I'd feel happier if we could weave in a little action on Homu. If we're wary of having her try out new ideas in front of all these people, fair enough, but we can still start putting ideas in her head. Maybe… something like:

[X] Ask Homura if she can spare some ammo that fits our Obrež. We want to try enchanting it to give it more punch.
[X] Kaizuki

I'd feel happier if we could weave in a little action on Homu.

ETA to massive, entire-votes-consuming action on Homu is 1-2 updates to start of Iowa fight then hoooooooooopefully 1-3 updates of fighting Iowa and then I am literally going to cut us off before we start the trip home to timestop and drop 1-2+ solid votes of Homusocial. This takes direct priority over everything that's any less urgent than Iowa.

It's not the same, I know, but it *is* why I'm disinclined to look at it here.

Minor note: It's not impossible to have mostly-private conversations during the flight over if you want to, simply by splitting off subsidiary flight platforms with the people you want to talk to (or indeed, to enable private conversations1).

1With the caveat that you'd have to deliberately ignore picking up on those conversations since, y'know, Grief. But that is a thing you can do.

That said, I am hoping to actually get going properly next update. :V

And Mika? Since she's in the area and wants to go?
Uhhh...
"So," you say, pivoting your chair to face your friends. "First things first, rough itinerary: We're going to pick up Mika, Noriko and Akemi, then head over to Fukushima to collect them, drop Miss Akiyama back here in Mitakihara, then off to Kasamino to pick up the Pleiades."
(Which needs to be fixed to include Kyouko, but I'll get to that. :V)

Iowa first. Exposing the secrets of the universe to Homura after.

*Hugs firn tho*

Yeah, let's get to smashing Iowa.

The Obrez is a fucking terrible weapon. It is a gangster's weapon--concealable and relatively light, and packs a decent punch at short range. However, if you want to hit anything with anything resembling accuracy, you are better off with a goddamn pistol.

The Obrez is what happens when you take a full-length bolt-action rifle, chop off 3/4ths of the barrel--including the front sights, which are kind of extremely important for aiming--and cutting off some of the stock, too. The result is a gun with a bad muzzle flash, bad recoil, horrible accuracy, a bad rate of fire, horrendous ergonomics (which is more than just comfort when you're talking about a gun--a gun with terrible ergonomics can be both difficult to aim and difficult to control), paltry magazine capacity, and no sights. The only reason it was an attractive option in any way at all when we were first asking for it was because we didn't have a pocket dimension to carry stuff in, and thus had to get something extremely concealable but still packing more of a punch than a pocket pistol...and it was still a bad choice even then, because one of Homura's Desert Eagles would have been smaller while packing more of a punch, having a faster rate of fire, and being far more accurate.

In that vein...

[X] Vote in abeyance
-[X] Ask Homura for an M4 Carbine and some spare magazines to replace your extremely impractical--but admittedly cool--Obrez.

Since we know they have some kind of anti-magic on their team, and having a good non-magical ranged option might be very useful to have in a pinch.

[Q] Ask Homura for a Colt Single Action Army
-[Q] Upon crashing Iowa's party: "This is the greatest handgun ever made. The Colt Single Action Army."
--[Q] *Enough gun spins that the megucas think they're watching an episode of Beyblade*
---[Q]"Six bullets. More than enough to befriend anything that moves. Now I'll show you why they call me... "Witchgirl".
----[Q] *In true Ocelot fashion use their confusion over the connection between "Witchgirl" and revolvers to steal their soul gems*

Right, I still want to go over Kai's Homura thoughts, but at this point I should just post the vote response.

I feel this is harsher and less kind than how I actually want to come across, but I'm not sure how to be both certain and gentle in delivery.

That one's from the abeyance, not me. @The Phoenixian you wrote the abeyance iirc, thoughts?
I disagree with these changes basically in their entirety; You're putting the cart before the horse.

I have issues with the proposed ROE, but even if I did not, I feel that now is not the time to discuss it. There's little point laying out the plans for the fight itself before we meet up with the Pleiades Saints. The preexisting vote is fundamentally not intended to get us further than getting to that meeting itself at the very longest. (And that's if Firn decides to run the vote longer into the flight than expected, which is his prerogative, but even so.)

There's a reason my version of that block is "goals for the flight, and not "goals for the battle." I had written up something like you have here and, IIRC, deleted it before it ever became a vote post. Everything in the expanded first block is superfluous before that point, and thus a waste of precious time that can, and must, be used to acquire and analyze information if doing so is at all possible. And I believe tracks exist for doing so.

Perhaps expansions to that principle can be made, but that should focus on intelligence, more fundamental aspects of cooperation than plans, or at the very most, broad non-generic tracks, like the Chelyabinsk thing. And even the last category only for the sake of acquiring the tools and knowledge needed to accomplish such plans. Basically, now is the time for "Actions that can be built up into other actions, and inform our overall strategy." Rather than the final plan.

On the final addition, the Yuma line, I have been under the impression and assumption that Yuma is coming with us, particularly after Sayaka chose to leave her clone here with healing powers. (A division that implies she thought that was how it would go, as I feel we'd kind of want a healer on either side of the offense/home-defense divide.) Regardless, it is my belief that Yuma's participation is entirely up to her and Kyouko's judgement, and I feel attempting to intercede in that judgement, particularly when she's more experienced and better trained than Sayaka right now, could well be seen as coddling and go... poorly.

[X] Final note to add: This isn't the time for a whole big talk, but if Oriko wants something to mull over...
-[X] Ask if Oriko has considered whether understanding others and being understood, might be more useful for attaining the trust and aid of others than any other skill or action. You believe frequent discussions with your friends in that vein are a significant factor in why her gesture wasn't necessary, among other successes.
-[X] If she, or anyone really, wants to go more in depth on that then you should talk later.
// Why yes, we are saying this with all our friends, Homura included, right there. This is for Oriko, but its not just for Oriko. Besides which, if openness and honesty are in fact the core challenge of PMAS, as @Godwinson surmises, we should take the opportunity that has been handed to us to say it publicly. Openly talking about openness is highly appropriate.

[X] Ask if Mami's sense of where to go is actively updating. Specifically, could we use it to triangulate the real world position of Iowa as we move around Japan in order to let Oriko's clairvoyance look at the region from timestop?
// Because it came up during the last couple updates, and it felt like a very useful question to ask if we got the chance.
-[X] You'd like to know how far the anti-clairvoyance/anti-magic effect extends, even if you can learn nothing else.

[x] Vote in abeyance

Fuck it, let's do this, we need our girlfriend's expertise.

Okay @The Phoenixian I want you to explain to me, in words, how this:

[X] Overarching flight goals: In the time before you arrive in SEA you need to...

Is "before we meet with the Pleiades Saints," given that the next post is supposed to take us all the fucking way to SEA:

There. The next update should be the pickup of everyone else, and finally arriving for the confrontation proper!

Like, dude, it's not like I didn't say this at the top of the vote post. I get that you must have missed it, but getting yelled at by someone who is completely missing the entire point is sorta bad, and that's leaving out you writing a whole post not recognizing that we're supposed to be voting the length to SEA.

On the final addition, the Yuma line, I have been under the impression and assumption that Yuma is coming with us, particularly after Sayaka chose to leave her clone here with healing powers. ... Okay Yuma is apparently 11 rather than 8. I learn something every day. Fine, I guess. That's at least somewhat better.

If you have issues with the ROE now's the time to talk about them, and bluntly, any issue you have with that is an awful lot more critical than anything you've been saying so far.

Breaking News: Angry Catgirl Storms into Thread, Starts Arguing with Phoenix. Details at 11.

X_X

One of my big goals atm is to tamp down on the anger that shows up in my posts far too often. Unless you're actually talking to a bona-fide genetic sociopath who gets endorphin rushes from lying convincingly, there's always some kind of reason for disagreements. In this case it's that Phoen didn't get the label on the vote as "goes to SEA", which, yes it's irritating for me given that he then went on to write all this stuff attacking my position, but come on, we've all missed a label before. It's understandable, and getting angry about it only makes productive discussion harder.

I just... Haven't quite made it to the point where I'm fully able to enact that knowledge into behavior, yet. There've been a couple days where I have been and they've been great. It's a work in progress, so, until that goes through, I can only apologize for it >_>

Sometimes, being reasonable is a bad thing.

Sometimes, being over-reactive is a good thing.

Updating vote, fairly extensively. Not all changes are highlighted. Not even most of them tbh.

[X] For yourself, ask Kirika if she can make antimagic enchantments with what you have handy. Not everyone on your side is aware of the truth of soul gems and you're going to need to be able to hold Iowa down.
[X] Ask Yuma if she'd be willing to stay and watch over MadoHito.
[X] Gather Mitakihara and head to Fukushima. Plans for the first leg, to Fukushima and back to drop off Atsuko:
-[X] You're going to need a bigger Mobile Operations Platform. Make a full on flying saucer.
-[x] Put on some music or other white noise in the background. (Take requests.)
--[X] Do something better than bland walls for the visual aspect
---[X] Do something for external viewing that doesn't get people massively irradiated en route.
-[X] Gather basic info prior to a bigger tactical discussion once you've picked everyone up.
[X] Add "telepathy the Animators and ask them if they could patrol nearish the mall" to abeyance.
[X] Go pick up Asunaro and get going.
-[X] Cook something for everyone?

[X] Overarching flight goals: In the time before you arrive in SEA you need to...
-[X] Establish clear objectives:
--[X] Primary objectives are, in order of importance:
---[X] Everybody on our side walks out of here alive at the end of the day.
---[X] The neutralization of Iowa Group's ability to conduct operations against anyone remotely associated with any of us.
--[X] Secondary objectives:
---[X] Takedown of all members of Iowa Group.
---[X] Requisition of any material assets Iowa may posses.
-[X] Establish loose but clear ROE:
--[X] If abiding by ROE means death or capture, don't die or get captured.
--[X] Directly acting to harm non-hostiles is absolutely contraindicated.
--[X] We're fighting this nonlethally for now. If and only if that ends up conflicting with primary objectives, escalation by anyone willing is on the table considering who we're up against. We should be capable of holding them securely via collaboration with Yuki. Sayaka can copy their powers, verify what they're capable of, and worst comes to worst we keep them incapacitated and go hit up Niko to help come up with some way to be sure they're not going to be a problem. We will not give Iowa a chance to take a second shot at anyone here.
//Recall that Mika expressed concern about Iowa being able to come back for her if she participated and they didn't go down. We need to make it clear that taking Iowa alive is not going to mean giving them such a chance.
-[X] Brief everybody on everything of relevance known about Iowa.
-[X] Conduct full discussion of each others' abilities, limitations, and preferred roles in order to facilitate effective teamwork against Iowa.
--[X] Question Sayaka on the plant and paper control powers she has. Are they potentially antimagic resistant, and could she use them for area control if she were to dump enough -- like, however much it takes -- magic into them?
---[X] Extend the question to everyone else who has never considered throwing around an arbitrary amount of power before. Grief seeds are awkward for use during combat. Your powers are not remotely so limited, and you absolutely have the multitasking to go with the control radius.
--[X] Generally offer your enchanted grief, if anyone feels something made from it would be tactically useful. Otherwise, stick a magic amp on anyone planning to take advantage of your cleansing for something big.

Sorry Kai, I don't see the need to tinker.

That's okay, but...

Bluntly: the abeyance was never intended to take us through to Iowa, which Firn has asked that we vote to get through to.

If I had to point to one big thing, if we take the abeyance and end up at Iowa it's not going to be clear to anyone what level of lethality is acceptable and Mika at minimum has expressed serious concerns about Iowa getting away and being able to retaliate, so there is a big potential conflict point there that we stand to walk into with the abeyance.
