Sure you can - the concept of a philosophers stone scales down fine to just a single soul. Heck, Edward explicitly heals himself using part of his own soul as fuel by exploiting that principle.
Yeah, and Markus Velafi burns parts of his Tiefling soul to cast eldritch spells from beyond the pale, what's that got to do with the price of tea in china?

making a physical stone that appears to break the laws of alchemy itself requires a lot more fuel then a single soul.

even if this did affect and bleed into her thoughts, so what? people have weird, sometimes dark, sometimes deeply messed up thoughts all the time and just keep going about their day like normal, I know I have a lot of those thoughts and they never go anywhere other than my head for a few minutes and then I forget about them

Yes, but this doesn't make them pleasant, nor something the average person wants provoked.

If you could avoid them, you would. We can help Sabrina avoid them.

I want to point out that Redshirt Army quite expressly posted that in response to my comment, and is very much aware that I do not respond well to "tetris meme" references.

It was a very personalized "Fuck you" that neatly evades SV's moderation. Like a great deal of the other shit he pulls here.

Then can we address that rather than stomping all over everyone who don't realize that the Tertris meme was apparently more then a bit of dark humor inside the commentary on posting Mami pictures the GM started?

Like looking over the events

  1. Script mentions GM's post is a good Mami
  2. Godwinson posts all Mami's are good Mami's
  3. Redshirt posts Tetris
  4. Redshirt gets asked why
  5. Redshirt replies with meme version of 'cuz'
  6. Veb asks if Red (I assume) has to be such a killjoy and we don't need more negativity
  7. Demonths mentions Negativity is the spice of life
  8. Veb then VERY vocally (but resonably) points out Mami does not need more negativity in her life, at all
  9. Mura tells Veb to calm down
  10. Veb Refuses
  11. Conversation is now about the above (items 8 on)
My basic analysis points to the fact the thread actually was calm...ish.

@Vebyast acted emotionally but not totally unreasonable given the picture does, in fact, involve suicide, but no one else was operating with malice either (Red aside perhaps given the above quote). Others were just thinking it was a bit of black humor due to the tetris meme etc.

So can we all just calm down and move on? No one was trying to cause trouble.

Okay. I was not aware of any sort of rift between you and Redshirt. I don't follow this thread like I use to.

It doesn't really change anything though.

Be kind to each other.

It's right there on the bottom of the thread. Straight from the QM himself. Guys, try to be more excellent to each other. Please?

Sufficient incompetence constitutes malice.

Veb, none of them, Redshirt aside for posting it perhaps (I don't know the history there), meant any harm. In the larger context of the PMMM fandom with the tetris meme they could easily see it as dark humor and move on. No one actually disagreed with your post - they just wanted you to calm down.

If they KEPT making light of Mami going tetris after you posted we would have an actual issue. But none of them did, people are going to view things differently. Some people here will be able to take Tetris meme as some dark humor to go along with the Mami picture responses because in the end Mami, PMMM, PMAS, etc is all just a story to them so they can make jokes about shit they likely would not do if any of this was real.

They made the joke, you objected to the joke, they stopped. I can't expect anything more than that from people. To not allow people from a huge range of background to make mistakes when interacting with each other would stifle normal conversation.

I fully expect people to attempt basic decency - but I don't expect them to know every single social landmine in a thread like this. I just expect them to stop when asked to stop.

If this is such a sensitive matter to you that the previous events are incompetence to the point of malice then I think you need to talk to those specific people who acted as such privately, possibly with a trusted mediator/referee.

I mean we had people from a dozen different backgrounds on my ship. One person's idle joke was another's insulting stereotype. We dealt with three ways. First either tell them to stop, or get someone else to ask them to stop. if they refused, or it was really terrible - then the chain of command got brought in.

If you truly think they we're malicious - talk to them, get someone else to talk to them, or get a mod.

But for the thread as a whole, can we just move on?

Addendum to your recounting of the sequence of events: Redshirt Army's immediately previous post in the thread was to quote me talking about how we should be more mindful of the effect our posts have on each other and the quest as a whole which makes his posting that image not only deliberately disruptive, but also by his own admission a personal Fuck You.

So, yeah, no, "no one was trying to cause trouble" is straight-up bullshit.

I think you all need to chill, can we all chill? From where I'm standing literally none of you are being reasonable. This is a stupid argument, you are arguing about stupid things.

Please stop. You do yourselves and this thread a disservice by continuing this ridiculousness.

I was specifically discounting Redshirt in my commentary - for exactly that reason. He's doing his own thing it seems.

EVERYONE ELSE it seems was just going with the meme's.

As I said - if the issue here is Redshirt posting the tetris meme in the first placing KNOWING that it would cause shit then address that. Rather then getting caught up in Veb's reaction to Red's post and everyone else reactions to Veb's reaction. Edit: This is directed to everyone in general not just you.

Edit: So like I said, lets move on. Address those who need to be addressed privately, since at this point its less a thread wide issue and more an issue between specific posters.

They're not quite identical, probably because the underlying metaphysics isn't exactly the same, but they're very clearly sourcing from the same general concept, yes - and I'd expect an alchemist to be able to do something with a soul gem in a hypothetical crossover.
if anything, I would have to day that a soul gem is more efficient than a philosophers stone, given that it seems to unlock someone's abilities and allows them to go far beyond what a single soul philosophers stone should be able to accomplish, and they aren't rendered basically brain dead from if

honestly I actually don't mind my darker side of myself. I used to hate that part of me but honestly it was super unhealthy, trying to avoid dark thoughts is extremely damaging in the long term, and is a big part of why I lost a huge part of my teenage years to anxiety, paranoia, and self hate
do in other words, trying to prevent such thoughts is much much worse than anything else

Whether it was just a joke in particularly poor taste or an attempt to get someone's goat, interpersonal drama between users really belongs exactly anywhere except this thread, and we really need to stop having a shitstorm every time this happens.

Of course they bother Sabrina: more than half of this thread can't take a joke. It's why Sabrina is so controlling in the first place: she's a reflection of us.
He's referring to the time where a shitstorm surrounding someone bringing up the hypothetical possibility of Witching Homura physically incapacitated Sabrina, vomiting and all. Since then, people have taken a rather harsh position on these kinds of tonal/mood disruptions. He shouldn't have done it, and it's contingent on the rest of us to stop carrying on with it.

To that end: Have we finished hammering out the schedule for the rest of the evening after dinner? The thread tends to sprawl out in a way that periodic refreshers are good.

[JK] Let Mami make all the choices for the day
-[JK] Sayaka too if Mami can't make the choice for some reason
-[JK] Homura is also a suitable choice maker.
-[JK] OH we could go to school for a day
--[JK] NVM thats a horriable idea

*Sighs* so this is what I come home to.

Edit: So like I said, lets move on. Address those who need to be addressed privately, since at this point its less a thread wide issue and more an issue between specific posters.

Look, this is why we have the report button. Doesn't matter how much any one of us likes someone personally, if they're over the line it's time to use it.

So report them all: God will know his own.

I am. Firn has done it before. This situation is around that sort of severity. There's nothing to say he won't do it again.

She shouldn't have done it.

Why not? Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. I'm trying to stop it from being repeated.

If everyone is calm now, I would like to talk about something very important. Something that could determine the fate of the universe as we speak...

When should we have a date with Mami again?
