My guess is, she doesn't want to pay Fukushima, so she's pushing the bill onto the UG.
Sabrina just told Rin (and her) that she would cleanse them too, free of charge forever.

Akiko, what the flying fuck are you thinking? Did you want to become some tinpot Meguca dictator or something?

We might actually have to like...I dunno yoink her soulgem or something. Because this is patently ridiculous.

Lemme shadowrun for a moment here though, what if she's acting like this because she's got a lot of grief or something? Dumb I know, but I can't help but wonder. She knows no one can afford thirty seeds. (Well we could, simply by asking Homu to time stop and then going on a hunting spree.) So why in the hell is she asking for it?

Akiko's cold and logical way of thinking might also be a sign that's she 's a psychopath, which would go well with her not caring at all about others dying. They often appear as charismatic leader types on the oustide, but only really care about themselves and their position and can't really understand the emotions of others. Kind of a Kyubey light.
It might be that her wish messed a bit with her mind and intensified self-preservation instincts at the cost of others.

Okay, demanding 30 seeds is either deliberately trying to tank the negotiations (aww how cute, Akiko thinks she can actually strong-arm her way out of this one) or she's very stupidly referring to something else without providing the right context.

So...

What I'd like to say to Akiko right about now:
"Akiko, last chance: we bailed you out in Ishinomaki and stopped the fighting here. Everyone we have talked to has singled you out as an instigator and extortionist. You are the only one unwilling to settle for peace in exchange for my services. If these negotiations don't work out, I will hold you personally responsible. And if you have any delusions about being able to resist me through force or threats, you best abandon them now, because no one outside of Mitakihara can even fathom what I'm capable of if I fight with lethal force. And while I'd normally keep lethal force as an absolute last resort, the fact that you just told me that you don't care if your extortion scheme was killing girls because it meant they weren't strong enough anyway tells me that I don't have to worry here. Turnabout is fair play, after all. So, how about it? You think you can face me? I welcome you to try. It'd make things so much easier to just kill you, rather than find a solution that lets everyone--yourself included--be happy."

Of course, it'd be more ideal to drive a wedge between Akiko and Rin/Sakura before going full hostility mode, but Akiko seems to be doing a great job of tanking negotiations in rapid fashion, and giving her more time--even if it's just giving her more rope to hang herself with--seems rather risky.

how lethal is Sabrina power any way, i don't see it being too dangerous, her power is like most elemental-kinesis power,
dangerous
sure
but lethal enough to say something like that
i'm not seeing it

Clarifying edit made - Akiko doesn't expect the 30 to be paid at once. She knows that very few people can cough up thirty at once.

No, I don't expect that that makes things better; it's just that she's not stupid.

If she really is using this for paying Fukushima off, with the additional amount just because, then she really isn't taking us seriously. Considering the apathetic viewpoint she she seemed to have toward the tax on the UG running them into the ground, along with connections she has to other groups, and likely still just seeing Sabrina as a naive altruist, this might have to be solved with more than words.

Grrr... Akiko, we're trying to make sure you, and more importantly Rin (along with pretty much everyone else), don't end up getting murdered horribly. You're doing a shit job of incentivizing us. At this point I am sorely temped to just kill her and have done with because she's such a bitch. You can put the pitchforks away as I realize that gets us nowhere. Especially with how that will look if/when the Fukushima group shows up.

Anyway vote:

[x]It's not your fault, Rin.
[x]Please tell Akiko that that's completely unacceptable, and that she should know that. Does she actually know anyone who managed to get thirty grief seeds? And no, us cleansing isn't going to be an excuse for that. In addition, how does everyone else in your group feel about the conditions, Rin? Are they okay with this plan to...what, demand 30 grief seeds not to attack the University group?
[x]How many grief seeds does the Sendai group have on hand? Consider those being cleansed repayment if you want. But you don't need trading commodities- and definitely not as bargaining chips to end the fighting.
[x]I don't care who attacked who. It's over. No reparations. No payback. No trying to get seeds for things that may or may have happened. Is that mutually acceptable? If not, why not, exactly? I'd really like to hear the reasoning here.
[x]More importantly, can you both agree that neither of your groups is going to go after the other? No conditions. Just a ceasefire.

This bitch is going to stab us in the back if Oriko doesn't beat her to it.

Killing her is just going to make the war happen. Make sure her friends are less insane and make it very clear we're telling, not asking her, to sit down and play nice.

I realize that. That is why I'm not voting to just murder her outright because of spite and the bad taste working with a manipulative bitch of a fictional character is leaving in my mouth.

Eh, we don't know the relationship Akiko has with Fukushima. Right now, they sound completely mercenary.

Also, even if the war kicks off, it would be on our terms. Akiko's the unquestioned leader here. Sakura doesn't have the social capabilities to replace her.

It'll mean we can never trust the other Sendai girls again especially Sakura (and we'll be lucky if they don't try fighting us on the spot), sour things with Rin, make life difficult with Mami, and generally set an unpleasant precedent. Fukushima's just another unpleasant complication in there.

I get the feeling negotiations are about to break down, we should contact Homura and tell her to prepare to timestop the moment we tell her to.

On the other hand, the UG would love us. So would Ishinomaki. Fukushima's an unknown and the Sendai group have no competent leadership.

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating murdering her. Just pointing out if it happened, not everything would be horrible.

Homura is a long way away man. Even if she does have the capability and the seed supply (which we're pretty sure she does) she might be a tad bit irritated when she gets there.
