Making sonic booms over residential areas is generally considered a dick move. And going all the way to space is not practical if we aren't going between continents.

Look
I'm not saying it out of spite or anything
But
This is bullshit
So don't go over Mach 1
300 m/s is still well shy from supersonic
If we round it down to hells and assume the distance between Fukushima and Mitakihara is ninety-hundred kilometers
That makes traveling time about
Mm
A little over five minutes

If we shape the platform we can have the booms cancel each other out, basis of ongoing quiet supersonic transport research.
Kyuubey should be willing to help us with that for the same reason it helped with visual camouflage.

For a more active solution, we might be able to use the fog to manually put the air back in place and hold it still after we pass it.

The following is a vote comparison... Green, Phoenixian and Redshirt agree on. Yellow is Phoenixian. Red is Redshirt. / demarcates two lines which are in the same place but differ between votes. White non-X'ed are what I'm proposing we swap over to. At the bottom, all the white non-X'ed bits will be collected into a vote and X'ed in as my vote.

[] Yuki:
-[] What's the easiest way for her to expand her reach, anyway? Building mitosis?

-[] Does Yuki know if anyone in Sendai or Ishinomaki might be witchbombed? / In any case, that's all.

Phoen is right about this. One liners like that are free actions.

[] Yuki:
-[] What's the easiest way for her to expand her reach, anyway? Building mitosis?
-[] Does Yuki know if anyone in Sendai or Ishinomaki might be witchbombed?

[] During the flight home / During the flight home, contact:
-[] Nadia:
--[] Ask for a contact method that won't wake her up as our time zones desync. Text, email?
--[] Ask for more info on the Murasaki Shrine Maidens. You might want to contact them later today to schedule a meeting.

- [] What happens when you make the windows from enchanted grief?
-- [] Is it witchy?
-- [] Can it be recovered if it's an active effect that wouldn't need a trance?
- [] Feed Aurora. Pay attention to if she has any reactions, especially to the IRCs.

We definitely want to raise Redshirt's topics with Nadia. The Murasaki Shrine Maidens are potentially a group we could employ as a plenipotentiary further down the Main Island -- hand them a set of clear seeds and slap a guarantee on them and poof -- if they turn out to be the sort of people we currently understand them to be (helps other meguca). Feeding Aurora is also definitely something we want to do, but the line can probably be shortened -- if she does anything funny Firn'll tell us... Also there's no IRCs in any current version (idk what non-current versions might have) of this vote so I dunno what that's about. Testing whether altering the properties of enchanted grief in a non-trance manner (i.e., "emits light", "is fire", etc) expends the enchantment is interesting but seems irrelevant at the current time (because we have a goddamn lake of regular grief to do non-trance things with and therefore don't need to do non-trance things with enchanted grief). These, meanwhile:

- [] Contact Tohoku University: Ask for the contact info of the Tome Group, see if you can arrange a meeting with Tome.
-[] Tohoku University: Ask for the contact info of the Tome Group.
--[] Tome: Standard offer, standard spiel. Ask to meet Sunday.

Are kind of eh. SO:

[] During the flight home
-[] Feed Aurora while...
-[] Contacting Nadia:
--[] Ask for a contact method that won't wake her up as our time zones desync. Text, email?
--[] Ask for more info on the Murasaki Shrine Maidens, and on their character. You might want to contact them later today to schedule a meeting.
-[] Contact Tohoku University group: ask for contact info for Tome Group, ask if they would help you (introduction by telepathy, e.g.) arrange a meeting with Tome group Sunday where you'd give them your usual offer.
-[] If you have a moment, test what happens when you perform basic (non-trance) alterations on a bit of enchanted grief.

- [] Ishinomaki: (Offscreen) Confirm our cleansing trip for Sunday.
[] Lunch!

-[] Hug the mumi / Hug the mumu

-[] Ishinomaki: (Offscreen) Confirm our cleansing trip for Sunday.
[] Go to lunch. Meet Mami. Hug Mami. Break at the start of lunch.

As for lunch, I'm going to conclude that "we're gonna have to wreck Iowa group" should wait until after school ends, and during lunch today my current plan is to raise the possibility of employing people as a club-substitute to do administrative / other stuff, so that that idea is raised in advance of tomorrow's meeting, and also because it honestly makes a pretty darn reasonable lunch topic.

My primary concern with this vote is that introduction to Tome Group via telepathy might result in a too-long-for-single-update conversation and/or remove the purpose of a meeting anyway. On the other hand, it might be better if we made the offer to Tome over telepathy anyways. So, that's probably a site for commentary.

Re: voteing - should we encourage Yuki to do some trial and error to find other solutions using third parties? I don't know if she ever tried to transport her claimed materials before, but I think she has plenty of motive to do that now. A little shack in Okinawa sounds very tempting as a test. The consensus culture will drop her pre-fab literally anywhere she can buy a slot, for the price of no magical girl labor at all.

-[] What's the easiest way for her to expand her reach, anyway? Building mitosis? Can she experiment with third party transportation, and get back to us?

Sorry I was offline, this should be the significant response to the good work that you all have been up to:

If there's a core thread to take care of it's this: We need to set up how Mitakihara grows before it actually happens.

we can circumvent all of that by setting up a structure to grow into here and now.

"How do we grow Mitakihara in a healthy way?"

Some thoughts?

Unfortunately, it's a bit too soon to talk about integrating adults into Mitakihara's magical community, since we're planning on getting the Shizuki's help with that, but maybe we can discuss the possibility or look for competent therapists in the city in earnest.

Hell. it's not a school day (well, for Mitakihara middle school, other schools in the city may have Saturday active,) but who knows, maybe we can set aside time to track down and talk to the potentials. Having just more people in the know and part of the community in Mitakihara could also help out with the refugee situation, even if we do manage to dissuade them from becoming magical girls. It's one of those can's we kicked down the road for a while and it could help.

It is my position that we need normals in our group "yesterday." Sabrina has an attention bottleneck, and worthy persons will easily open that up. Waiting is not the right answer. The local family dynamics need to be handled in order, and it's on the way. We can, and will need to "cold call" other adults, so we should do that now, in a partitioned setting. Sabrina can cross the "expected" social lines, because she has us. Don't we think an adult agent who drives a truck is just as valuable as one who controls finances? We also need to practice onboarding, to make the critical individual offers more likely to succeed.

#####

A firm design for the future is a mighty tool. We should all make it. Madoka should shape it herself. Homura should be involved too, as we want her to open her concept of "future." Mami can add the special accents, and manage the whole process. She is an obvious choice for the charismatic leader, even if we are mostly decentralized it is correct to fill that slot, so someone else doesn't try to add it for themselves later. Given her actual importance in the world, we may have to find the safe way to have Madoka step onto the stage and lead as well.

I'm glad this was on your mind, and I would like you to consider particulars. We should compile these results into a further tab on the Day Planner.

First,
our plan should exist as goals that we postulate to the new citizens. Instead of power, I'd like a community of affinity. Ideals are the true blueprints. The projected result is more morale and higher involvement. Considering that any one girl can be specialized to an extent that breaks logistics and reason in her sphere of influence, morale is key. Tokyo would already be a paradise, if they weren't so busy struggling for "power." They are not optimally helpful. They have fear, and self interest as starting points. We should make volunteering pervasive, appealing and central. Generosity should be normal.

Second,
our plan must account for a minimum of two stages, occult expansion, followed by unification. In the curent age, we must secretly recruit people, control our presence and camouflage our assets to meet the expectations of the girls who live under the Masquerade, and postpone conflict with the Incubator. At some point, we will be ready to bring the whole world of normals into our world of magic, and we will need to be ready for that. We need to build and teach with that in mind. Today, the Incubator sets the pace, but there is a tomorrow.

Third,
Mitakihara should be the prototype city, with the intent that once universal cleansing has been cracked, we can spread our culture to everywhere. Territory must become a thing of the past, or at least just a colorful folkway for Magical Girls that live in an open world. Warlord politics is over, war over resources is over.

Fourth,
our world of Peace and Freedom requires a means for the strength of society to manifest in good acts. Our intended government must have a logical outcome that matches our intent. The function must follow from the intent. We want "a group of individuals who form bonds." Not "individuals bound to a group." If we don't bake in the freedom, the result won't last.

Fifth,
we need infrastructure, mundane and magical. In the mundane sense, I cannot overlook the evidence that there is more than one spot not being used in industrial activity. This implies we should find the less expensive land, upgrade the situation with magic, violate the heck out of zoning, and "gentrify" the Kazamino border (with an influx of Magical Girls.) We can also invent a tier of "safe house" room rentals for suitable Magical Girls where placement with an extended family / adoptive parent is the best choice. Further adult Magical Girls will eventually show up, once we demonstrate a good history. These people might agree to work with our system, and make other styles of dormitory living possible. Many sorts of disconnected buildings should come under our managemant, because geography is becoming optional. Yuki can show us how to use static teleport to best effect, and other similar powers will connect our people to the rest of the world. Essentially, our urban center will become a large academic / orphanage hub drawing in all the services a typical Magical Girl needs, and allowing for any of the particular needs any one girl requires. The difference being, it isn't supposed to "contain" us. Magical Girls often need some sort of adult agency, and the correct community will be a base from which they can reach out and use it.

Sixth,
we need a Magic facility for large persistent works, away from complicating mundane traffic yet accessible and unremarkable. Our unified world will still have a money economy, but even today we have to earn our way forward. Beyond manufacturing and resource industries, we have to hide large-scale activity such as de-witching. Big commercial footprint will let us dilute the transportation and personnel these will require.

Seventh,
prison. Our generation will see a good number of girls that run afoul of the new laws. We need to efficiently rehabilitate as many as we can, and if they can't be healed we need to keep them. It is that, or death of one type or another. This task will be more onerous than that faced by Western societies IRL, due to the isolation and selection bias of the System. Our people will need to budget labor, time, and space towards this. Our correction facilities are a make-or-break feature, just ask Oriko.

Eighth,
public service. Witches are still a thing for now, and someone must put them down. By organizing in ways the Incubator never intended, we can make this comparatively safe. Beyond this, our citizens can educate themselves to the point where they can meaningfully interact with the mundane people who keep the city running, making our city vastly more efficient and nicer. Utilities, justice, ecology, medicine, entertainment, part-time jobs for Magical Girls should be a big deal! It will have to be secret prior to unification, but a better city is only better if that applies to everyone.

Ninth,
we want a "flat" society, rather than a hierarchy. No more than three levels. (Mami and Madoka)-(leadership posts)-(citizens). Universal social mobility as a fact. Cogs are the building blocks of a machine, but Magical Girls are suited to Wishes. Room to find their own balance is required, conformity and frustration not so much. Volunteers are more powerful, if the duties are not drudgery, but accomplishment with attainment.

Tenth,
a good answer for every situation requiring us to bring normals into the Masquerade. There is a need for therapists, and perhaps other specialist people as we go forward. Economic activity requires cooperation. More important than either, those girls with a family need a chance to alter their family rather than lose them. Mostly, the Masquerade is there to hurt us. The only purpose it serves regarding "stability" can be substituted by our plans. I propose building our accomplice population until a critical mass is reached. At that point, Magic will become an "open secret." Becoming a public fact will be easy after that, and there will be no upheaval.

A literal structure to grow into would be nice, though. The way we housed Shiogama is not scalable or sustainable.
We buy Warehouse-kun, and build a wonderful apartment block on the site - in a slight rotation away from the 3D common axis? Or do we find a good single-story industrial vacancy, and construct in the airspace over it to our heart's content? Optical camouflage can be a physical meta material for us, so not as much magic is required to fade it away from public view. The price of large scale magic has come down a lot, too. Sabrina can enable epic cooperation, beyond our very useful heavy lifting. A large building should take only days if we do it alone, and perhaps hours with a group. There is the possibility to get a bump from Yuki as well? If we create a reasonably scaled shell of a building, including mass and general dimension, all we need is the minimum required to allow her magic to activate. After that, she can transmute and re-organize it freely, resulting in a finished building? The basic materials are already within reach.

Or, we can buy a place already existing - as long as we deal with obscuring the fact that it seems to be a girl's dormitory. For the next month or year, we need to do that in any case. Obtaining our own institutional charter and operating a school is one way. Teleport is another.

As far as Walpurgisnacht preparations go, I intend to recruit everyone we need before the start of the final week. I suspect we'll need the time for rehearsing for the day itself.

PLEASE. YES.

Overall, however... At base, a lot depends on the effectiveness of Sayaka's teleportation. If she can, effectively, zap us to any point she's visited before, then we should world tour on Sunday,
Sayaka sends clones to infiltrate international flights at the airport. Very easy with her powers. The clone remains in the cargo or equipment areas onboard, easy because Magical Girls are vastly more durable than normals. She escapes the secure area of the other airport, and immediately teleports home. Within two days, Sayaka can get us a few toeholds around the world. In her wake, we can negotiate with the local territories, find a gap between their claims, and drop a network node. Closer to home, we have more than enough cash to buy her clone a shinkansen trip.

######

Mado and Hito on permanent retainer to do basically administration and social planning and requisitions -- that sounds like an awfully intelligent first step towards an awful lot of things.

In This Thread, we become pawns in an RTS where Madoka wins at C&C. lol!
In point of fact, Madoka can become a world savior on this route. Instead of being a Magical Girl, she becomes one of the founders of our culture of Magical Girls. Her inspiration is passed along to thousands. Everyone comes to rely on her insight. She can even become famous, once we work out the details. As long as she knows the truth of it, this may be the form of heroism that saves her? The Golden Ending will see her as an equal, but that doesn't mean she has to contract. She only needs to satisfy her issues, and her potential.

######

If you want to build the skeleton of a society before we have people to live in that society, we need to have a serious discussion about the kind of society that's going to be. More like how we handled Sabrina's last name than a normal vote.

Yes. How do you wish to start? Would everyone write out a long-ish form of their thinking, prior to the back-and-forth?

If we shape the platform we can have the booms cancel each other out, basis of ongoing quiet supersonic transport research.
Sabrina should be able to solve this issue in under an hour, given that she can literally feel the forces involved while changing the geometry. We just need to go out to sea for a little noise making session. Given that we should be practicing some weapon abilities on a scale not suited for polite company (but fine for Walpurgisnacht) we could combine trips.

The question is, if we break travel time as a limit, how will Sabrina not enter an exponential power regime? Isn't that the entire reason we haven't been teleporting for the past couple of days? lol!

Making sonic booms over residential areas is generally considered a dick move. And going all the way to space is not practical if we aren't going between continents.

Clearly, the answer here is to make a comfortable cabin in our hammerspace, store our body there, and fly around by encasing our soul gem in a chibi the approximate size of a large bullet or small cannon shell. If we're super tiny the sonic boom won't be a problem. :V (As a bonus, Figurine!Sabrina is also super tiny)

RE: "What are the IRCS about." When we feed Aurora, we feed her magic infused with our feelings of the past day or two. Last time she had a reaction to our memories after we hopped on IRC for the first time. I want to see if that's what triggered it so we have a basis to look for things she's respond positively to.

Given that your post removes carefully watching Aurora's reaction so we know when and to what she reacted. I'm going to put that back in. This wouldn't be the first time shortening a vote completely lost its intent and Firn wasn't able to capture it properly because of that.

As far as testing enchantments: There's a reason I'm looking at making a window for both whether its witchy or not and whether we can recover the enchantment is so that we can see if we can do "active" non-trance things non-witchily for free. The relevancy of it is the comfort of our friends and stealth in engagements with other meguca.

(Another follow up question is: Since it hasn't historically taken an investment of will: Does it revert to normal raw grief at the edge of our range like replacing a trance effect does, and can it be made not to?)

I was strongly under the impression we were feeding her with magic infused with hope, not the feelings of the past day or two. Moreover, the line as written is just not sensical, Yvonne. My reaction to reading the words composing it is "What the fuck?"

If you're concerned about this, then I can do better with two words.

In between times, what do you think the magic used by Dianna is named?

She's noted to be the strongest member of her group.

We haven't seen much of what she can do - just that she has steampunk aesthetics, and that she can grab Grief Seeds from her allies at a distance and teleport them to her.

My guess is that she's weaponized that black void to some degree, and can use it as a discount Sphere of Annihilation against enemies.

I am honestly astonished with how many Meguca powers can be attributed to proto-Witch Barriers.
