if our soul wasn't on our person I would expect us to either 1) not have a soul gem or 2) have our soul gem be more transparent than a clear seed. what I'm getting from my read on it is that we don't have a human soul, we got something else instead. something soul adjacent but that doesn't count as a "soul" to her powers
or maybe its like, the thread already has a claim on sabrina and so its
she-who-must-not-be-named: "you're soul belongs to me griefbender!"
sabrina: "my soul belongs to the collective"

I mean, there's already one canonical Magical Girl who seems to have astral projection powers, and it doesn't do anything weird with her Soul Gem. Nevermind that any weirdness with our soul is an act of God.

Do you have to be a killjoy about everything? We just got done having a huge shitstorm. I do not care how hard you think we need to be, we do not need more negativity; there are better ways to argue your point than to post depressing shit in response to attempts by the QM to lighten the mood and better times to do it.

^That's a sad Mami, not a bad Mami.

Granted, 'tis a Very Sad Mami, and a sign that somebody somewhere fucked up, but still not a bad Mami.

Also, why
More seriously, it's because Mami has serious issues of her own and putting her on a pedestal isn't doing her any favours.

Mami is Mami is Mami.
By which I mean we need to make effort to see Mami in a positive light and encourage her to do the same as Mami is Sabrina's girlfriend, eh?

But that's one of those "dissociation from the character you're playing" while "acknowledging the PC's view on things" issues I've already made myself sick by talking about.

( Also lol, for me this page is morbidly funny for some reason. Maybe I've read too many mangas with yandere characters. Maybe. )

This is a ridiculous argument. Do you really think that anyone in this thread thinks that Mami doesn't have problems or that posting nice pictures of her would make them mis-estimate her health or stability or confidence? There's a time to be realistic about things, like when we're about to get into a fight. The rest of the time, this kind of thing is the difference between a healthy relationship and one where everyone involved spends their entire life suffering. It's like when you hug your SO and say "You're the best. <3". Yeah, okay, they may not be literally the best thing in the entire universe, but that's not the fucking point. The point is that you're supporting them emotionally and dismissing their fears and worries. Given what Mami's issues actually are, and how relationships actually work, this is exactly what we should be doing.

Negativity is the spice of life; it keeps you grounded.

Weird, I can't seem to get the Tetris theme out of my head for some reason.
:^)

Mami is so fucking grounded that she's eight hundred meters below sea level and suffocating. She needs more negativity the same way a depressed teenager needs a length of rope and a manual on knots.

Edit:
"Great," Mami says, beaming. She passes teacups around the table, carefully balancing one on Sayaka's forehead. Sayaka goes cross-eyed staring at the cup, and you go misty-eyed staring at Mami, because Mami being happy and confident enough in her friendships to tease someone is amazing.
Just fucking read that. Does Mami sound like someone who needs to be criticized to correct their self-evaluation? Does she sound to you like someone who would react to criticism by forming a more accurate self-evaluation? Does she sound like someone who thinks that they're better than they really are? Does Sabrina sound like she's ignoring Mami's problems? Does Sabrina sound like she has an inaccurate estimate of Mami's abilities or state of mind? Does Sabrina sound like she's in danger of making Mami think she's better than she actually is? Do you think that criticizing Mami would do anything good at all? Or are you just

Chill out, friend; I think you're missing the point. Our posts affect Sabrina directly, not Mami. I think what Redshirt was trying to say (correct me if I'm wrong, Red) was that we as Sabrina should not get into the habit of thinking of Mami as flawless and place her as some untouchable entity on a pedestal.

Point made but Veb chill please. We need less toxicity in the thread. Not more.

We as Sabrina should not get into the habit of thinking of Mami as flawless and place her as some untouchable entity on a pedestal.

We don't put her on a pedestal. We're aware of her flaws. I'm aware of the flaws of my friends. Does this mean I constantly think of them? No, I don't. It's unneeded. I think of them when they're relevant.

We don't need to think of Mami's flaws all the time. She's in a better state because of our awareness and acknowledgement of them at the right time. This doesn't mean every second of our time should be spent thinking of them. Sometimes people just want to hang out and enjoy their friends without thinking of everything wrong with them and-- you know what? That's okay. That's normal. You wouldn't want your friends thinking of all your flaws all the time.

Can I ask why the fuck we're even arguing about this?

Legitimately.

I don't think there's anyone on this thread who believes we need to somehow exacerbate Mami's issues or literally treat her as a living goddess who can do no wrong. That role is reserved for Madoka, after all.

So, after we assume these two obvious things, what remains? What is the point? What are people actually trying to achieve by continuing this increasingly vitriolic discussion?

Please explain.

Of course Sabrina's aware of Mami's flaws- they're why she hasn't told her everything. But, obviously, it's just fine for her to think very very highly of her given she's her girlfriend. People tend to think highly of SO's.

this whole thing started because someone said that mami is always the best and someone brought up everyone's favorite block stacking game, like, I don't even see why we need to be aggressive. I thought it was funny, in a darkly comedic kind of way, like head jokes
