No no, we clearly need a silver platinum ring for Oriko to give Kirika. :p

(and to inset the rings with a diamond and a citrine, for what I expect will be very obvious reasons)
Are you trying to corrupt Oriko so she become the next dark lord?

What do you mean this is not lord of the rings thread?
Well, already made one gold ring, why not complete the set?

We can simply make two sets of rings, right? Why not?

In the end, O&K are teenaged girls, it's not like they'd refuse them.

Two updates later, O&K are sporting a goddamned rainbow of matching colorful rings, one on each finger, even their thumbs got rings.

Though amongst the shiny, precious metallic rings covering their hands, one of the matching pairs of rings looks suspiciously like a whistle.

"... Why?"

"My dear Homura, 'why' wasn't the question I asked myself. It was 'why not?'"

"Why could you not see this was a terrible idea?"

A strident screech had them both flinch in auditory pain and turn to watch as Kirika, red faced, blew on her whistle ring until she ran out of air.

Homura stared at Sabrina.

"I rest my case."

"Kirika, dear," Oriko uncovered her ears, "you promised to use that power responsibly."

"Yeah, Kirika," frowned Sabrina, extending her hands towards the couple.

A small, self satisfied, almost smug smile spread across Homura's lips as she watched both Oriko and a pouting Kirika take out their whistle rings and give them back to Sabrina, who quickly had them vanish into thin air.

"Now I'm going to have to make you another set," huffed Sabrina, indignant.

The smile was quickly wiped off Homura's face, replaced by a haggard frown.

"But-"

"Maybe obsidian rings next?"

"Maybe a super white?"

"But we already got platinum. What about a candy ring?"

"Candy ring?"

"Yeah, a ring, but with some candy attached."

"You would eat the ring, Kirika."

"I would not, the ring itself wouldn't be edible."

"I still haven't tried making Grief candy..."

"For good reason. We'll take an obsidian ring set."

"Sure, I'll have them next time. At any rate, I should go. Come on, Homura."

Sabrina drags a silent Homura outside while Oriko and Kirika wave goodbye, with their hands covered in a veritable rainbow of rings.

Once outside, Homura shakes off Sabrina's hand and looks at her, face contorted into a rictus of pain and suffering.

"Why?"

Sabrina shrugs. "Why not?"

"Are they gone?"

"Yup."

"Great, we can take these off now."

O&K promptly take off all but the gold and platinum rings.

"Can't we just tell her we don't need so many rings? They're kind of clunky to wear all together."

"No, Kirika. We don't want to hurt her feelings."

"I know, we want to hurt Homura's feelings."

"Exactly."

I see your plan.

You want to spread the rings of power.

You want some of those rings to be peace offerings to meguca with which we have clashed in the past.

You want to... wait and see those meguca panic in paranoia for years on end, waiting for the time we'll make our move and try and take control of them all.

You want them to live their lives fearing, dreading that moment, scared of the rings they dare not ditch.

So the likes of Akiko, Ono, Anri, will always expect us to turn on them at a moment's notice.

And they'll wait...and wait... and wait... and we're not actually gonna try and take over their souls because duh, of course not.

But they won't believe that. :V

And, of course:

One is the Witch Queen, the actor of this poem
In Mitakihara, where coobies lie.

One Ring to save them all
One Ring to heal them
One Ring to fix it all
And to deliver unto weal, them.
In Mitakihara, where coobies lie.

EDIT: Completed the Ring Verse. Probably fucked up somewhere, but eh.

Believe folks are sufficiently distracted by the Archgoblin's promises of shiny rings and free shipping.

is it safe to come in yet?
A good way to check the general mood somewhere, is to look at what Kirika is doing.

For example, if Kirika is grinding her teeth and glaring and swinging her claws in a murderrage, that's a clear indication that you should move away.

So let's check on Kirika:

(Oriko Kirika Luminous)

\o/

The Kirika is feeling safe and happy and nuzzling her Ojou!

Chances of sudden murderblending are only around 5%, so it is clearly a good time to hang around!

Ah, but therein lies a problem.

See, it is a known fact that Oriko under observation is always smug, with extremely rare exceptions.

At first it was thought that Oriko had some sort of instinctual defense mechanism that would allow her to show herself as smug as soon as observed even if she herself didn't know she was under observation, though this was heatedly debated by those believing Oriko to simple have either extremely good perception of her surroundings, or an instinctive feeling of paranoia that would make her feel as if she was being watched at all times. For obvious reasons, that could not be tested.

However, a break through was made in one of those extremely rare occassions in which Oriko actually allowed herself to show emotion, though it is still debated whether it was real emotion or just a ploy, that is, that Oriko might have simply copied normal emotional gestures and used them to cause negative emotions on others as a social weapon of sorts.

Some credibility is due however, as these are extreme cases, such as Kirika's defeat at the hands of Mami, which caused her witching/death, something Oriko could feasibly know about thanks to her well documented precognitive powers. This case is doubly rare, however, as it was also one of the rare cases in which Oriko took to a battlefield on her own, though it was only for a moment.

So as you can see, while there's a lot to discuss about Oriko's ability and need to feel and express emotion, this is at the very least not an easy topic.

If we were to try and judge a situation by looking at Oriko, we would most of the time get the same reading: smug. As Oriko doesn't seem to change her expressed emotion corresponding to the situation, little can be learned about said situation by observing Oriko.

Kirika, however, can be used not only to gauge the general situation she finds herself in, as she's vrey expressive herself, but can also help studying Oriko's range of emotions, as Kirika seems to be one of the rare phenomenons that can cause Oriko to show non-smug emotions, though only some times, and only to an extent. Indeed, Oriko is known to keep her smug some times even while Kirika is expressing harrowing despair.

Further studying must be done about this subject, but for the time being, we must keep in mind Oriko's expressed emotion cannot be used to gauge the general mood of any given situation.

Attentively,
Onmur, Archangel of Nutella, Ace Shitposter.

They're our friends. Well, we just need to properly finish befriending them, first.

I mean, we have included them in at least one group before, but I won't be content until I feel we can call O&K friends in Homura's and Sayaka's faces without hesitation!

"Gesundeith."

"That's not... How long have you been standing there?"

"Long enough to hear the wife thing. And to watch the 'luminous' happen. I was attracted to this place by the sheer concentration of hugs."

"She was."

"... At this point, pretending arrogance and smugness wouldn't help anymore, would it?"

"That stopped helping ever since you accepted being called Kure Oriko."

"... Fiddlesticks."

Homura opens her eyes to meet Madoka's golden ones, the eternally long haired girl smiling fondly down at her.

"Homura..."

"Madoka..."

Awkwardly, helpless in her special friend's arms, Homura reaches up...

"H-Homura?"

"Madoka."

"Homura?!"

"Madoka?!"

Homura blinks to find a bewildered Sayaka lookind down at her, leaning away from Homura's reaching hand.

Homura looks down at herself, being held in Sayaka's arms, the blue haired girl's cape fluttering with the breeze, then looks back up at Sayaka... and blushes.

Sayaka immediately drops her.

"Ow! You..."

"Let's never talk about this again."

"Agreed."

Homura: ... what are you doing?!
Madoka: I don't know! I acted before I was thinking! Quick lets hide in that ice cream shop and get some ice cream so we look normal!

Wasn't part of the reason we were interested in Rihanna McDonalds because we we're worried about Oriko's soul? Has that plot thread been healed by love? If not, maybe we should try to get sayaka to look at her with the copied power? We don't want her to be sick anymore

Getting Sayaka to go as far as actively helping Oriko - the girl that burned her house and endagered her parents' lives - might be just a taaaad bit very incredibly difficult, though.
