So, 'be honest with Kyouko' is one thing... but I think we can agree to not bring up the other bombs right now?

I mean, if we say we don't have anything to bring up, it wouldn't be the complete truth... but it wouldn't be a lie... just a white lie.

:V

But really, let's just hit that witch really hard. Not in a Dissoluzione Bianca sort of hard, maybe we can practice our hammer throwing? Maybe even try to summon hammers already flying at Sufficient Velocity. :p If anyone would know about whether such a thing is possible, it'd be Kyouko.

I suggest enchanting the hammer to keep it moving at a constant speed after it's thrown. You can't go wrong with perpetual motion machines.

Maybe even try to summon hammers already flying at Sufficient Velocity. :p
Timestop! Hammertime! :V

I'd agree that we shouldn't discuss them right now, but I think we should be honest about their existence.
Something like "I'm done dropping bombs for today, but there are other things which you deserve to know but are extremely tough to handle and I'm not ready to discuss those right now. Or in the near future."

"I need to move," she grunts. "Been sitting for too long. You done dropping bombs? If y' are, we're gonna go kill a Witch. Talk on the way."
She wants to end this part of the conversation so I don't think she will press immediately on what they are. Lying about their existence here would make her trust us less when we do drop anything on her.

I'm thinking phrasing that'll let her ignore any further bomb talk for the time being if she wants.

EDIT: And then I didn't do that.

[X] Let Kyouko know you might be dropping something heavy on Sayaka today, so she might have a lot on her mind on their next session.
-[X] No more bombs you want to drop right now. Another time.

[X] On the way, ask Kyouko about the possibility of summoning your magical weapon with speed, such that it would already be shooting towards an enemy as you summon it.
-[X] Tangent: After all, they're not immobile when you summon them, but already moving at incredible speds, what with Earth's rotations... and those of the Milky Way...
-[X] Maybe it's a matter of visualization. Theorically, you could just (snap fingers) will a small version of your hammer's handle to materialize shooting at something.

[X] Hit the Witch hard, but let Kyouko hit her harder. Make sure nobody gets hurt.

[X] Whenever appropriate, compliment Yuma about her new dress.

I'd like to hear what Kyouko has to say after she's got some time to think, before talking about anything else.

And I still don't know whether we want to do anything about Yuma and her grandparents.

By the way, remember the trick Mami used that let her keep her musket still in the air, casually blocking one of Sayaka's attacks?

I don't think I commented nor do I think I saw anybody do so, so as obvious as it sounds, do you think it has to do with hammerspace?

What if part of the musket was in hammerspace? We know that meguca can't interact with each other's hammerspace, so would it be possible to 'fix' an object in 3D space by moving it 'slightly' 4Dimentionally?

Does this even make sense? The intrincacies of 4+D escape me.

It shouldn't work like that? Just like it's possible to move an object left or right without moving it up and down, it should be possible to knock a spear/musket around in 3D space without moving it at all along the 4th axis, so fixing it in 4D shouldn't do anything.

She probably used invisible ribbons of some sort to hold it in place.
Unlikely, since whatever the trick is, she was able to teach it to Kyouko.
And said she would teach us, but I think this would amount to the same thing I said. IIRC, 'invisible' Ribbons are Ribbons going through 4D space, so whether she's holding the musket with invisible ribbons or not, she's still willing it into place through... Ribbons in 4D space... her musket is also made out od Ribbons.

I'm trying to find the quote where Mami told us that magical girls can't interact with each other's hammerspaces, which was what prompted this thought, but not luck yet...

Found the quote, but it doesn't support what I was thinking.

End of this quote:
"I know what you're thinking," Mami says, tapping your nose. "It doesn't work."

"What doesn't?" you ask, smiling innocently at her.

"Teleporting yourself by putting yourself into the pocket," Mami says.

"... dangit," you say, huffing. "You got me."

"I had the same thought too," Mami says. She takes your hand, fingers gliding gently over your knuckles and stopping on your Soul Gem ring. "This becomes an anchor. You can't bring your Soul Gem with you, and... the pocket is very unpleasant to be in. And, um, I had no way to move in the real world, with just my Soul Gem, but that's different for you."

You laugh and beam at Mami. "I should have known you'd already know better than I do about this kind of thing," you say. "At the very least, I would guess I can streamline travel by reducing the surface area exposed to air, so that's nice. And probably get into smaller areas. Do you think your ribbons can connect to my, ah, pocket?"

"No," Mami says, shaking her head. Her smile turns a little melancholy. "I've tried it - you can't connect to other people's pockets."
Of course, by pockets she means hammerspace. We most definitely can put a Chibi of ourselves on Mami's pocket. :p

I wonder if what Mami is saying here is a hard rule, or just a matter of probability? If there is... hold on...
Mami purses her lips thoughtfully. "I suppose... there's nothing really preventing magic from granting infinite orthogonality?"
... For hammerspace, maybe the reason why meguca can't interact with each other's hammerspace is just because the chances of using the same slice of 3D space through the 4th dimension as each other is just about nil?

(BTW, we can probably just ask Mami how she did the thing, I know.) :V

What sounds kind of weird to me is this:
"So I found that I seem to have an effective 4-space available to me that I can actually access," you say as you walk. "And it's how you hide your teacups, right, Mami?"

"Mmmhm!" Mami agrees.

"The thing is... I didn't see anything else in there when I stuffed my chibi in there. Just my Soul Gem," you say. "I'm kind of wondering..." You wave your hand aimlessly in the air, narrowly missing a passerby. "Does every magical girl have their own 4-space?"

Which brings to mind the notion that it might be a proto-Barrier of sorts. Ugh.

Mami purses her lips thoughtfully. "I suppose... there's nothing really preventing magic from granting infinite orthogonality?"

"I kinda want to try having you ribbon and hide one of my chibis," you say. "Just to test it."

"That's a good idea," Mami agrees. "We can definitely try that at some point."

"Also," you say with a grin. "Have you ever thought about trying to use it for armour piercing attacks?"

"I have!" Mami says brightly. "It doesn't work as well as you'd think... well, it does for bypassing, ah, mundane blockages, but Witches..." Mami shakes her head. "A Witch's defense isn't really physical, you know? Trying to come at it from a different angle still means you have to fight against its magic."

"Ah," you say, and pout. "... actually, I kind of wonder how it'd work with Miss Tsuruya's enchanted buildings."

"I think it'd be a contest between your magics," Mami says. "Maybe? I'm not sure how her powers work..."

"Could be worth finding out!" you say. "Or... what about running a ribbon through 4-space to an arbitrary exit point?" You smile, and hold up your left hand with the loop of golden ribbon gleaming on it.

Faint red dusts Mami's cheeks. "Ah... I already have that," she says. "It's how I make ribbons, ah, intangible?"

"Oooh," you say. "Brilliant. Should've expected that."
If meguca can't connect to each other's hammerspaces, how could Mami possibly place our Chibi in her hammerspace? Wouldn't the Chibi be part of us, at least as long as it actually exists, possesses our magic?

:thonk:

Also, still need to try sharing hammerspace by means of Soul Snuggling. (?)

I also found this:
You take a deep breath as you sit down. "GOOOOOOOOD MORNING MITAKIHARA!" you bellow into telepathy.

"You're late!" Sayaka complains.

"Good morning, Sabrina," Hitomi says primly. "I must say, Sayaka is right."

"Well excuuuuuse me," you say. "I didn't know it was my duty to keep everyone on the straight and narrow."
And well.

*Looks at already in-motion plans to ship Sayaka and Kyouko*

I don't think anyone can really accuse us of this.

Well, we do have to worry about maintaining security. Which...

A desire for extra security implies a perceived need for extra security. An implied perceived need for extra security implies a problem. A problem is something Kyouko could go "can I help you with that" on. And of course that problem is basically the Kyubey-Witchbomb which uh yeah noooo...

Part of me wants to contingency this as so:

[] Gesture at the sphere. It's best if nobody talks about your metaknowledge (don't use that word?) outside one of these. That said, it's obfuscating what you knew and what you said about it that matters.
-[] If questioned on this: not everyone you know about is as nice as Kyouko. You have problems that you can't just vaporize, so you go around with these creepy spheres hoping they help.
--[] If asked whether there's anything she can do: <More things>

But... The trouble here is, this really isn't the time to look like we're not 100% totally fine and without serious problems...

*Looks askance at Kyouko pushing debts*

So... Well, in some ways it's a catch-22. The more we harp about it the more interesting it gets for her, I think, and... We don't want that. On the other hand, we really don't want to say nothing.

The only real answer I can see is to try to nip things in the bud.

[X] Only thing -- anything involving you knowing things that you didn't have a way of knowing doesn't leave the creepy sphere.
-[X] If questioned: you really aren't prepared to get into why right now. Suffice to say that roughly nobody else is in on it either.
[X] Listen to Kyouko while hunting
-[X] Let her do the talking, mostly. Disagree with things you disagree with, agree with things you agree with, but let her do the talking.
[X] Let Kyouko take her frustrations out on the witch. Help some. Be ready to just kill it if anything bad happens.

On the subject of grief case versus emotional baggage...

A briefcase is portable, handy and easy to carry.
Baggage tends to imply unwieldy amounts.

So while Sabrina may be carrying around a griefcase of issues, most other girls are saddled with baggage.

By the way, there's something we might want to tell Kazumi next time.

At the start of Kazumi Magica, there was a guy trying to bomb a mall. He is foiled by plot demanded serendipity, as his bomb gets mixed up with a Kazumi.

Later on, it turns out the bomb was a fake a police woman had set him up with in order to catch him and feed her own rep, but that's another matter.

This guy regrets his actions thanks to Kazumi, who vouches for him being a good guy despite the whole bomb thing, and the guy becomes a friend and supporting character.

May be a neat little mission for Kazumi, to track down and befriend this guy before he tries his hand at terrorism?
