Personally, I'd take the 'understand' and raise it to the next level - that he EXPERIENCED everything he ever put his victims through. Worst Case Senario, he breaks under the experiences (like his fate at the end of Rebellion) - but at the least it would mean no more victims fall to him.
my idea for the power set would be that she can connect and communicate with others... INCLUDING HER OWN WITCH.
Basically, she'd end up a bit like Rebellion!Homura, in regards to her relation to her Shadow - a weird halfway state.
Kind of like how Benign Sith are often portrayed, she uses the anger her Grief generates/causes in relatively benign ways.
(Maybe this would result in her being able to drain other's Grief, kind of like in that Witch Quest, while still staying relatively stable and retaining her Human Appearance. If nothing else, because Human Choice creates the greatest Monsters)
(Basically, comparable to Ninshu- from Naruto)
on a somewhat lighter note:
What if Sabrina was the result of QB gaining an understanding of a Better Method - with Sabrina's goal, there would be no need to limit how many Magical Girls are made, since the amount of Grief that would be generated would, over time, grow exponentially.
Sabrina would basically be a Neo Incubator (name pending) which was sent back to ensure a stable time loop. Madoka's Wish set it up/into motion.
(To make an analogy- Sabrina:Kyubey :: Kirby:Zero - she's the FRIENDLY Eldritch Entity, though she isn't aware of the Greater Self (or, potentially, actualized it yet) )

I was actually planning on using a similar concept in a fanfic I plan on writing. I think it's far better both aesthetically and thematically than Doppels.

That is NOT the worst case scenario. The worst case scenario is that Kyubey gets driven sufficiently insane by the process that he ends up with emotions and thus becomes a candidate who can be granted a wish, and yet is still working toward his original goals.

The worst case scenario is him being eligible for a wish, but with the now extremly justfied desire to exact vengance against us and all we stand for, wich in our case, from his perspective, is the very concept of ethics.
Keep in mind that a QB wish, due to hilarious levels of potential to effect the universe due to being part of a Kardachev >= 4 civilization, would be so through the roof that he might very well eclipse even Madoka... not that he would grant her wish at that point, as under changed goals he no longer has a reason to if it isn´t directly benificial to him and a miriad not to.
In addition, as a being easily as old as human civilisation and the king of all rules lawyers he most certainly would get the utmost from his wish, most likely by using and abusing facts about the universe and it´s fundamental forces that we aren´t even properly aware off.
You thought killing something in Madokamis weightclass is hard? Try an entity with the domain "the nature of reality itself, as detailed in my 8000 page essay" instead of "all da dying liches I guess".
Give me some time and I might actually come up with an even worse scenario.

I don't believe we do, so we should probably shuffle that up to happen first, yes.
I am well aware. My rough plan is to poke Oriko, get a bead on the soujos, go beat them up with Sayaka and Kyouko, then do a bunch of witch hunting for the rest of the day, including at least one witchhunt with both Mami and Kyouko after school, then do the Momoe meeting in the evening.
