We have hammers, and as I said before, Iowa are a bunch of badly repaired and rearranged glass panels. The most we can do is literally break them, and leave them to pick up the pieces and fix themselves propelly.

Which, we are not going to do, and not only because that could fail very easily.

If all of Iowa are different flavors of this...

Then, this is out of our scope, to be perfectly honest. We need shrinks, we need a good place to keep them, we need time, and for now, we have none of that.

I hate this, but we can't really help them, and trying to use them is horrible, dumb, and just dangerous for everyone involved.

Following that logic, if anyone convinces me of anything, I die and get replaced by a new version of myself.

Seems nonsensical.

There's a school of philosophy that postulates that you are nothing but a moment of a person occupying a corpse of billions upon billions dead versions of yourself

Basically, that continuity of consciousness is a pipe dream

Granted, this school of philosophy doesn't entirely bring in account that time isn't discreet or, you know, continuous, for that matter, but it's out there

If you have a crazy idea there's a good chance someone already had the same one and created a school of thought around it

I'm aware we can't help them at all. I was hoping to get some information the therapists might be able to use.

If we get it, we get it. If we don't, we don't.

Why would we do that though? How does one even arrive at this conclusion? I just can't understand, please explain your reasoning (if you have time+motivation).
As the one who I believe brought up telling her it and am therefore partially responsible, my reasoning was basically to do it for the lulz and because I don't think we've said a witch name out loud before to the person who it belongs to? And also no one knows their Witch Name so it'd be something novel to bargain with? I can't account for anyone else's reasoning though.

Also Sylune is Miss Snitches get Stitches so we should leave her to stew while we talk with the more receptive of the group. In fact she shouldn't be in the first round of interrogations at all unless she knows something important.

Again.

WE WANT NOTHING RIGHT NOW!!

We have no questions to ask, no things to look for, there is no issue here that we can solve.

It would be a waste of everyones time, and a quite painful one at that both in universe and outside.

Why does almost everyone keep insisting that we talk to all these people for no gain at best, while there are highly important and somewhat timecritical things on our plate?!

Did you just like the conversation with Amy that much?!

That was kind of what I expected. With the prisoners I don't expect a lot of good info up front, that will take time, time Sabrina doesn't have.

I really hope we are only interrogating one or two more. While I am curious about what the rest of them think, lets space these out over the week. I want to get back to Madokahara I mean Mitakihara.

Let's get Nagisa a big present on the way, maybe a giant teddy bear from one of our allies? I don't know her range but having something to protect Nagisa worst case scenario is another bonus too.

Maybe people just like Pirate Lore™? Like, it's nothing to get so keyed up about. I like exploring the world building that Firn has made, but not if it really bothers folks that much. We should look at their witch names if we haven't already to know if that implies anything. I also like the idea of eventually (once things are a little more chill) using witch names as a sort of horoscope sort of thing, but with actual meaning.

[ ] Bounce after saying anything we need to address to the battle group, and briefly looking at the pirates witch names for possible clues to their nature. Possibly leaving funds for Yuki to purchase bribes with or for good behavior (maybe have some of her girls talk to the ones who are both willing to talk and whom are not mentally painful to talk to periodically).
[ ] Get Nagisa something real good as an apology gift, possibly based on her suggestion?
[ ] Get ready for dinner.

Solid vote over all, but perhaps include this:

We need some security on the weakest links, because I doubt Sabrina would take "Nagisa got eaten by <insert plotpoint>" very well.

HmmHMmmmm. Cool. Added.

Agreed. Dare I say it we should abandon ship.

You speak to Yuki alone at the same time, hurried, parallel conversation to save time. "Why, how, where, what, when. Why did they do what they did, how -by which I mean their powersets, which Sayaka will be able to help with- and if... if there are any survivors in their last few raiding locations."
"Names, and their powers - Miss Miki has their powers copied," Oriko says. "I'm attempting to trace their path, but it's... difficult going, and they're unsurprisingly uncooperative on that matter."
"Amy was quite happy to tell me about their methods," Yuki says, her expression grim. "That is to say, they force the girls of territories they occupy to hunt or steal for them, keeping the others as hostages. And they're forced to hunt until they don't come back."

"I concur," Oriko says quietly. She appears to have drifted over, eavesdropping on the conversation. "Neither Miss Misaki nor I have been able to find any... survivors, other than those we already rescued in Mandalay."
Eh... grapevine," Amy says, shrugging. "I'm not sure specifically where we got word of you, actually! But it was all we were talking about for a while, once the rumour got around. If we could get you on our side, we'd be set for life! And now that I've met you, I can see why."

"Er, right," you say, blinking. There's a lot she's not telling you, you can tell that much. And yet she is happily chatty, which you suppose is a plus, but you feel oddly uncomfortable for some reason. "What did the grapevine say?"

"Oh, you know, super-strong girl popped up, with the ability to cleanse Soul Gems for real," Amy says. "In Japan, for some reason, and apparently she was pretty inexperienced."

That's... deeply suspicious, honestly, and if that's the whole of what they knew. It sounds exactly like what an Incubator might inform others of. And you're not entirely sure whether Amy's being completely honest with you, either, but if she is, that tidbit alone is a lot to consider.

Looking back, our questions have been answered for the most part. What we're missing are:
- the other reason Iowa wanted to go to Japan besides going after us (which Amy clammed up on)
- how word of us reached them, which we already sooooort of know the answer to.
There's no survivors that we know of so the when and where of their trajectory doesn't reallyyyy matter.
The Other Reason might be important, but our best bet is to squeeze Perró for that information and that will take time, unless we're willing to just pluck it out of her head or something which will take no time at all. Either way, interacting with her right this moment isn't needed.

Pirate Lore isn't urgent and wouldn't tell us much beyond who might be a little harder to redeem, which I don't care much for at the moment. Let's just gush over our friends and then go on our way.

I'm going to agree that now is the time to leave them, deal with the rest of the shit on our plate, and see what happens when they're left to stew for a bit. We have no time and in the absence of a pressing need for intel we shouldn't be making the time.

I get that it's frustrating but our biggest flaw is micromanaging and given how busy we've become it's time to start dialing it back.

Especially if it starts cutting into our Nagisa time like this. Rudest part of the whole mess.

If we can have more slice of life by delegating, I'm all for it.

Yeah, I'm not very big on the whole Brainwashing for the Greater Good trope.

Moving back to the topic of a group name, how about Evil's Bane? Cause let's face it, we kind of come down like our hammer on Witches and rogue Meguca.

- the other reason Iowa wanted to go to Japan besides going after us (which Amy clammed up on)
...taking down a highly famous meguca that has been holding the city by herself for 10+ years? Probably shadowrunning, but it read like this to me. Maybe "recruiting" the power copier?

Also, agreed with @Kaizuki , this is worrying, even if it's just Bunnycat doing it's thing.

That reminds me, I think I know exactly how the captain expected to recruit us:

"Join our crew or your precious blonde girlfriend gets it."

Better, but why post the new one twice?

Edit:

Threaten both a veteran meguca as well as the new powerhouse in town? Unless they have mindcontrol, they are idiots (the latter is far more likely).

They most likely had planned to take Mami out first, then use her as a bargaining chip.

They also probably had no idea exactly what we could do with the grief we siphoned out of soul gems, they most likely thought Mami would be the biggest threat they would need to deal with.

Really, their biggest mistake was forgetting that any Meguca capable of properly cleansing grief is going to be able to call on large numbers of Meguca in the event of an attack.

Mob-style, feudal-style, what Sabrina's actually done, doesn't matter, a grief cleanser has the means and every incentive to build a dense web of obligations they can call on.

This is actually starting to ring some alarm bells for me.

...

Well, eh. Rather, more like I'm starting to get the impression that somebody is doing something to prevent people from snitching, as it were.

... That probably means getting someone to snitch is worth something. Hm. Amy thinks it was grapevine, which is a load of shit, but if anyone knows anything it'll be the captain, and I think I'm at the point I'd like some answers on that. If we can't bait answers out of her we shouldn't bother with the rest, honestly, but... I think it would be worth poking at. For, like, a fraction of a vote.

[] Grief seeds: equal division is good for the moment. There'll be a point when it will stop making sense, but until then. Just don't give Kyubey any of them, it's completely pointless when you're going to be next door in the near future.
[] Retcon having someone videotape Sayaka showing off.
[] Go meet with the captain.
-[] She understands she was used, right? That she was tossed at you, fire and forget style. Kyubey didn't even try to tell her how dangerous you were -- otherwise she would have known better than to expose herself the way she did.
--[] Poke at that a bit. See what intel you can get.
[] Talk to Iowa in general via sound piping as per last go around.

Anyway. Side note. What the fuck, people. If you're interested in talking about controlling other people or depowering other people, go talk about it in some other PMAS thread that doesn't exist. We don't need or want that, and yes I'm speaking on behalf of past messages from Firn here.

Sounds like some lines of interrogation we could give to Yuki through text, if she hasn't thought of those already. No need to worry about this. If anything, the best thing would be to work on further solidifying our power here, and finding people who we trust who are also willing to wield our power for us.

I'd like to note that technically no votes have been cast because some x's are missing in the brackets.

If this was done on purpose, ignore me.
