What probably happened with the enchanting failure is we tried to do it without involving our friends. We just walled ourselves off and tried to brute force our way through it without collaboration or assistance. Can we please stop doing that? Please? It never works.

If Kirika can make an antimagic enchantment, can Sayaka make a power copy enchantment? Like, to give to other people? It would just need to be an alternate way to activate those baubles she's making.

[Q] Mami, if you somehow manage to extend my Grief Control range, I'll take you on a date to Italy.

BAM! Range-extending-Ribbons got within the hour. :V

Random random random.

"Hey Mami, I know we've known each other for two weeks and this might sound crazy, but marry me."

Marriage-together-forever-anti-loneliness-

"Yes."

Marry-Sabrina-together-couple-what-did-I-uhhowwhenuhIdon'tdidshebutforbiddenhowwhagblrlrgh...

Sabrina catches a fainting Mami in her arms.

*Gapes*

"That totally counted."

Not what i was talking about and you know it, every attempt to copy our ability to control grief has ended in failure, unless someone else makes the wish to do it, we are the only system breaker.
Every attempt? This is the first time that we've ever tried it, and this bit...
"Maybe it's the gauntlet?" she says, slender fingers plucking gently at the edge of the metal gauntlet. "Some kind of feedback?"

"That's possible," you say. It would make sense, you suppose. Enchantments are one thing, but when you have your Grief-shaping in the loop, as it were, it might be a... well, a feedback loop of sorts. It would certainly explain the stabbing icepick of a migraine throbbing between your ears.
...seems to strongly hint that the reason it failed was because we tried to use a Grief construct to make it, instead of just using normal enchantment.

I'm not saying it'll work, though. A normal Enchantment theoretically should be copy-able by any meguca, yet only Sabrina can cleanse Soul Gems without side effects.
I'm guessing that we'll discover that the magic cost of making them would result in them being a net loss for any meguca that wasn't us. If that's the case, then we can give some talented enchanters Clear Seeds so they can mass produce them for wide distribution.

Shouldnt this be distcrit? I cant think of a way to pronounce "distrcit" but um im gonna go nya somewhere else now bai
Oh, I've done that before: "dis-turr-kit"

If it wasn't for the people in the thread after the update talking about how this was Onmur's fault, I would be yelling at Firn for putting my traits into the thread again out of nowhere.

For something completely different, from my life (@ArcadianPhoenix can confirm):

"Yeah, I may have terrible memory, but at least I don't have... uh... I don't have... crap, it starts with a Z?"

"What are you talking about?"

"There's a word. Um... It's... Ah! Alzheimer's! At least I don't have Alzheimer's!"

"..."

"...okay, shush."

I don't understand why we're even trying enchantments for cleansing. Mami is sitting right there and it'd take us thirty seconds to test ribbon conduction and it'd work the first time and it wouldn't even be witchy, just everyone keeps finding excuses to not try it. Like, "we're going to die eventually" and "we'd have to stay near Mami", what kind of arguments are those? Why does everybody hate Mami so much ;_; ?

Because people want their power levelz and insist that Sabrina must be able to do it, because otherwise her wish wasn't granted. Or because of people who seem to want to embody the very notion that "perfect is the enemy of good".
A distance enhancement would make that a non-issue. A power grid of sorts? We have infinite multitasking, it's the moving about that's the issue.
We clearly do not have infinite multitasking, that meme needs to die in a fire.

I'm against doing that because I like Mami too much to inflict the logical consequences of that action on her.

Think about the end state you'd have to find, relying on a network of Mami's ribbons to spread Sabrina's Grief Control over the planet. She'd need to be constantly linked to the network, constantly making new ribbons to link up to new Meguca so Sabrina could cleanse them. The two of them would effectively be locked onto a Golden Throne, never allowed to disconnect for more than a short time without risking lives around the world. It's a horrible fate for Sabrina and Mami, and I would be terribly annoyed if that's the best solution we can come up with.

Because we don't want to have to personally cleanse every Soul Gem on the planet on a weekly basis?
We have infinite multitasking when it comes to gross grief manipulation. We've established by WoG that, for example, Sabrina's multitasking and control are good enough that she could form a pinhole camera out of nanomechanical cantilevers operating off radiation pressure in the optical spectrum. It'd be "Personal" in the same way that the Abrahamic Deity of the Book "personally" attends to everybody.

Mami can operate her ribbons without physical contact, c.f. chibi. We don't have to have direct connections to every Meguca; instead, we could simply cover the earth's surface with ribbons in a 50m mesh. Alternatively, Mami's connection magic could turn out to be that good and she can just go "connect to every Meguca on the planet", which I wouldn't be surprised by given how bullshit she is in every other way.

edit: Again, think about what it takes for her to make a real-looking chibi out of ribbons; she's tuning everything from subsurface scattering (to make the skin look right) to horrible nonlinear elasticity and density (to make the skin feel right) to complex animation (hair! HAIR!). If we give her infinite mana, she can absolutely envelop the earth in ribbons.

edit edit: I suppose you could call the Earth itself our Golden Throne. Hmm, I'm not against it.

I dunno, being locked on the Golden Throne together wouldn't be so bad, if we did it after we stopped Walpurgisnacht, and could still have our friends come over?

Another thing! Excepting the extremely long term, relying on Mami for things is good best. When we rely on Mami for stuff, it makes her happy, generally speaking in a broad sense. She'll be happy just having us around, but cooperatively doing things with us -- it barely matters what they are -- is where she really enjoys herself.

Enough with that nonsense pls like we couldn't just extend a connection to Earth lol. If we have the magic to blanket all of Earth when we're limited by a capacitor with only enough for a few Tiro Finales naturally then we have enough arbitrarily.

Mami is aGolden Throne, duh.

My idea is that next time Mami does homework, since we're sitting around for an extended period of time, we try and put some effort into Grief Control Enchantment. If we get nothing after a couple of hours, may as well give up on that front.

Next time we go practice\sparring, we try and Combo Grief+Ribbons with Mami before we start, trying for Range Extension.

And I don't think we're going to Tokyo, it's already 4 pm and we've just arrived at Sendai.
