Since the sheild is a sphere, does that mean the rock is floating in the middle of it, or does it fall to the bottom of the bubble?

@Firnagzen How long did it take us to craft the Pocket Brina using enchanted Grief?

On SCIENCE, I think of the first things we should do is run through a few of our standard Griefhaxes to see how long they take us. Start with the enchantment-boosting Infinity Gauntlet, maybe, because the limitations of speckled enchantments are irrelevant when we're enchanting Grief, or would the fact that we're enchanting Grief also mean the speckles wouldn't help any more? Privacy sphere is definitely on the list.

The question is how long it took to enchant the Grief...
Yeah, sorry, that's what I mean - how long did it take us to enchant the Grief and then shape the Pocket Brina before breathing life into it. This is still a huge win over griefhax because we're conscious while doing it, and I doubt it's faster, but we're going to have to get new timings on pretty much everything we do.

Even if it takes more time in total to [enchant+shape] grief then it does to [trance] it, the fact that we can "pre-load" the time commitment is huge.

If this is generally applicable to all witchy grief constructs, then all those witchy grief effects just became usable in combat time as long as we're carrying "primed" grief with us.

Oh, wow! That means our bag of marbles is staging a comeback?

We need to try the 4D rotation now, very true.

Also, we have a primed rock.

[] Focus on the enchanted soft rock. Will it to become something else.

Time to create an army of pre-made but not activated Brina drones to deploy when required.

Edit...

So, with the multi-dimensional shenanigans, and the ability to stockpile just-add-life grief duplicates, is it now practical to stash Sabrina's actual body and soul gem in 4-space, and teleoperate a remote terminal for normal person interaction?

I thought the imppartant part was convincing Homura she has something extra to call her own, beyond her obligation to Madoka.

(sorry for answering a joke with a serious line)

Serious lines from jokes are fine, it's all topic interpolation anyway.

It would be good to be able to convince Homura of that, wouldn't it- I'd really just want to be sure we approached it from the "we are family and we care and accept and support you, you have us, and just by being yourself you do so well by us, we could not have done any of of what we've done, for ourself or to help you, without you being you; you are, yourself, enough" direction and didn't accidentally step into the other direction that one could go with suddenly having a basically-independent kid, with the "suddenly you have a lot more responsibility and obligation that you never asked for, but it automatically means more if you don't live up to it even though you never asked for it because you have a kid, and are you supposed to parent, how do you keep them safe when you both go around fighting dangerous shit, you aren't ready for this, you could have been their friend or ally or mentor but how can I be responsible for this person?", in the style of what a number of people get from, say, Young Justice's Superman-Superboy issues. So, basically be very careful to not become another obligation-albatross.

Probably not the exact issue to be concerned about, and of course at the moment we've brought up the mom-thing out loud like... once, still? And thereafter mostly focused on "hey so we were most likely created by the wish to fix everything, let's deal with the implications of that". But, well, we don't get to choose what people take away from what we say, and we really don't know if the mom-thing has stuck around to nag at the back of Homura's mind, or if we bring it up enough it will suddenly start sticking around to nag at the back of her mind.

Because, honestly, one's metaphorical brain-squirrels can grab onto any-and-everything to start, and make a good shot at continuing, the spiral of "yes I must be responsible for everything even the things I am not responsible for because they have all gone wrong and either nobody else around me as the opportunity to make things go this wrong without me or definitionally they cannot have acted any other way* therefore it must be my problem". And Homura's metaphorical brain-squirrels are the Clara dolls. So. I'd want to keep an eye on anything we say that they could potentially pick up and run with.

* huh, this actually basically goes back to my long-essay where I mentioned the "fearing taking any action because you have so much intel about how people and the world work, that if you act and it goes wrong, it's solidly and only your personal failure because you should have known better than to act at all" thing. Curious.

[] Help Homura test her enchantment.
-[] By making more Pocket Brinas. *nod nod*
The door cracks open -you didn't lock it- and Sayaka returns. Her hair's a mess, and the bags of nuts and bread are empty, but there's a smirk on her face.
Apparently she went all in on the Disney Princess thing, except she doesn't have magical hair so the birds nesting in it were a mess instead of adorably fairy-tale-ish.

Proposed changes to @Onmur's vote proposal.

[] Help Homura test her enchantment.
-[] Try and get her to pick up and hold you properly.

[] Test enchanted Grief.
-[] Use the same enchanted Grief to make different things.
-[] Do you need to decide what you want to build before enchanting Grief, or not?
-[] During testing...
--[] Repair Kuroki's phone. Check it afterwards.
--[] Make a full-sized Brina clone.
---[] Give Mami double hugs.
---[]Let Mami examine clone for her own research?
-[] Chibi Brina: Try...
--[] Moving in four dimensions. And observing what's out there.
--[] Map the 4d shape of your soul gem.

--[] Leaving your range.

[] Call Hijiri
-[] Tell her what happened with Anri: Anri has been stopped, is safe, is contained humanely, and we did speak with her and hear what she had to say.
-[] You'd like to talk more on that, if she's willing, but telepathy is not a secure form of communication.
-[] Make sure she's not grief spiraling, and arrange to get her a grief seed if she is.

I really want to make sure Hijiri is safe. I've been convinced it can wait until a quiet moment, but now this is the quiet moment, and I don't want it to linger beyond today. Reason being that I consider it not unlikely for her to be grief spiraling and the sooner we interrupt that or confirm it's not a problem, the better.

[] Hunt a witch.
-[] Pay attention to how your real world-range changes as you enter and move through the barrier.

I think Tsubaki can wait till tomorrow or the day after. Hijiri, on the other hand,

Now I'm sad we missed it. I bet by the time she does it in front of us it'll be practiced enough to look cool and not embarrassing at all. :(

[] Homura
- [] Hug teh homu
To the White Forest pt. 18
I'd like to give you a hug. May I?"

She nods, a tiny, jerky motion.
... we need to hug the Homura more.
To the White Forest pt. 19
"Can I hug you?" you blurt.

Homura shrugs, the barest rise and fall of her shoulders, and you immediately pull her back into a hug.
Can we continue to hug Homura?
To the White Forest pt. 20
"May I hug you?" you murmur.

She nods jerkily, and you wrap your arm around her.
[] Hug homu! HUG HOMU MORE!
To the White Forest pt. 21
"Hey," you say, pulling Homura into a hug again. "Homura, it's OK. It's OK."

She resists, a little, but slumps bonelessly against you a second later. You hug her close.
[x] More hugs.
-[x] You demand more hugs.
You guys were really bringing out the big guns, huh?

Homura gives you a long, considering look.
"Hwe ahr naht ah giahnt spydahr."
"Excuse me," she murmurs, and picks you up by the back of your shirt before gently placing you on a rock before tapping her finger on said rock. A lilac shield blooms around you, perfectly spherical.

"Excuse me," you say indignantly, banging a fist against the side of the shield.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so adorable
Did... is Homura trolling us? With the hamster ball?

She must be, it's the same thing as her name swap.
Ah, sorry, would you mind telling me which chapter this name swap is in? Homu trolling is best trolling

"No shame in that, fimti? And I know the Japanese naming thing," Nadia says, grinning and leaning back far enough to prop the chair up on two feet. That only lasts a second before she realises what she's doing and lets the chair thump back down, transferring her gaze to Homura. "And you?"

"Akemi Homura," Homura responds. "My surname is Homura."

"Yes," Nadia says, pointing at Mami. "And Tomoe Mami, of course. And you are Sabrina."

"Mmmhm," you agree, giving Homura a baffled, surreptious look, one that you see mirrored on Madoka's and Sayaka's and- well, and Mami's faces. Her surname is Homura?
Yep, she's sorta getting there.

(I bet she's trying to emulate trolldoka, her hero :V)

My proposed changes:

[] Help Homura test her enchantment.
-[] Test with adding properties to the shield. Selective permeability, etc.

Using control enchantment.
---[] Give Mami double hugs.
---[]Let Mami examine clone for her own research?
-[] Chibi Brina: Try...
--[] Moving in four dimensions.
--[] Leaving your range.

I put in the "control enchantment" thing because we don't really know if it would be safe to use our previous method of Grief construction. At least with our control enchantment we seem to cut down on the Witchiness, and additionally said enchantment could help Mami with her clone research.
