Now, we can probably do better and include more by going out in the morning instead of after lunch, but with the talk over the last few months of adding Kyoto, Tome, Hōzuki, Fukushima, and Nagoshima, more than doubling the number of groups and more than tripling the number of cities? Is probably too much to ask. Especially when we want a bit more time so we can actually chat and recruit and you've already been tempted to cut out Sendai because they don't need cleansing.
No.
We planned that Saturday would be spent entirely on affairs within Mitakihara and I intend to stick to that.
So, due in large part to my former (? sure feels like it) status as a constant invalid, I have tended not to involve myself in scheduling things too far ahead. IIRC, the whole "Mami has shown me how to grow as a person" thing was something I had sitting around in my notes as a "hey do this sometime" rather than even
trying to set a date for doing it beyond "eh, maybe do it on the weekend?" That was when the weekend was like a year(s) away IRL.
I do have a couple things to say here, though.
First off, the entire notion of having travel time every weekend for these cleansing trips -- it has to die in a ditch. There's a weekend 6 days before WPN and there's a weekend the day OF WPN -and- the day after.
This weekend, the travel time looks okay.
Next weekend it may very well not, as things may/not start to heat up as WPN closes in. The weekend
after that we may very well not have
any interest in going
anyplace whatsoever, although to be fair if things work out for us that's not terribly likely to
matter.
So, here's my first proposal: we've got a bloody teleporter. This weekend, let's test doing the trip via teleportation as much as possible. The travel times can die in a ditch, we can spend some extra time chatting with people if we want to, and if it works out then in the future if we need to get between cities fast, we'll know that we can rely on Sayaka for it. And if she protests, we can have some amusing dialogue where we bicker over whether it's proof of concept for security purposes or just so that we can spend more time at home with Mami.
Second. Kagoshima and Kyoto. Kagoshima is primarily interesting because Grief Controllers seem to deserve the capitalization, for one reason or another, and that sounds like it might be a Plot Element -- or not. I'm not impressed with the notion of expanding Southwest unless teleportation as a travel tool works out for us -- Kagoshima is
way the fuck away from us. Kyoto is considerably closer, though, and if the Shrine Maidens truly have someone who wished to be Yukari Yakumo then they are a potential major asset.
Overall, however... At base, a lot depends on the effectiveness of Sayaka's teleportation. If she can, effectively, zap us to any point she's visited before, then we should world tour on Sunday, minus Kagoshima -- zap through Ishinomaki, Sendai, Tome, etc, then zap down to Tokyo for our business there, fly to Kyoto, zap to Asunaro, fly from Asunaro to
Hozuki, then zap back home after that. Then on
Monday, zap out to Kyoto, take a clone with us to Kagoshima, and zap back home. Because we lose little or no travel time by
not going past Kyoto on Sunday.
Which brings me to Monday --
It'd be Wednesday, probably - Monday is for dealing with the Soujus.
Overall, I would say this is not the case. We shouldn't be bricking off all of Monday for dealing with the Soujus. Considering our options, actively looking for them would probably be a waste of most of a Monday. I can't say I actually consider the Soujus a strategic threat until after school lets out, at which point we need to not have Madoka + Hitomi exposed (would also be an awfully good idea to suggest that Homu tail Madoka in that morning, and sic a Sayaka clone on Hitomi?)... but I'm very much inclined towards giving them plenty of chances to show up on radar by themselves and get timestop'ed by Homura. If we post a Sayaka clone -- or a crow -- on every barrier in the city for that time period, that problem will solve itself, and we could get ourselves a nice harvest of seeds for various purposes after school, all while doing literally anything besides pattern searches the rest of the day. Like, going to Kagoshima.
There's one bad end Oriko predicted that we haven't been able to take care of yet and every established power and refugee in this city is one more to contend and negotiate with --- which will make it harder to change or implement anything after the fact --- when we can circumvent all of that by setting up a structure to grow into here and now. We can avoid Tokyo's whole mess by planning from the start.
There is more than just handling urgent issues. We may also have a chance to take care of some of the lingering stuff that keeps getting booted aside, Madokami knows we have plenty of it, but each one should probably be attached to "How do we grow Mitakihara in a healthy way?"
There's a lot of truth in this, and most of it really does add up to engaging Madoka and Hitomi over the matter, and potentially -- if necessary -- doing something to make a Considerable amount of money rather just the considerable amount we've been working with thus far. Setting up a formal corporation and
officially hiring everyone who is working with us would also go a long way -- as would dangling some of our capabilities in front of Hitomi's mom. "I'm capable of pulling major objects out of the asteroid belt and into geostationary orbit and here's a video of me and my girlfriend having a date on the moon to prove it" would go a long way towards securing social/monetary credit, for example. Luring people out of school would be neither desirable nor socially acceptable, but luring them into part time jobs out of their
clubs would be a different matter, and having Mado and Hito on permanent retainer to do basically administration and social planning and requisitions -- that sounds like an awfully intelligent first step towards an awful lot of things.
Beyond that I can spin up arbitrary amounts of social actions.
However, bringing this back around to the schedule.
Saturday. I can think of a
lot of very productive things we could do Saturday that we really probably
should do at some point. Formalizing a corporate entity and a bank account, and getting those two balls rolling and subsequently having a
serious meeting with Hitomi's mother, would set the floor for us doing... basically all the things we probably should be ready to do re the refugee situation, up to and including being able to delegate its administration off to other people without it being a burden beyond what would be considered reasonable. We would be in a position to ask Madoka/Hitomi -- or hire someone else and not read them in on anything except what we want done -- to acquire, as was mentioned,
literal structures, get them set up for housing, set up catering, etc etc, and meanwhile rely on Sayaka clones with clear seeds for cleansing if we
absolutely had to do other things for one plot critical moment or another.
Sunday. We should do what I said about the cleansing trip, and we should date Mami. If Sayaka's teleportation doesn't work out for us, then IMO we skip Kyoto on Sunday and visit Kyoto + Kagoshima on Monday.
Monday. We have Sayaka stake out the city's barriers, leave the city to go to Kagoshima and Kyoto if we didn't visit Kyoto on Sunday, sic Homura on the Soujus if they show up, and emphatically avoid pattern searching the city for an entire day. Also we don't let Mado/Hito run around on their own (or rather, without a basic tail, anyway).
Edit: it's been brought to my attention that Yukariguca isn't with the Shrine Maidens. The Shrine Maidens have Useful Powers (TM) instead, and it was said by Nadia that they are kind and help others. All of those traits make them a very attractive contact for us.
