don't think it's important enough to start my own vote over, but couldn't we ask Mami where she's gone? She might be outside of her range, too, but we know her sensing abilities trump ours. Also, maybe add
[] Ask Sakura if Akiko was accumulating a lot of grief just now.
She might have run off to grief spiral, and it kind of shows that we care.
