Hunh.
So, a few years back, when there was still a discord, we had a discussion on potential names for a hypothetical daughter of Mami and Sabrina. Of the various suggestions, one of them was "Mina," taking the last syllable from both names. On a whim, I decided to look up what it would mean in Japanese (where it would be written as either "みな" or "ミナ") and... according to Google, it means "everyone." This may have been mentioned back then, but it's been so long I forgot, besides, the conversation was never ported.
Given that we theorize Sabrina to either outright be WPN /UKG or at least be related to one of those multitudes as a terminal of WPN or the Law of Cycles, I just really found that to be very appropriate name for a descendant of hers.
This is assuming adoption does not become the preferred expression? I can see several ways we will be up to our necks in little orphan girls.
Mina strikes me as clever, because it neatly has feet in both language groups. Mami likes European aesthetics, in fact. Find other names that might be words in Japanese and a European language depending upon context?
The next choice
Of course, we want to do something... Unexpected! How about ask them about enchanting? We can start with a survey of their best skills, talk about our light hearted enchanting notions, and then swing around to the move!
Hire them. We can start up the preparation for some one of our many resource trees with their labor, but the main reasons to hire them are both to build stronger relations, and to find an acceptable way to cleanse them. Payment for service is a thing. In the absence of not-a-government agreement, we can use the loophole. We will start a part-time employment rotation, and that way we can get most girls from Tokyo to meet us on our schedule and turf. For those without convenient powers, Japan has trains to bring them to Mitakihara. For those without tickets, trains have roofs It will let us do some cleansing right away, even if we can't end scarcity all at one go.
Tokyo is a sort of "prison" run by the inmates perhaps? Or is the Chiyoda group playing us a remake of "Dark City"? Every once in a while people wake up with new memories and radically altered lives to suit the needs of the masters hidden among them? Toshimichi and her group are playing a dangerous game. They almost crashed six months ago. We need to decide what her intentions and limits are. An oppressive regime does exist, but if we open the door to something better, will they step through? The requirements are some other independent observation, which is mostly finding other groups to talk to, and a straight up interview with the girls in charge. No way I think visiting Chiyoda today is a good bet. That meeting should be over telephony. As much as the voice-only technological channel slows diplomacy, it blocks mental attacks even more.
We need to prepare. Sayaka could learn more about Umika's magic, or Niko could consult on reforming her memory device into a defensive appliance. Perhaps it projects a false mind to honeypot inbound memory magic, or implements streaming backup, to re-load original memories over altered ones continuously, just for starters. She's better at this than I am, we would have to ask. Mami has her own defenses, and we could try to learn more about her system so we have depth.
Do we want to move towards drawing Haruki into the Club? We don't know enough about his mind yet, and we need to figure him out to a fine degree before granting him the responsibility. The major benefit we could seek is to have him be our paramedic. Nobody in Tokyo is ready to call us out if there is a girl in crisis, and this might be enough to save someone.
Our simple path is to have other clandestine meetings (clandestine? There is nooo way that Kurenai was displaying fear that she might be observed breaking the rules.) (Chiyoda group couldn't ever have any sort of Seer Magical Girl to make their information gathering spooky effective.) Also, we don't know if Chiyoda is still in thrall to Kyuubey, the malware that goes everywhere.
We can stand a bit of hard language, so asking for a contact with the violence prone girls could get us answers quick. At the cost of leaving Sayaka elsewhere, both because she is getting tweaked a bit, and the bombs might be in plain view.
There could be more topics to pursue, but right now I'll think of a set of actions.
