Wrap ourselves up in a sphere of grief for armor, scatter around a few shells that're externally identical but actually just hollow decoys. Pull the utility fog in to 80m or so so the center of the fog doesn't give away which sphere is the right one. Put our body in a different sphere than our soul gem to see if we can give her a nasty surprise at some point?
I disagree with separating our gem from our body by any great distance. (more than a few centimeters) In addition to possible loss of coordination, there's also the matter that being a static target makes it easier for someone to avoid and the fact that there's a line of magic connecting the gem to us, which could be visible to someone with good senses. (and also likely severable to someone with the right skillset. I don't think that someone is Yuki, but until we have countermeasures to being gemmed it strikes me as a risky habit to get into.)

There's also the thing that leaps out to me, that a even with "low intensity" lot of this stuff is still basically just abusing raw power and there's a lot of other things that can be done too: Playing to psychology and expectations instead, for instance.

Sound (footsteps, ambient noise) would probably be better suited to a girl without a really strong magic sense, but even like this it can still be put to raise the expectation of an attack.

Likewise, a growing sense of witchiness probably can be associated with an attack charging, and can be used to draw focus away from an attack from a completely different direction. Especially if there are times where active witchiness actually is an attack. (and not just physically either, a strong magnetic charge could serve useful if there's an appropriate metal it can be used on)

I'm expecting Yuki to have good enough senses, particularly if we're in her territory, that make gambits like this essentially pointless. Imagine trying to pull that off against Sabrina and her utility fog.

I am playing games with witchiness, feinting and so on.

I hadn't known there was a perceptible magical connection. Is there a citation on that?

We're not using our body in my proposal, and it shouldn't slow the reactions of our Grief at all, which is the important thing. Losing the link isn't an issue. If Sabrina had found time to practice operating as a disembodied gem I'd consider an intentional disconnect followed by puppeting the body with grief for the fraction of a second it'd be visible outside the featureless grief armor-sphere.

It is a lot of brute force. I think that I'm failing to detail some of the things I mentioned in passing. Like, "perception", I mean forming a huge array of electromagnetic sensors, all the way up into gamma and down into long-wave radio, on the off-chance that we need it to track Yuki as she moves through her buildings. I bet she's not going to think to make her building a faraday cage, and we have an absolutely obscene antenna and it wouldn't take long to make it do interferometry or volumetric scanning. If she has, we can switch to using passive gamma from environmental sources. Hmm, yeah, we should definitely do that.

Yo. If you have a complaint, you can raise a concern normally, instead of this passive-aggressive shit. Knock it off.

Okay, sorry. I edited it to be a a little gentler, but I honestly am voting to delay discussions and talk in person rather than use telepathy so much. Trying to picture it from the perspective of the NPCs, it's like that friend who never stops texting you.

We're not exactly telling them what we're having for lunch here.

But what's the urgency that requires interrupting them? A decision on a mutual defense pact is serious enough that it deserves some thought; Yuki doesn't need an answer right away. Plenty of time to brief them face-to-face later today.

I just like to be respectful of people's time. Homura is probably a lost cause, but I'm sure Sayaka and even Mami probably want to have portions of their day when they can go for hours at a time without thinking about magical girl stuff. Brainmailing all the time never lets them get away from it.

185/200 words.

I think that even during lessons, the spar and other discussion with Yuki should give our teammates enough time to come to a y/n consensus. If it isn't, we can break to voting and address taking Yuki to Mitakihara next update.

But what's the urgency that requires interrupting them? A decision on a mutual defense pact is serious enough that it deserves some thought.

That's exactly why we should fill them in ASAP - so they have as much time as possible to come to a decision. It's not like this is some minor detail they don't need to know about, or that we're contacting them frivolously.

It's Mami's and Sayaka's city, technically. Their opinion on things like a mutual defense pact technically outweighs ours.

but I'm sure Sayaka and even Mami probably want to have portions of their day when they can go for hours at a time without thinking about magical girl stuff.
Mami would spend the entire day talking to us if she wasn't so responsible and worried about being needy, and Sayaka hasn't become disillusioned about magical girls yet, or rather we've done a solid job of reillusioning her. So no, I think they're both fine in that respect.

I wonder if we're going to have an audience for this.

(I wonder if Homu is going to walk us all the way up here so she can watch.)

I'm not really ready to talk to Yuki about dewitching. Until we get that project off the ground, it's better to establish our credentials here first. I'd like to leave here with the impression of mutual respect rather then potentially being red flagged now for pursuing a project known to be steeped in madness, if Nadia's example is any indication.

That's exactly why I backed down from "discussing Grief Seed details pertinent to Airi" to "mentioning that Clear Seeds are dormant" in the latest edit, actually.

"So I'll want to come by every couple-few weeks to check on it", maybe? That was in an earlier version of the vote but I think got cut for space.

Even then, we have more easily accessible clear seeds to monitor that with? Also I really do hope we make better progress on dewitching by then, to the point we've moved beyond the activity state of the witch core.

-[x] Can Yuki come in person to ratify and fulfill the contract?
-[X] Provisionally agree, then invite Yuki to Mitakihara to ratify in person, tailor antimagic, and pick up Airi.
I do not think this is how ratification works. Also this seems phrased redundantly, given that we're running into wordcount v clarity issues elsewhere now

--[X] You're out to help all Magical Girls. You'll defend Fukushima, but would prefer to make peace with hostiles, either before fighting starts or after it's done - as they should know.
The addition here seems like it can be taken a as fairly passive-aggressive.

If Fukushima's pricing is any indication of their rate of consumption, they'll likely end up going through the clear seed much faster than most groups.

I don't think it will be an issue, but maybe put agreeing to the spar later in the vote - specifically after talking about rules of engagement.

I can just see a situation where we open with "Sure, but - " and then Yuki starts because her time and place were right here and now and we never actually get a chance to discuss it. It would be dumb, I don't think Firn would do that, and it's only even an issue if she really is about to suddenly attack us. So I think it's vanishingly unlikely to matter, but I mean, it's not that much effort to change it just in case?

I dunno, it's not that big of a deal, just something I noticed.
