Homura's transition to Homucifer was, Word of InuCurry, the moment Homura realized she was homosexual and that she wanted more with Madoka than for her to simply be happy, but to be the one making her happy.

That's a very valid point.

[x] Wind down for the evening.
-[x] Make sure Mami knows not to discuss Homura's past without privacy measures. You want QB to know as little about this as possible.
-[x] Along with Mami, extend Homura an open invitation to come talk to us - talk to her friends - whenever she wants.
-[x] When we beat Walpurgisnacht, together, we'll throw Homura a bigger party than she's ever dreamed of.
-[x] Ask Homura if she wants to go to the mall with you and Mami on the weekend - you want to set up a bank account and buy some stuff, so ypu could go have fun together.

E: Shuffled it around so Homura knows we're taking this seriously.

One thing to ask here: Does Homura know we're going to Fukushima tomorrow, and will she want to plan around that before she leaves for the night?

I half-remember that there was something regarding that affair that she'd want to be involved in, though it may have just been that she has Rionna's body.

So the notion about marking down the birthday had two parts. First, that Homura has never had a friend around for a birthday in her entire life -- and perhaps hasn't had a friend mention her birthday in her entire life.

Second, there's implication that, as Homura's birthday is Feb 22, throwing a party for her then precludes her "disappearing" between WPN and then.

It's a poke at us -- us! Tomoe Mami, not just Sabrina Vee! -- caring about her as a person wholly outside the context of Walpurgisnacht, the loops, and being a magical girl.

-[x] Make sure Mami knows not to discuss Homura's past without privacy measures. You want QB to know as little about this as possible.

I actually wouldn't...

Mami got it. She's seen the weight Homura carries, however briefly glimpsed. I don't think an apology here would be worth anything at all -- I don't think we should apologize for what we did on Homura's behalf. If it were something to be apologized for, we shouldn't have done it, and you'll never convince me of that in a million years.

Rather, we need to thank Mami -- for what she's done and accepted, for Homura and for us.

[] After Homura leaves...

... Note the crucial distinction: we never did what Mami has. Homura never chose to share her story with us. We didn't give her a choice in the matter. She never shared her story with us.

I made the cuts I did because I felt the additions simply created too much vote for a single post.

Massive plans are very Sabrina, but before that I feel like we're not acknowledging what a huge step opening up like this is for Homura. This deserves hugs and some manner of verbal positive reinforcement.

This is a point.

[x] Vote in abeyance.
[x] Call it a day.

I think focussing on Mami and Homura's emotional states is more important than the vote in abeyance. Also: there is some benefit to keeping votes simple, but this one easily fits within 150 words. It's hardly a megavote- and cutting down on detail loses out on some of the specifics I'd like to see - in particular, our promise to keep Homura in the loop.

Speaking of which:
One thing to ask here: Does Homura know we're going to Fukushima tomorrow, and will she want to plan around that before she leaves for the night?

I half-remember that there was something regarding that affair that she'd want to be involved in, though it may have just been that she has Rionna's body.

So I double checked, and... I'm not even sure Mami currently knows we plan on checking on Airi tomorrow. We only settled on the date while en-route to Tokyo, and after quickly flipping through the story-only thread I can't see anywhere that we told anyone about it. So, uhhhhhh... let's fix that?

I uh

I think I convinced myself

I do like a lot of your suggestions, but I'm not sure about spending 15 minutes in a trance to make a privacy sphere unless we actually need to? Although, we do know of the enchanted grief method, which lets us stay conscious...

Here's my revised vote. I remain open to suggestions.

[x] Keep comforting Homura as you wind down for the evening.
-[x] She can come to you and Mami -to her friends- whenever she wants, to talk about whatever she wants. We'll keep her secrets from Kyuubey.

[x] Before Homura leaves, inform her and Mami of your rough plans for the weekend.
-[x] You'll be heading to Fukushima tomorrow morning to check on Airi's condition.
-[x] Ask Homura if she wants to go to the mall with you and Mami Saturday - you want to set up a bank account and do some shopping, so you could go have fun together.

[x] After Homura leaves...
-[x] Thank Mami. Express your utter joy with how she helped Homura. She Made A Difference, tonight.
--[x] KISS HER. NOT ON THE CHEEK. KISS HER.
-[x] If she has any questions about all this, you'll answer them.
-[x] Propose inviting Homura to a sleepover tomorrow.

[x] Homework?
-[x] Otherwise, just relax, and leave the IRCs for morning.

150 words exactly.

Basically, kiss de girl.

Ahhh fuck right. Point. Only... Hm. Idk. I think we could stand to burn the enchanted grief on it. The extra specificity is waaaant. But eh.

We'll keep her secrets from Kyuubey.

Just delete those two words lol.

after all of this is over
we have to throw homura the biggest birthday party in the history of birthday parties
got to make up for those twelve years somehow right?

god I'm actually like, this isn't like the normal hope or feeling like, oh they are going to get through this one. or like we have a shot

no we are going to win, we are going to heal, we are going to survive and thrive. even if the is against us we are making it. we are already making it, to the point that we are able to plan for the future in earnest, not just as an if or even when, no we are going to make it. we are all going to make it through this
just this once, nobody has to die

... I've made a mistake

Coming back to PMAS means I'm at the mercy of the update cycle again

I DONT WANNA WAIT A WEEEEEEEEEK NOOOOOOO

Yeah I wanna comment but I can't yet but actually I think I'm a lot better mentally. I'm especially happy that I'm no longer fucking obsessing when Redshirt boils something I wrote down, like I spent three entire fucking years doing EVERY DAMN TIME AAAAAAA

Ahem

Keep calm and kiss the girl ok

Damn straight.

Also, I don't know if this is widespread knowledge yet, but Magia Record has an English release now! ...My phone's barely big enough to hold it.

-[x] Thank Mami. Express your utter joy with how she helped Homura. She Made A Difference, tonight.

Hmmm...

So, after showering on it, I do think this has meaningful differences with what I'm saying... But I'm not sure if it matters...

So here's the thing. Mami helped in two major ways. Tonight, she listened to Homura and accepted her. It was very helpful, but also very simple, and I think that if just that is presented to Mami, there'd be an element of "well, anyone could have done it."

And it's true. Sayaka could have listened to that and accepted Homura. We, uh, we've basically said as much, even IC.

But before that...

The second key point I was making with this was that it was through Mami's actions that Homura came to have someone she was willing to share her story with.

Because Homura? Didn't decide to share with Sayaka.

Fact is, she didn't decide to share with anyone but Mami...

And... While it's true that Mami accepting her is undoubtedly the most important part of the whole thing, it's also the case that getting Homura to be willing to share at all was the hard part. That's the part that is making me vote to kiss her over all of this. That after all this time in the loops, in spite of circumstances others would have taken issue with -- the blatant secrecy, etc -- Mami overcame (with some help, yes, but I'll remind you again that Homura ain't telling anyone else right now) Homura's unwillingness to share her story.

That?

That is so fucking helpful.

God I have to figure out how to tldr this... OH

TLDR: if Mami wasn't here, we wouldn't be seeing Homura sharing her past with someone else right now, we just wouldn't be seeing it at all. And THAT -- THAT is something worth kissing her over.

... But I'm not sure that ends up being accurately conveyed by the boiled down version... Although it's not like we only want to express thanks for [you accepted Homura] or [you got Homura to share this with you]. We want to express thanks for both, because the importance of the two together is what makes this such a big deal.

...

Nah, that's heresy :V

Anyway lmk what you think when you're awake redshirt <3

I'll be on a plane tho so expect some delay tomorrow.

...

Damn.

Homura hasn't celebrated her birthday in 12 years.

And no one has ever thrown her a party. Ever.

No one has ever celebrated the fact that Homura was born.

Fucking goddammit I'm crying.

Hey now! The hospital workers might have! We're not totally hopeless here! Probably...

Anyway yeah that's uh. One reason I wanted to do that.

yeah, in a real way that's what has stuck with me the most and the most consistently ever since I made the connection that 100 loops of 46 days each makes just over twelve years
that's twelve whole years without a birthday, twelve years without Christmas or summer or anything. no celebrations or anything that's just for her, nothing to look forward too other than the possibility of saving madoka.
she has almost spent more time replaying and going through the same hellish month and a half then she has existed outside of it. she likely barely remembers a time when it wasn't march or april
the most sobering thought is that homura very well might not know how to deal with simple things like the true and unhindered passage of time anymore

Indeed. Good thing we are in a solid clinch right at this moment, so we should just do that!

This would play to best ratings upon waking up? Since this is a capital V Victory, repeating the tale tomorrow for emphasis has got to be right. Please bring this back for the morning vote?

Given the condition Homura has worked herself to, and the world-integration Mami is running in her subconscious, I want to try improving the cool-down period. This conversation is about connecting Homura and Mami; the nice anecdote that wasn't central to the story can come out now, as a coda. Homura as a veteran, is still and always has appreciated Mami as a heroic ideal. Mami isn't Madoka, but they go all the way back - and the proof is in Homura's specialization as a gunslinger. Since no weapon was native to her, she had to build her proficiency by hand, from nothing. Her first choice was pipe bombs as grenades, but she backtracked to fit in with her friends. The root cause of her final selection is probably emulating Mami. I think making this a conversation aids in bonding, too.
Remember that these bonds may be the lifeline that keeps someone from witching. Always support bonds; as the cliché about readying the knife for combat went, "it's never too sharp."

[X] In Timestop
-[X] Warmly appreciate Homura's courage and resilience in reaching out to Mami. Be proud to share her world.
-[X] Ask Homura to tell the story of how she came to use firearms. Then, if she didn't already, prompt her to explain why.
-[X] Along with Mami, extend Homura an open invitation to come talk to her friends - whenever she wants.
-[X] Mention that Homura's past and Wish are things she always keeps private ...

We just completed a very exceptional exchange, and 'normal' will be back after the break. No birthday talk yet. Of course Homura wouldn't react badly, but she is likely unable to really react well. In general, I'd like talk of parties to occur in a more normal frame of reference. We just held her through a session where she was causing herself pain, and toughing it out. Along with her constrained worldview, the party just won't make a splash yet. We'll get there, and we will throw her celebration, but I don't see the opening to tout that as a pledge today. Mami remaining sane was her cake and ice cream. If Homura could be lighthearted, she would dance all the way home tonight. This reunion was about as far as we go tonight.

No mention of Walpurgisnacht for the next five minutes, perhaps? We do need to set her up for a time horizon beyond that, soon. In this minute, she is putting all her power into relationship abilities. Don't make her split that with other big items, right now. Her benefit will be greater if we let this sink in by itself. Walpy's name is going to get her into the wrong mood.

Here, emotions are power. If we achieve anything like my vision, Homura will never lack for community affirmation again, as a hard fact. Our whole city will eventually experience her this time, and she will have a fair share of the attention. In the near term, it seems best to build our Magical Girl sub-culture with lots of redundant social support. This includes every possible excuse to social anything. There will be birthday parties. The Pleidaes Saints have their clubhouse, Fukushima has their arrangement, and we are already throwing lunch and dinner parties like confetti. I invite you to codify our steps to invent a functional - and scalable - system for the girls of our city, or every city. Kyuubey isolates, and we are wise to it.

As far as her atemporalization? Her friends will lead by pleasant example, and that is invaluable. For another thing, we are getting pros to help. For everything else, we have Madoka. With her as Homura's therapy buddy, "it" can be healed. I can't wait for them to sit under the first snowfall later this year.
