I... feel like this is an attempt to trap us in some circular argument and assault our image more than anything? I don't know if we should bite; I don't see what Toshimichi has anything to do regarding the nature of this offer. We're offering them freedom from Grieconomy and we're asking them to be kind to each other. It's a simple and straightforward deal that does not involve really involve Toshimichi in anyways beyond her capacity as the arbitrator of Tokyo.

Absolute worst-case scenario: she's actually some kind of murdering-tyrant who'd been keeping an iron fist over the city who also crafted just an excellent first impression to us, but even then that doesn't matter. The deal and its terms apply to everyone. Everyone plays nice, and everyone gets cleansed (We do need a better word than... cleanse).

We aren't working with Toshimichi to reinforce whatever authority she has here. She's working with us to free them from their engineered misery.

So ya! I like this!
[X] Yes—you. All of you. We intend to work and co-operate with every girl in Tokyo on this. That is why we are here, offering our resources, offering our help, instead of forcing the issue. If you have any concerns or complaints, you are free to come to me, or any member of Constellation, and we will step in, mediate and resolve it. We will even help you leave Tokyo, and move somewhere else if you wish it. We are not here to take sides. We are not here to cause conflicts. We are here to help.

This is not a bad direction. I worry about the degree of exposure involved in it but it is not a bad direction.

If we say "yes, we know who Chiyoda is" then Slow Clap Girl can accuse us of being complicit with their crimes (perceived or otherwise). If we say "no" that gives her a soapbox with which to slander and attack Chiyoda, and can then use that to discredit our alliance and our mission. It's absolutely a trap—the question is not asked in good faith.

I'm not sure what you mean by exposure?

-[X] That sounds like a question distinctly unrelated to my proposal. I am currently working with my associate Miss Tsuruya to establish and fortify the cleansing location, and I am working with you, collectively to authorize it. If you have a distinct issue that you believe Constellation would be willing and able to help with, in keeping with our mission statement of "make life for magical girls less horrific" feel free to contact us personally after the current business is settled.

[X] Mikuni Oriko blew off your leg, threatened to destroy your apartment, burned down Miki Sayaka's house with her family inside, and fully intended to do worse. You're working with her; she makes great tea and is a decent person. Her girlfriend gives ten out of ten love advice.
-[X] You don't know Toshimichi Akane especially well, but you're quite certain she bears some form of responsibility for one or more deaths under the pressures of the grief seed system. So do some members of Constellation.
--[X] The entire grief seed system -- it coercively warps who people are and how they act. All the world over it takes people like us and cracks them, pushes them to warlordship and murder. If she wants to accuse somebody of being the kind of person who would go out and attempt murder when free of that poisonous influence, you'd be happy to hear her out. You'd look into it and if you felt she was right about it you'd probably find yourself forced to act on it, because you're in this for what it will do for others, not what it will do for yourself.
---[X] But unless she's going to make that accusation... As far as what you're offering goes, anything she might say is almost certainly irrelevant. You're sure she could alter your personal opinions, but even something really drastic wouldn't be a deal breaker for you as long as you can trust the basic lack of a desire to be evil on the other side of seed scarcity.

[X] "Sendai as something we're willing to let go and Iowa as something we're not. Hopefully the embassy is a good starting place to figure that stuff out."

I like the direction, but to my ears it implies we are willing to do a slow take-over of Tokyo; replacing the functionality of the Tokyo Council.

We don't really want to be ultra-responsible for everything that happens in Tokyo, not more than we are to anyone else anyway. I'm not directly certain so far whether I think the exact wording you have falls on one side of that line or the other.

Oh, right, I see what you mean. I think if we focus on giving Tokyo the resources they need to become... self-sustaining? Independent? Not sure what the correct term would be, but the essence isn't "we're in charge" but instead "we're pulling you up to our level as equals".

Might have to step back and think about it to make it clearer.

No, it really is just about "does this commit us to putting too much effort into Tokyo or not." The biggest reason by far we want to do this through the council is to prevent an overcommitment to Tokyo... we have more things on our plate than just Tokyo.

I'm not certain one way or the other.

Maybe something along the lines of
I intend to speak privately with any who are willing after this meeting to better understand the political landscape here. The last thing I want is to start a war by being uninformed

Hows that sound to people?

Should I try?

[X] It doesn't matter who we're working with really because our offer, our goal, will stay the same no matter who were working with. We want to offer cleaning. We want to help everyone here.
-[X] Whatever misdeeds Chiyoda has done does not apply to us or our goals here, as their only involvement in this is in letting us operate within the city. Any problems with Chiyoda should be taken to Chiyoda, not us.

That... might cover our bases?? I don't know, I'm just taking a shot at navigating a trick question.

At this point, I'm not sure we have a choice. The situation in Tokyo appears to be rapidly declining—whatever Chiyoda were doing before, it seems to have reached a breaking point and is no longer sustainable.

Also, we are not alone—we have the rest of Constellation we can rely upon.

Mhm... I think letting Chiyoda handle this might be good. No need to constantly keep our hand on the reigns. Though I'm willing to listen otherwise.
I want to say the opposite. The question is directed toward us and letting her step in kind of makes Meiji's point for them. And it allows Chiyoda to be the ones who present what their relationship with us is to the rest of the council, which I don't trust them to do.
"why yes, I'm pretty sure I just introduced them? Here, I'll go over them again.

There's Mami, Sayaka, Homura, Oriko, Best Buddy, The Plediates Saints, ..."
You joke, but a slightly more serious answer on this vein might be a good starting point. "Didn't I just introduce them to you?"
Torg's caught some of my basic premise already.

The message we want to deliver here isn't that we don't care, isn't that we don't think she can change our mind -- it's that, "To a large degree, whatever you can possibly reveal about Akane that we don't know has no bearing on our willingness to pursue this deal."

Somebody is going to point out that the Oriko thing is mildly misleading on the basis that the issue with her wasn't seed scarcity. I concede the truth of that -- however as a direct example that on a personal level we are willing to forgive essentially anything, it is unsurpassed, and that makes it the perfect opener because it's functionally impossible for clapgirl to shut it down.

----[X] On that note, if anybody has some kind of problem to do with long-term curses inflicted by a witch, you've seen a couple cases of those and have some ability to alleviate or resolve them. (Extremely oblique reference to dewitching and the effects of seed-clearing) (1)

(1) -- a theory is that one of the antagonistic groups had somebody witch.
1- Bragging about all of Oriko's crimes and saying we're completely happy to work with her is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard in this thread. Even if we are happy to work with her that's because we know things about her that literally no one else in our audience can know, so we just come off as a lunatic rather than forgiving.
2- Accusing Toshimichi of murder, even if she probably has gotten someone killed by the laws of meguca statistics, is a terrible idea.
3- The middle stuff isn't great but it's not too bad.
4- Oblique references to dewitching with 'long-term curses' is a bad idea. I'm pretty sure nothing like that exists, so every veteran meguca who isn't in the know is going to wonder what we're smoking. And dropping dewitching hints in front of a crowd like this that we barely have a read on is a terrible idea given how poor of a reputation projects like that have. If there's anything that could loose us the upcoming vote even with Toshimichi's support it's several of her teams deciding they want nothing to do with mad science experiments like that.

This is the good shit. Maybe a couple more points, but we don't need every vote to be a wall of text, this is good.

Also good, but I don't like the feel of it as much as the above option.

I think we should let Chiyoda handle this one guys. This too is good information we need to get a better handle on this situation. We can use that time to telepathy our allies for comments and observations.

Afterwards I'd want us to interject our intention to speak to the groups individually to listen to and address concerns.

I think that's too hard a shutdown. We can't insist that everyone who gets our cleansing be excellent to each other and party on and then immediately say that someone not meeting that standard isn't our problem. What we want to get across here is that we're in the business of preventing future atrocities, not punishing past ones.

See, I feel like what this does is expose our friends and tell stories that were meant to be kept private. Not only is it a breach of privacy, though, it throws them under the bus to make the point that we'll accept literally anyone and forgive anything. I feel like the better point to be made here has been said by alternative votes, and (possibly) that we recognize that desperation, grief, and the entirety of the way this system is set up can drive people to do awful, awful things.

Put simply: the reason why this vote would end badly is for the same reason posting your family's medical history on SV would end badly for all involved parties. They're simply not our stories to tell-- We don't have permission from Sayaka and Oriko. Furthermore, while we may want to show some vulnerability, this is not the type of vulnerability that will help this scenario. It seems more like an easy way to create division throughout Constellation.

I don't think we should let them handle it, or even directly reference them in our answer. We need to answer this ourselves to avoid giving Chiyoda a chance to incite conflict between us and their rivals, but also avoid feeding the troll.
It's not quite as nice as we tend to prefer but I feel like not engaging with things unrelated to the cleansing station is important for avoiding conflict breaking out. Like, we absolutely should be nice to people but she's clearly baiting us in an attempt to incite outrage.
I'd prefer to use a bit of humor to smack them down first 'Didn't we just introduce our friends?', then transition to 'We're here to work with you, with the magical girls of Tokyo, not any particular team.'

I don't know, this is a really touchy situation. I think humor could be misinterpreted here. Yes humor can be used to disengage, but the stakes might be too high here to risk it. From personal experience, attempting to use humor in a scenario like this has a high chance of backfiring. I feel like it's the wrong tool to use right now. There's 42 different perspectives to consider. 42 chances that someone will not get the joke and get pissed off-- and everyone is already tense.

Good shit, wonderful twisting of the question.
