I've seen way too many B-Horror movies to know that Grief-fueled video games is a tremendously bad idea.
"Sabrina, did you forget to pack anything but horror games?"
"...Not really, why?"
"All of the games have screaming faces and whispering in the background music when you try and play them."
"...Yeah, that's the grief. Sorry."
... why would the games go horribly wrong? We play Grief-fueled music all the time without driving anybody insane with an unintended Chorus of the Damned. I don't get it.

There's a difference between doing something we have full control of and using Grief as a fuel for a complicated computer we would only barely understand the minute details of.

Like, acoustic instruments is one thing. Computers capable of simulating video-game worlds is probably unwise and AI is a Crapshoot-style Holodeck Malfunctioning is highly likely.

Random thought: Would Yuma's power also heal massive migraines?

Because if it does, Oriko will love Yuma and never let her get out of her sight.

She's strong enough to regrow limbs in SECONDS. Migraines are child's play.

Cue Kyoko and Oriko having a tug of war over who gets to keep her as their little sister.
And then Kirika gets a little sister and a step-sister.

"This is like the best day ever. Well besides the time that I confessed. And all the times I spent with Oriko. Oh and that one time when I got to be Sabrina's bodyguard...okay so it's not the best day ever..."

"Look all I'm saying is this is better than the time I played videogames with Sabrina."

"It wasn't that bad, you guys."

"Sabrina we still can't find Nakazawa-kun. He's GONE!"

"The Xbone has him now..."

@AuraTwilight Wouldn't that require Grief to be like actively malevolent or something?

That feels like expecting the acid in my car's battery, because it's toxic, to turn the car into Christine.

You're questioning if the tangible manifestation of human despair and suffering is actively malevolent. Take a step back for a second.

All sarcasm aside, my concern is "Grief + Circuitboard that has superficial similarity to a human brain."

o_O Okay, when put that way it does sound kind of bad.

I just figured if that was the case, we'd have seen some serious unintended effects by now. Other than the gas being corrosive and it freaking out meguca (we're totally not a Witch) it hasn't done anything we haven't told it to.

"We've Got Hostiles" pt. 22
"Yeah," you agree, smiling back. "Just... try and break the ice between them, a bit? I mean, we just need them to... stop sniping at each other."

Mami brightens. "Of course, Sabrina," she replies. She turns back to the table, face smoothing to a pleasant smile and posture straightening almost imperceptibly.

"Miss Tsubaki, Miss Mori," Mami says, her head dipping in a slow nod. "Miss Umeko, Miss Suzuki, Miss Suzuki." She turns her head to meet the eyes of each person addressed as she speaks, faint smile everpresent.

"Miss Tomoe," Chouko nods in response, as does Rin. The others can't help but smile back, and truth be told, neither can you suppress a small smile.

"Miss Tsubaki, we understand your grievances with Miss Hamasaki's group, and what they've done," Mami says, holding out a hand to indicate Rin. "But surely you understand that if you seek only to punish them, it will only leave them with ill will towards you?"

"We're not letting them get off so easily," Chouko says.

"Of course not," Mami nods. "That's not going to happen either," she says firmly. "We're here to ensure that both sides will accept this peace. All we ask is that you give this a chance."

Chouko nods. "We... are willing, Miss Tomoe."

"As are we," Rin adds, before her face twitches in a small frown. "As are we," she repeats.

Mami's smile widens fractionally. "That's good to hear," she says warmly, gentle demeanour never wavering. "Then, Sabrina?"

You smile. "Thank you, Mami," you say, and lean forward again.

"Rin," you address the healer first. "Why did you need to pay Fukushima? I mean, just for their coming to help, or something else?"

Rin shakes her head. "No, just for their, ah, coming down here."

"OK," you say. "Is there anyone else you owe payment to? I'm willing to offer my services to them as well, if it puts an end to your need for more Grief Seeds. Or let me put it another way - is there any reason that an effectively unlimited amount of cleansings wouldn't satisfy any needs you were... hoping to fulfill from this war?"

Rin pauses, eyes unfocusing into the distance - talking to Akiko, then.

You turn to Chouko instead. "Would you agree to a mutual cessation of hostilities? My services for cleansing of Soul Gems are also on the table, of course." You hold up a finger, darting a glance at Yuko, as well. "Yes, what they did was wrong, but this way, it can be over without any more fighting."

Chouko grimaces. "If you could guarantee that it's mutual? That we don't get pressured any more? Yes, I would," she says.

Yuko folds her arms, and opens her mouth to say something, but Rei beats her to the punch. "Pretty big if," she pipes up. Yuko shuts her mouth, and nods in the green haired girl's direction. "What she said - it's a big if."

Rin's eyes refocus, her features twisted in a grimace. "'Grief Seeds are a valuable trading commodity in and of themselves'," she says, turning to you. "Thirty Grief Seeds, to replace the ones used, paid in installments." She swallows, and looks away. "That's what Akiko said."

"No, wait, what?" Yuko says, disbelief in her tone. "Really? You're in the wrong, and you-"

Rin squeezes her eyes shut. "'You attacked us first.' I... it's what Akiko told me to say," Rin defends herself, unwilling to meet anyone's eyes.

Chouko shakes her head. "Additional condition - you, Miss Sabrina, don't agree to this."

You glance at Mami. The smile's disappeared from her face, and judging from the way her brow's knitted, she isn't any happier with this either.

Well, way to dig your own grave, Akiko. I figure this is about the limit of Sabrina and the UG's patience.

Either she's batshit or she's actually trying to sink negotiations.

[x]It's not your fault, Rin.
[x]Please tell Akiko that that's completely unacceptable, and that she should know that. Does she actually know anyone who managed to get thirty grief seeds? And no, us cleansing isn't going to be an excuse for that. In addition, how does everyone else in your group feel about the conditions, Rin? Are they okay with this plan to...what, demand 30 grief seeds not to attack the University group?
[x]How many grief seeds does the Sendai group have on hand? Consider those being cleansed repayment if you want. But you don't need trading commodities- and definitely not as bargaining chips to end the fighting.
[x]I don't care who attacked who. It's over. No reparations. No payback. No trying to get seeds for things that may or may have happened. Is that mutually acceptable? If not, why not, exactly? I'd really like to hear the reasoning here.
[x]More importantly, can you both agree that neither of your groups is going to go after the other? No conditions. Just a ceasefire.

I'm seeing less and less of a chance for this to end peacefully. Akiko seems to be trying to provoke us, and is deliberately acting in bad faith. We should probably be prepared for her to attack or trap us. Seriously, I'm completely out of patience and understanding for her.

[x]Add in if Akiko is still being unreasonable, "Rin, Is the rest of your group willing to pass up on the ability to never have to be dependent on a finite resource resource. Because Akiko Is Staining My Goodwill Towards Her."

I find it strange that we still have no idea WHY Akiko wants all these grief seeds. If there is some reason why so many are needed, and cleanses are not a solution, I'd like to know why. (Payment for the hired muscle probibly would be solved with free cleansings, edit: so I don't think that is the whole reason why she wants so many seeds)

"As are we," Rin adds, before her face twitches in a small frown. "As are we," she repeats.
Hmm... Maybe a private link to Rin in case she wants to speak her mind about how possibly the Sendai group may not want a peaceful solution?

[q] Bury Akiko under all of our accumulated grief and look for a more sensible leader for the Sendai group.

It's nice to see that Rin doesn't like what she's hearing either. If we take everything what Akiko said up to date into account, she seems to use grief seeds as currency to get favors from other magical girl groups. If that really is the only reason for her actions, I'm sorely tempted to make a real vote including grief burying.

Edit: Wait a second. Is she talking about the three seeds we already refreshed for her after bailing them out of Ishinomaki, only multiplied by ten as punishment?
There is no way in hell they spent thirty seeds on grief cleansing, since the fighting started.

It's like Akiko wants war.

I wonder why. I mean Akiko ain't stupid. She knows how valuable we are. And she also has to know we aren't gonna back down from this.

Either she thinks we really are a pushover, or she somehow deluded herself into thinking we're on her side, or she really wants this war.

Which makes me really wonder why. Revenge? Crusade? Or did her wish/situation utterly fuck her up to the point she believes with all her heart that survival of the fittest is the only way to live?

Does she actually know anyone who has thirty grief seeds?
Akiko has. "Thirty grief seeds? Pshaw, that's peanuts.. for me." :V

It really looks like Akiko wants this war. She might've been greatly insulted when her 'lessers' suddenly grew a spine and pushed back against her. And she wants the 'permanent' kind of discplining to be applied.

And now that I remember how she went apeshit on the Ishinomaki girls about Kato Setsuko, plus *this*... Yeah I'm really doubting her sanity's fully intact at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if she's just hoarding all these grief seed for hoarding's sake.
