Agreed. If Rionna was going to be a threat, Oriko would have mentioned it when relaying her vision. The only thing she warned us about is to not ask about her sister. Also, if she were a threat, she wouldn't give us a heads up that she was coming.

Use your SciFi knowledge folks! Overwatch was always the weaker response, if psi attack range is perhaps greater. The stronger option? Concealment and strategic withdrawal.

I accept Sabrina isn't in danger ATM.
But her powers are insanely dangerous just as they are right now.

IQL, we DO NOT want her to violate Homura's sense of privacy at all. Not even with a dialtone. Our path requires us to vett her for contact first. Get Homura out of harm's way. Let Homura choose if Rionna is maybe going to wardial her.

Our very first meeting topic with Rionna, before any other, is to gently set two boundaries. Don't scan us or anyone else without a conversation and consent. Directly accessing Sabrina at some levels is going to void the warranty, Kyuubey said as much. Further, we are trying to keep some infosec, and it will take a while to see if Rionna wishes to work within our plan. If the wrong things get communicated, we will have problems.

She may want to demonstrate right away? Let us not go straight to Oriko, we have other participants if Rionna wants to demonstrate her healing. Akiko and Anri are both eligible.

Do we call Niko in on this right now? If we are having a de-witching summit, we need to keep her involved.

We have some demonstrations easily to hand, plenty of Grief in stock. We can visit Warehouse-kun if she makes us stay up and SCIENCE all night.

I know that there is at least one user on Spacebattles that is good at Gaelic, I've been in thread when he started explaining pronunciation, we could possibly see about asking him for help?

I say do it. Grow this collective nuthouse and shock the hell out of Rionna. Though it'll be awkward as all hell of it turns out that she just has the accent but doesn't speak Gaelic.
 
Thought: If Riona's using her own powers to forge and maintain a telepathic connection of her own with us, then she might be able to hear anything we telepathy to anybody else. It wouldn't be a stretch.

So I'm guessing it might be beneficial to not tell everyone about Riona. Maybe tell only Homura about her, and let her paranoia for us; don't tell anybody else.

No need right now. The next vote rounds will be for measuring her character and powers; maybe when things calm down or when we had ensured her help we could contact Niko, but right now that isn't important.

Are we going to meet Rionna alone? Because if we set the conversation in English now when we meet Rionna will probably default the conversation into English and I don't know if Mami, Sayaka and Homura will be able to follow along the conversation.

Hm. I had first judged her terse speech to maybe mean she needed to get closer before she could use her powers to facilitate communication, which is, to be fair, an unfounded presumption.

I could throw more wild guesses, but I got myself confused.

Why do I feel Rionna is going to look out our soul and go 'wut'. QB said our soul was strange which may or may not mean its really wierd to someone like Rionna.

Sayaka's English is good enough to identify and recreate a pun with advanced vocabulary when the pun is made in a language that doesn't have the pun. Mami's a year ahead of her and a better student.

Sabrina's also been complimentary of Mami's English in the past.

That is the safest assumption. OTOH, I don't want Homura to protect us. You and I can recover Sabrina from ego-border blues. Best for her to protect herself. I don't want to test that for our key player. Sabrina takes the stupid risks, Homura provides the insurance, it seems to be a good model so far.

Not sure how her ability works, but the maximum scope would be "conceptual communication."

Suil go cuin. Until we figure out how Rionna comports herself in serious conversation, English is welcome extra partition. @Torgamous tells us it is a flimsy partition, too bad we don't have Gaelic. I want Mami safe. Keeping Sayaka safe means waiting for round two.

Hmmm, about zero percent chance Rionna isn't within half an hour? If she had just cleared customs at Narita, she would be acting in courtesy, but we know she has a blunt reputation?

Clever call for timestop, as long as Homura doesn't move us around a lot, we could have her over for a meeting. She could send the messages out to everyone else? I expect Rionna would only feel a jolt of "interference" on the line. We can take credit for that, and none be the wiser.

I want Rionna to stop scanning us. Politeness aside, this is bad, particularly if she is a Hanji expy.
She might bluescreen. We might bluescreen. Feedback is a bear. I'll know if every quester starts to report finding a PM from Rionna in their account.

Best synergy in this case. We have chosen to Have Mami By Our Side, so we want to meet outdoors. Give her tactical range, and enforce a bit of social normality on our guest at the same time. Apartment isn't appropriate ATM. Further, the DJB tower is uncomplicated as a reference. We can go down to any park nearby for our first talk. Soda machines are available for hospitality, bring change.
 
I will laugh when Rionna turns out to per perfectly polite and friendly.
Since narratively combat is not where Sabrina has narratively interesting events, she has interesting events when she has to balance social things and choose what projects to do now vs later, ie everything that can't be ganked by her and/or Homura timestop.

Maybe? (we know lots of languages!) But certainly she has rarely met synthetics, and darn few groupminds. Kyuubey also has a very different sense of propriety and safety when it comes to humans. The statement it made is incomplete, as per usual. There could be issues if she tries to soul-grope us.

Certainly possible. Is it possible to be correct in both cases? That is a superior kind of response, and allows us to do right things.

Asking what brings her is the best second step.

Our first step should be safety. Safety first! right now means keep Homura from being mind spammed, and not harming Rionna on our internal geometry. We need to hash that out, we have no margin on that ATM.

Do you think soul manipulation involving Sabrina is wise? This isn't snuggles, is it?
